COLLECTION FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES:

In response to the escalating crisis of Syrian refugees, we will be taking up a second collection during all Masses next weekend. This collection is part of an unprecedented joint appeal to Catholics across the country, involving the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Canadian Organization for Development and Peace, the Cath-olic Near East Welfare Association, and Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). Please do what you can to reach out to help, envelopes will be provided.

Presence on site: join us for one hour in a peaceful prayer vigil at 10958 - 124 St. in Edmonton. Prayer support: before the Blessed Sacrament at Holy Family for one hour dedicated to saving the unborn.

THANKSGIVING REFLECTION:

Gratitude is creative. People bound to-gether by gratitude are always discover-ing and awakening abundant sources of strength. The more thankful a person is, the richer he or she is within. Thankful people store up in their grateful memory all the good experiences of the past, just as the French proverb states: "Gratitude is the heart's memory." Thankfulness is having open eyes and a short distance between the eyes and the heart.

Happy Thanksgiving!

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: October 18th

UNITED IN LOVE World Mission Sunday 2015 takes place in the context of the Year of Con-secrated Life, which provides a further stimulus for prayer and reflection. For if, every baptized person is called to bear witness to the Lord Jesus by pro-claiming the faith received as a gift, this is especially so for each consecrat-ed man and woman. There is a clear connection between consecrated life and mission. Today, the Church’s mis-sion is faced by the challenge of meet-ing the needs of all people to return to their roots and to protect the value of their respective cultures. Please re-spond generously.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION NOVENA:

The need to support Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Edmonton has never been more urgent. We recognize Catholic education as a unique and ex-cellent means of forming the hearts, minds and souls of our young people. Therefore, it is vital that we lend our support through prayer. I invite you to join with me in praying a novena to St. John Bosco over nine consecutive days, beginning Tuesday, October 13. Each day, we will ask for his intercession with our Lord to strengthen Catholic educa-tion in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Please see the Archdiocese website for more information and prayers.
