The organizers are pleased to invite all players to the VIII Floripa Chess Festival

2022 to be held in Florianopolis-SC (Brazil) from January 21st to 30th, 2022.

OBJECTIVES

a) Contribute to the improvement of technical level of chess in Brazil and South-America;

b) Congregate the national chess community, promoting cultural and social exchanges;

c) Create an analysis panel of chess as a research object and intervention in various areas of

knowledge, especially in education and health;

d) Promote cultural and sporting tourism in Florianopolis-SC, Brazil;

e) Valid for FIDE rating (ID 263556).

SYSTEM AND RATE OF PLAY

FCO 2022 will be played in Swiss System in 10 (ten) rounds, Swiss Manager.

The rate of play is 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment per move from move 1.

TIEBREAKS

a) Direct Encounter (code 11);

b) Buchholz cut 2 (code 37);

c) AROC 1 – Average rating with cut of the 1 lowest (code 36);

d) Total Buchholz (code 37);

e) Sonneborn-Berger (code 52);

f) Draw.

FORFEITS

Forfeits will be declared 60 (sixty) minutes after starting the round.

ABSENT BYE AND NON-PAIRING - NEW FIDE RULE

Absent Bye entitled to 0.5 (half a point), only 1 (one) will be admitted, and only until the 6th round.

The non-pairing (zero point) can be requested in any round, and as many as the player wishes. This

must be properly notified and the form filled and signed at the arbiters table.

Late registrations will be subject to the Organizer’s approval and will cost double the value of the

Create a chess analysis panel as an object of research and intervention in various areas of

knowledge, especially in education and health.

SPEAKERS

José Fernando Cuenca Jiménez, PhD in Applied Mathematics – Hamburg University, Germany.

Grandmaster and commentator of the chess24.com platform.

María Rodrigo Yanguas, Clinical and sports psychologist. PhD at the Autonomous University of

Madrid, Spain. She is FIDE Master, trainer and member of the Feminine and Chess Commission of

the Spanish Chess Federation. The Research Institute of the Puerta de Hierro-Majadahonda

University Hospital focused on the study of the potential of chess in mental health, an i-PFIS contract

from the Carlos III Institute.

COORDINATION

Jaison José Bassani, Graduated in Physical Education (2003) and Doctor in Education (2008) from

the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), is a professor at the Department of Physical

Education and at the Graduate Program in Education at UFSC. Between 2019-2020 he held a

postdoctoral degree at the Institute of Philosophy of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones

Científicas (IFS / CCHS / CSIC), in the city of Madrid (Spain).

Certificate of 12 hours by the Federal University of Santa Catarina UFSC.
