About: Navigating disability services in Connecticut across the lifespan can be challenging for individuals, caregivers, and professionals. Oak Hill and affiliates, offer a continuum of care, complete with helpful resources for everyone. Join us for a FREE(with pre-event registration) seminar about services from Birth to Senior Care. Areas of focus will include early intervention, education, assistive technology, health/wellness, clinical, independent living, in-home supports, community companion homes, residential,vocational, and so much more.

Who? Everyone is welcome. Presentations will be geared toward caregivers and professionals supporting children, youth, and adults with disabilities.

10:00AM Welcome: Barry Simon, President and CEO, Oak Hill

10:30AM – 11:10AM Oak Hill School is a private, state approved, special education school licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Education, serving students from 3-21 years of age with moderate to severe disabilities including; autism, emotional disabilities, behavioral challenges, medically fragile, and students with multiple disabilities. Oak Hill School provides a highly individualized, structured, innovative community based program that focuses on development in academic, independent living, social, vocational, and community skills.

11:10AM – 11:50AM Community Programs • Residential Services - Oak Hill’s residential programs provide top quality housing for adults living with intellectual and physical disabilities. Homes and apartments are located throughout Connecticut. Each one has been carefully designed to include full- or part-time support staff, supervisors, nurses, speech, occupational and physical therapists and social workers.

• Day Programs/Supportive Employment - Participants gain valuable skills, increase their independence and enhance their self-esteem. Many also earn a paycheck! Our committed staff provides all the necessary support, training and supervision to make our day services program work for both employees and employers. Oak Hill Day Service Programs are contracted for and monitored by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

• In-Home Services - As an approved vendor for the state’s “Self-Directed Services” program, our highly trained disability specialists can come directly to your home to provide support and help you with a care program you have developed. In-home services are designed for individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.

1:00PM – 1:40PM Easterseals Coastal Fairfield County provides ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) services to children with autism and other developmental disabilities in Fairfield County, as well as ABA consultation and training in New York and Connecticut.

1:40PM – 2:20PM Oak Hill Centers is a group of innovative programs designed for people with disabilities and their caregivers. Programs include: Birth to Three, Center for Relationship & Sexuality Education, New England Assistive Technology (NEAT), Equipment Restoration Center at NEAT, Eleanor A. Brooks Blindness Supports, Chapter 126 Sports & Fitness, Easterseals Camp Hemlocks, and Oak Hill Camp at Harkness State Park. We will provide a complete overview of our wide-ranging services, and share some of our favorite resources, too!
