It’s fall, which is hands down my favorite season and as a bonus it’s October, which is my favorite month. It feels like someone has pushed the restart button and given us just a few more months to reach those yearly goals. The fall — the literal season of change — is the perfect time to take even one small step toward whatever new habit, hobby, activity, or whatever you’d love to pursue. As we start to embrace the cooler temperatures of fall, the diminishing light, and new schedules perhaps, our living patterns change as well remember to stop and take it all in.

This month we’ve decided to re-interview one of the most entertaining developers we’ve ever interviewed, the infamous and talented, Dutch. We’ve also decided to dive into the world of fashion head first bringing you various different articles about how to enhance your wardrobe this season. Also to help out with this daunting task, we’ve brought on fashionista AuLiet for her own segment.

Es has also taken on interviewing one of the hottest DJ’s around in her entertainment segment. We are so excited as we head into the holiday season for all of the changes coming, including the launch of TREND AfterDark a magazine created for the Access Pass Community. Are you guys ready? We hope you are!

And of course Happy Halloween!

TREND: Welcome back Dutch, thanks for sitting down with us again!Dutch: No problem, sorry for it taking so long, it’s a mad house over here.

TREND: How does it feel to know that our previous interview was one of the most read interviews in TREND’s history?Dutch: @as it? Oh wow, haha that mean I’m famous now? That’s pretty awesome actually!TREND: As if you didn’t know you were famous.Dutch: lol ok ok, just hard to get used to, you know, the fame, the women. seriously though, I don’t consider myself a big shot still I try to make cool stuff and I really enjoy doing it, that’s it course I do enjoy the occasional woman :P I mean cars n guns n stuff.

TREND: Well Dutch the last time we saw you, you were planning an Arms Show with INVICTUS. What have you been up to lately?Dutch: Well that arms show didn’t go through, I still feel bad about that, but at the time I just couldn’t there was lot of personal drama going on and I wasn’t feeling too happy about all of it. Well that and first times are fun, then everyone does it and I need to go do something else right now I’m still making guns but also a few other cool things. The Volvo ocean race yachts for instance, very detailed sport type sail boats those took me ages to make. Well that and new guns, but i have less time now so it goes a bit slower. I like taking more time and making it better, that way people get really cool stuff and not mass production.TREND: So every item, is getting a more personal touch? Dutch: Yeah for sure, still a lot of love goes into these things. Good research, good details, nice animations, all those.

TREND: Have you and INVICTUS collaborated on anything sense?Dutch: Not lately, we still talk and we are still good friends, but i just haven’t had the time to, do any big projects. If the US military comes out with new uniforms I’m sure we’ll be the first to have them in IMVU though :)TREND: *cough* A female suit and gun line, just saying! Dutch: Well all my guns up to now are for girls

but yes I do suppose I could make one special, for girls. lol the next one though is going to be really big, not very girly like, unless your name is sarah connor

TREND: I know you mentioned venturing over to SL once, how’d that work out for you?Dutch: mmm yeah I’m there too I started out with taking some stuff from IMVU there, which was nice but I’m also doing, some stuff special for SL. it’s fun, SL allows for scripted stuff so you can actually shoot each other also I think there’s a much closer relation between sellers and customers, which is kinda cool but imvu is still it for me SL is nice but it’s more like a hobby. TREND: So if anyone wanted to find you on SL how would they go about doing that?Dutch: They would look for the Mesh Shop, that’s my store there, most the stuff that’s there is here too though ;) only those guns really shoot bullets :DTREND: Sounds dangerously fun!

Dutch: Well on that note, if I may… there’s a guy im working with in IMVU right now, VR49 he has made a flash based engine which makes it possible for avatars in imvu to do actual combat with my guns.TREND: That was my next question!

Dutch: lol I made a few things special for it like the VR49 action pack it allows you to actually shoot people in IMVU it has a health system,

Page 31: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

bullet count so u have to reload your guns and stuff, its real cool work is being done on a graphic user interface to make it accessible for everyone. TREND: We had heard a little rumor you were working on live combat for imvu, so I was going to ask but since you beat me to it :P

Dutch: Yeah exactly, this is it it’s still in the early stages but there are a few guys who have done awesome stuff for it, you should see a fight sometime, it’s really badass. lol Want me to take you to one sometime? Wink ;)TREND: I’m game! Dutch: You know just watching hehe maybe I can give u a demonstration after the interview.

TREND: Some obviously absurd people have been claiming lately that you aren’t the father of your own meshes. Though we know otherwise, would you like to say anything to them?Dutch: No, lol. I have nothing to say to these people. I think everyone knows I do my own stuff and I do it really well, *ahem* hehe.TREND: *cough* Well now, xD Next question!

TREND: So we know you’re a bit of a shopacholic, what’s the most interesting thing you’ve purchased in the last couple of months?Dutch: Ooh yes I am, lol let me look! Mmm yeah some stuff I’m not going to tell you about, and the new line of invictus suits, they’re awesome as usual.TREND: Well why not?

Dutch: Cause you’re writing this down!TREND: Well we can cut this part out, I’m naturally curious!

(Please excuse this brief intermission! *que Jeapordy theme song*)

TREND: That was definitely interesting! To bad I can’t share! Ha! Ha! Moving on to something I can share…You have been an official TREND Partner from the get go, how pumped are you for next month’s release of the AP magazine, TRENDAfterDark? Dutch: Oh yes, that’s going to be so awesome, I mean it’s totally new, AP type magazines for virtual worlds, I haven’t seen those anywhere. lol You know for the articles n stuff... to read hahaTREND: Well we do have a few interesting articles in there, I turned red making them.

TREND: Alright, time to get personal! Is there a Mrs. Dutch and if not then why?!?!Dutch: Oooh, yup single. I can tell you the why is because I really don’t have the time, but I guess I just haven’t met Mrs. right yet I thought I did a few times, but turned out they were Mrs. wrong after all not all their fault though, I’m not the easiest guy to be with I’m sure so for now all single and pretty much loving it more people should try it.

TREND: Do you sleep in pajamas or in boxer briefs?Dutch: usually cut off jogging pants I know everyone says they sleep naked but they don’t I like something loose fitting lol hey I need the room! No shirts or anything though, just shorts

TREND: Do you sleep with a gun nearby?Dutch: I have one in my desk drawer, my home is pretty peaceful, great security, it’s like a small compound, so no need. I mainly use it for shooting at targets every so many times, the gun. Which is the best way if you want to learn about guns and shooting them btw.

TREND: Last personal question, what’s your biggest turn on? Dutch: Mmm, red heads.TREND: LOL!

Page 32: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

Dutch: Seriously, I’m not even kidding. :P Well that and a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it I like self confidence in a woman, it’s hot.TREND: As is a confident man!

TREND: What can we expect to see in the near future?Dutch: Mmm ok right now I’m doing some gun mods for people. Personal mods which get to be put in the catalog after that, like I said a really big gun big, loud, smoking, the works. It’s going to be totally over the top and really awesome some people think dual machine guns is a lot of firepower... hehe it’s not.TREND: Sounds like something to definitely keep an eye out for. Dutch: Yeah for sure, should be out end of next week already working on the model well researching it ;) got to do your homework kids... haha

At first it was hard to track down our spot light DJ this month. DjShig was offsite for a few weeks, but when he appeared again, I booked him as quick as I could for an interview. I may have found him hard to catch, but he’s easy to like.

EsReverniDrawrof: So do I call you Shig for short?DjShig: I’ve always gone by Shig.EsReverniDrawrof: What’s “Shig” mean?DjShig: LOL! Yeah, I had a feeling.EsReverniDrawrof: I’m that predictable?DjShig: Noooo LOL...I just get it a lot. Mine (name) was actually randomly generated for me.EsReverniDrawrof: How so?DjShig: I’m kinda part of what you’d call...the Nintendo generation. I grew up with video games, played them ‘til the early hours of the morning and I guess it’s kind of a thing that stuck with me.EsReverniDrawrof: Oh like when Xbox named me “Wayside Coolio”?DjShig: Wow...mine named me “Nimble Thunder” I woulda stuck with “Wayside Coolio”. LOLEsReverniDrawrof: So you’re a Nintendo “Shig” and an Xbox “Nimble Thunder” hahaDjShig: LOL nooooo. I’m PlayDeadShig on Xbox. EsReverniDrawrof: Oh! That’s so much better.DjShig: Anyway we used to play this game on the Gamecube called “Super Smash Bros. Melee”. You could create an account and keep track of your records through a gamer profile. The problem was that it only had 4 characters to name your account with. I could have probably settled with one of the many immature 4 letter words I knew at the time. (LOL)EsReverniDrawrof: Oh jeez...you mean like “soda” or “cake” right?DjShig: So I settled with a randomly selected name that was generated for me LOL. Just kinda stuck since my childhood. And yes....cake.EsReverniDrawrof: “DjShig” sounds better than “DjCake” anyway.DjShig: I agree....although cake is delicious LOL. To this day a few friends in real life still call me Shig.EsReverniDrawrof: Ok, so why IMVU? What

made a gamer try out this place?DjShig: Very good advertising LOLEsReverniDrawrof: Really? DjShig: I was a tad bored one night. A friend of mine had suggested this place but never really put much stock into a chat client. I happened to see the link while surfing the net and decided to give it a try.EsReverniDrawrof: How long ago was that?DjShig: It was about two years ago

EsReverniDrawrof: How’d you get into being a Dj on IMVU?DjShig: Well back 2 years ago I remember hopping on for my first time. There were a few awkward conversations, and a couple of decent clubs to go to. Typical newbie story LOL.EsReverniDrawrof: Everyone’s a newbie once.DjShig: I remember dropping into a club that was called “Rush 2 Rock”. It’s currently defunct. There was this guy who hung out there, and played music via triggers, and he always played good music. I guess I always wanted to be that guy...sitting in the middle of the room and playing all the great tunes everyone loved.EsReverniDrawrof: Who was that guy?DjShig: His name was SatansHellRide...or something very close to itEsReverniDrawrof: Did he help you out? DjShig: LOL not so much, shortly after I collected a good set list, IMVU shortened their trigger sounds to 20 seconds. It was a pain, but I started looking at alternate methods.EsReverniDrawrof: Such as?DjShig: Radio stations LOL. A friend of mine had just begun a very temporary stint with a radio station here and decided to hook me up with the station manager.EsReverniDrawrof: How’d that go?DjShig: It went great...I’m still a very huge part of the station LOLEsReverniDrawrof: Oh so KJR was the station?DjShig: Yes KJR was the station. I had looked up several stations at that point and wanted to settle with the best.

EsReverniDrawrof: Can you introduce what KJR is for our readers?

Page 37: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch
Page 38: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

DjShig: Of course! Let’s just put it this way...if you’re looking for a great time, if you’re a socialite, (or) want to hit a great party on IMVU, KJR is the place to be. We pack a full room every time, and all our Djs love to have a great time.

EsReverniDrawrof: KJR stands for what?DjShig: We’re KickinJamzRadioEsReverniDrawrof: So if I want to listen to KJR what do I do?DjShig: You can tune into the website or hit any of the radio globes found throughout IMVU.EsReverniDrawrof: Gotta link to the website?DjShig: the website is http://kickinjamzradio.com and you can find any of the radio globes in any of our clubs. You can also add one to your room, just search KJR radio in the furniture tab.

EsReverniDrawrof: What if a reader wants to throw a party and wants to hire you? What should they do?DjShig: You can contact us through the webpage or in person here on IMVU. Feel free to send us an invite or a message. We’re always responding.EsReverniDrawrof: How much do you charge?DjShig: Prices vary. We have these great promotional shows for developers called gift-gasms that will run you 25k plus all the prizes, gifts and treats you want to gift out.EsReverniDrawrof: Where can I get detailed info on that?DjShig: kickinjamzradio.com. We have a ton of info there regarding party pricing and promo’s.

EsReverniDrawrof: Cool....So! If I stole your iPod (or mp3 player), name 10 songs I’d hear.DjShig: Mmmm...it would sound great LOL....it would start with Fastball - The Way (recent favorite song at the moment)2- A Perfect Circle - Judith remix3- Radiohead - High and Dry4- Nickelback - This Means War (sorry it’s catchy LOL).5- Tool - The Patient6- A Perfect Circle - The Nurse Who Loved Me7- Alice In Chains - Man in the Box (always a fav).8 - Anything Nirvana wait...8 anything Foo

Fighters9- would be Kurt and all his glory (that’s Nirvana). And 10 - save the best for last...my all time favorite song is The Grudge by Tool.I know how to play...idk (I don’t know) maybe95% of their songs on guitar?Maybe 96% but who’s counting? LOL

EsReverniDrawrof: So you play guitar?DjShig: Since I was 12.Well on and off .EsReverniDrawrof: And you’re how old now?DjShig: 28

EsReverniDrawrof: So when you dj for KJR, do you mostly play rock, or a mix?DjShig: It really depends. Most of the time I prefer to play rock and metal, but I’ve been known to play a lot of things WAY out of the genre. Hardcore gangsta rap and country come to mind LOLEsReverniDrawrof: Is KJR primarily a rock station?DjShig: Not at all...in fact Kik plays mostly top40 stuff.EsReverniDrawrof: Who’s Kik?DjShig: One hell of a Dj. He’s ultimately my boss, and a very easy going guy to work with.EsReverniDrawrof: So was it DjKik that gave you your break on KJR?DjShig: Yes, well my interview demo was sent directly to him.EsReverniDrawrof: Explain the interview demo.DjShig: Well my friend Beachy happened to be working for KJR at the time. I had gone through audio college and wanted to help her out with an intro. So I recorded a short 30 second (baaad quality) intro for her to get a few pointers from. She liked it and insisted that I apply for a job Dj-ing with KJR.EsReverniDrawrof: How did she know about KJR?DjShig: She worked for KJR at the time LOL I just happened to be friends with the right person at the right time

EsReverniDrawrof: So Shig, do you want to Dj in RL, or do you already?DjShig: To tell you the truth, voice Dj-ing doesn’t

Page 39: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

strike me as the thing I want to do in real life. I’m already a musician. I’ve already played in front of thousands of people.EsReverniDrawrof: You could do both, look at Alice Cooper.DjShig: If I’m going to do any Djing irl, it’s two turn tables and a microphone LOL I guess I just like being creative with my music. I want to compose, create, and ultimately play my own music.

EsReverniDrawrof: Do you perform live now?DjShig: Yes, of course LOLEsReverniDrawrof: What’s in the future for KJR ?DjShig: The future is bright and smiling...we’ve got a few new Djs lined up and can’t wait to announce them. They’re kinda the hidden pride and joy of KJR at the moment LOL We have some great talent lined up, and I can’t wait to see them live and on the air.

EsReverniDrawrof: Ok, so what’s in the future for Shig? What are your goals?DjShig: Well, I’ve been working a great deal with KJR. I would love to manage the station, set up parties, and of course Dj.

EsReverniDrawrof: What are your plans as a musician?DjShig: To do what every musician dreams to do… keep making music. I love writing, and even if my music doesn’t make it past Youtube, it’s mine, and it made it somewhere LOL

EsReverniDrawrof: How can we find you on Youtube?DjShig: I have an account, and been building up great ideas. I don’t have anything published yet, so keep an eye out. I’ll be announcing my Youtube channel when it’s launched.EsReverniDrawrof: Thanks for your time Shig, let us know, and we’ll be sure to check it out.

Well, if you’re religious the bible says this time by fire. If you love the Walking Dead you know zombies are coming. It’s said the Mayans have predicted the end of the world for Dec 21, 2012. The 2012 Apocalypse is predicted by an intersection of Religions, Sciences, and Prophesies. What are you doing to prepare? Are you preparing? How will you spend the last months? Is this legit or just a bunch of crap. This is the question we posed to the TREND Studios group, and they had some interesting things to say about it. We will explore the 2012 Apocalypse theories and predictions of who or what group may behind the inner workings of ‘the war to end all wars’? What acts of nature may cause the apocalypse 2012? As well as in the end give you out opinion.

The Mayans viewed ‘time’ and ‘dates’ as meshing spiritual cycles. The Mayan calendar was sacred and religious; each day had its own patron spirit. The Mayan grand cycle of evolution will culminate on December 21, 2012 AD. The 2012 Apocalypse. This time now has many names “The Time of Trial on Earth,” “Judgment Day,” “The Time of Great Purification,” “The End of this Creation,” “The Quickening,” “The End of Time as We Know It,” “The Shift of the Ages,” “The Apocalypse” and “Armageddon”.

It is foretold that the completion of the Mayan Calendar brings regeneration of Earth, offering an awakening to all with open hearts and minds. As keen stargazers, the ancient Maya were familiar with astrological cycle we call the Precession of the Equinoxes. This is close to a 26,000 year cycle in which Earth passes through each of the 12 signs of the zodiac for 2000-2152 years each. Each of these astrological ages represents one month of the Cosmic Year. The Mayans were known worldwide for their architectural, artistic, mathematical and scientific achievements. With great attention to detail they constructed stone monuments and pyramids with precise computations. Built with

purpose, these dates were left to ensure that future generations would be alerted to the end point of this great 26,000 year cycle - The 2012 Apocalypse.

On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. Others believe gravitational, magnetic, and solar energies will go awry when this galactic and planetary alignment occurs, causing an array of natural disasters, including the weakening of our magnetic field, allowing solar radiation to penetrate our atmosphere and the 2012 Apocalypse.

So why not simply ask the Mayans if the world is going to end? That is the question we wondered at TREND Studios, so well, we did! A member who recently visited South America did just that and unfortunately for those who do believe in the hype, they confirmed that there will in fact be no 2012 Apocalypse due to the Mayan calendar.

Another theory is a prediction of the third and final “Anti-Christ”. Nostradamus a French Apothecary predicted the First Two to be Napoleon and Hitler. While many continue to speculate that certain politicians will take up this deadly title, Nostradamus tells us that the Anti-Christ will come from Arabia wearing a blue turban. Nostradamus says that a man from Greater Arabia will lead his forces on an invasion through Europe. The Blue or Indigo Turban is traditional garb worn in The Saharan Desert by most countries in Northern Africa. The Peshawar Blue Turban is worn in the tribal regions of NorthWest Pakistan. This man of sin will have the number 666 within his name, seal, and/or title Rev 13:18, for it is the number of a man, the greatest False Prophet. He appears as a

Page 43: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

righteous and Godly man and is also given the power to perform miracles Rev 13:13-14 and 2 Thess 2:1-10. Nostradamus speaks of life changing things happening in 1666, 1999, 2012, and 2096.

Nostradamus speaks of a series of natural disasters caused by a comet that will allow the third Antichrist to disperse his troops around the globe under the guise of aid in preparation for a possible nuclear war, although in the strictest sense it is unspecific as to nuclear war or some other natural or man caused destruction. These set of actions could set off the apocalypse of 2012.

Lastly, a few natural disasters caught our eye. A super volcano or super volcanic eruption is a volcanic eruption which is of such great magnitude greater that it’s eruption can cause long-lasting change to weather, like the triggering of an ice age or ‘volcanic winter’. A magnitude large enough to threaten the extinction of species, and cover huge areas of the earth with lava and ash. In addition to the apocalyptic changes in temperatures around the world, a super-volcano can blast billions and billions of metric tons of sulphuric acid into the atmosphere. This causes acid rain to fall around the world.

The energy of an impact from 433 eros would be equivalent to 100 million megatons of TNT, 6 million times more energetic than the 1980 Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption. The impact would eject rock from several kilometers beneath the surface of the Earth and carved out a bowl-shaped crater nearly 100 km in diameter. In addition, the shock of the impact would produce magnitude 10 earthquakes, which were greater than the magnitude of any we have ever measured in modern times. Other effects such as a tsunami approximately 50 to 100 meters high should be expected. Near the impact crater the debris is tens to hundreds of meters thick,

while it’s plume reaches as far away as 2000 km. Additional material was lofted in an expanding, vapor-rich plume that included gas from the vaporized asteroid or comet. This plume would rise far above the Earth’s atmosphere, enveloping it, and eventually depositing a thin layer of debris around the entire world. The darkness as predicted in the book of revelation.

Polar reversal is process by which the North and South pole reverses position. According to a new study, when polar reversal is in early stage (which is now), the tectonic plates are heavily affected by the changing electro magnetic fields and the result is change in flux characteristics affecting the gravity. During polar reversal the equilibrium between electromagnetic forces and the gravity of the earth as well as the other parts of the solar system and the galaxy is disturbed. The net effect is unpredictable erratic behavior of the continental and oceanic plates. It is evident now that increasing number and intensities in hurricanes, volcanoes and earthquakes all over the world are caused by the electromagnetic influence of the terrestrial polar reversal. In the present decade the earth has experienced the largest three earthquakes in over two hundred years. The under water volcanoes and earthquakes have gone up 88% over the last three years. The continental earthquakes have gone up by 62% during the same time frame. The rate of increase of earthquakes and volcanoes against time is staggering. Some scientists believe the ongoing polar reversal is accelerating and will eventually have reverse polarity in North and South pole. According to the simulation model, the earth’s inner core and outer core is going through some serious disturbances causing increased frequency and strength of earthquakes and volcanoes as we approach the year 2012. The 2012 apocalypse is near.

Unfortunately for some of these theories such as the asteroids, the deadlines have already passed

making the predications folly. But what did the members of TREND have to say? The general view was while some do believe the world is going to end, they had no intent of joining Doomsday Preppers in attempting to prepare for it. Users like RaphaelDesti say, “Nah! If things come to an end I’ll have wanted to just live life as usual and go out with a bang wondering why didn’t I buy that darn bunker!” While some have taken note of the supposed zombie attacks in few states users like EsReverniDrawrof make light of it. “Zombies? No worries, I’m getting solar powered treadmills...like 65 of them, and I’m surrounding my house- 2 layers deep. While they’re occupied, I’ll just peck em off with a shotgun.”

What do we think? The world will end eventually and everyone will live in space, but you can only take life as it comes, so enjoy it! However, it really doesn’t hurt to investigate into owning a 22 LR and then learning how to fire it. Just sayin!

What is this Halloween Event that you’ve concocted?

Wow. Well it’s really already reached far beyond my expectations initially. I had hopes for epic but I had no idea everything would fall into place with extreme awesomeness of those participating. (-whispers- well it took a lot of hounding & chasing after... lol but I did it. ;)) I only had goal of 5 donators, prepared fully to fund the majority myself with raised stakes for this year but wow... I just had no idea the amount of generous creators that would jump on board. -quickly sneaks to try to quick count just the “general prize donators”- lol. At least 20. I’m still trying to sort out the craziness for the Exclusive Items contest & Dev Mesh contest... -begins to get massively distracted by 100 more things I have to do yet- lol.

Who all is involved in the event?

Who is doing all the work? Me. HA. -laughs-. Who

is participating, is an amazing sort of all kinds of genres of creators, developers & just incredible people. You will have to come on by & check it out! There are so many it would take me until Halloween to list them. lol.

What kind of contest do you have going on within the major event?

Oh boy. That’s a loaded question & probably much easier answered as What kind of contest isn’t in the event. lol. There are edited & unedited art contests, -pauses to think as I count on my hands- 5 I believe...-pauses to make sure I counted right- Yes, 5 different art types of contests & then a dev’ing contest & the global ad one. Which I guess is also art based so 6 of those. -laughs-. Its mass chaos this year because I was hell bent on making it epic & epic it’s already becoming based on the prizes & contests. Plus of course games, raffles, giveaways, costume contest, etc all sorts

Page 49: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

of ways to win things. I believe I’m at roughly 300k + in prize value atm. The most awesome & what you don’t see every day is I have meshes & dev files being given away as prizes, custom art, custom hp design & icon & banner design from a few people (along with massive bundles as well). Was such an amazing opportunity to have some of those creators jump on board. And their prizes are best of the best! Also had an awesome pour in of creators making special exclusive items strictly for us & the event so that’s really exciting as well. -points to Naughty & smiles-

Do you have to be able to edit in order to participate?

No. Lordy no. lol. I really do go out of my way to provide everything there is for a group to have & for all levels of experience having equal chance was even more important to me. In my year round group I brainstormed to come up with a way so those who compete side by side who vary in graphic experience have equal chance at all prizes. Meaning, Advanced & Non-Advanced. Contest prize amounts do suffer only because I have to offer the same amount of prizes for one as the other. (give or take a few because there are always more in advanced-intermediate area). So instead of having let’s say 20k as 1st place. It becomes 10k & 10k, first place for both categories. Then someone who may not even know graphic programs like Photoshop or gimp & only uses paint or photobucket have the equal chance at a 1st place prize as an advanced artist. I’ve left it tentative to having categories for this event & depends on the level of what’s submitted.

Can you tell us a bit about the Scavenger Hunt?

-smiles & eyes light up as I nod- My Scavenger Hunts... -beams like a proud mother- Lord have mercy those took almost 2 years to perfect. Perfect to my standards anyway. lol. I’d have to say those are the real heart & soul & of course so much time. I got the idea because I’ve always loved hidden object games & with that came me hiding things here & there in my public rooms. No one knows they’re there but me. -laughs- But now I’ll get visitors while I’m in my office peeking under the desk. LOL.

I wanted to do that but on a much larger scale. And 2 years later my 2 Scavenger Hunt Rooms were released. The feedback just made it all worth it. Anyone can do them but prizes are awarded to

group members first (then of course I always make sure non group players get some prizes as well). There are riddles on the walls of the rooms, along with directions. You figure the riddle answer & find it someplace in the room. Sometimes I have hints; sometimes I tell you where to go for hints (like hp or in interests on avi card etc). Last year I think it was over 10k in prizes, not sure yet where I’ll take that number to fit the epic-ness of this year. -sits back & thinks for a moment, careful not to spill a secret- I’ll give you an example... “What number is my name?” -laughs- I know that was a really easy example. lol. Answer is obviously 13. So you would look around the room (sometimes more than 1 level or floor) to find a hidden “13” there. And of course you have to follow the rules of how to submit your answers etc. I open them about 12pm EST on the 31st & keep them open at least 12 hours. I’ve factored in that some won’t be able to get online until evening so the prizing actually happens in sections of the day so everyone has a chance to win.

Can you tell us a bit about the Global AD Contest?

-demeanor adjusts from carefree to a more serious tone-. I’m incredibly protective & extremely slave driven when it comes to my actual business. There is no playing around. I’m blessed, more than many & was taught to give back & help others if you have the means. I see so much awesome talent on here. So much un-noticed talent I should say & frankly it breaks my heart because I think if just the right person was to see their talent, wow, the doors of opportunity could just be once in a lifetime & life changing as well. I thought long on whether I wanted to open that flood gate. Weighing risks as I always do in order to make sure I was not going to put my reputation in the business world in any jeopardy.

My dad who I lost last year always said, you never know what tomorrow will bring, so do what your heart desires & live with no regret. -gathers composure & takes a breath-... In that I decided I would not only have a chance for someone’s art to be featured in my company’s global advertisement (which is essentially the ‘contest’) but extended it with greater opportunities... The direct link to join imvu & direct link into that specific thread is being sent on a mass level to all my business affiliates & a few others who are those “right people” so to speak. I’ve expressed too many how much talent is here & that I had faith there

were many Diamond in the Roughs to discover. Businesses are always looking for the next great whatever & if I could steer a few into the imvu world to see what I see just maybe it might give them what their looking for & potentially change an imvu’s member life. That chance, even if slim was worth all risks weighed.

How was this Halloween Event developed?

Initially I ran only 1 group during October because of my love of Halloween. Knowing I had means others didn’t, I’ve always been one to do whatever I can so everyone can feel or be a part of something special. After a few years it became something a cult following looked forward to & I was excited & happy to provide that with my own time, heart & money. Last year I was asked by enough people & had been in a few contest groups myself that were, how shall I say this eloquently, unfair & bias, which led me to open my year round groups in November.

One reason that remains true not only to me but everyone who joins... Fairness. This is a real issue among groups. I won’t get into the ways but most know what that entails. It’s disheartening & sad because people put their hearts into their work & time & talent & well, that just breaks my heart. If you were to ask anyone group related or social they would probably tell you in describing me as Fair, hands down. Honest. Respect required. Upholds class & genuine. I’m proud of “Thirteenn’s Contest Group” & its extension “Thirteenn’s Contest Group Non AP” group’s description. And I stand behind every word. I care for every one of those members. I’ve stood up for them, led them, and appreciated them. It’s cheesy but they are a family. Because this year is the first year I have year round groups & keeping up with my October Events (& knowing I was literally going all out) I’ve kept to my usual of having it be its own group (groups). Which is how “Thirteenn’s 2012 Halloween Event Group” & its extension “Thirteenn’s 2012 Halloween Event Group GA” were formed.

Will the culmination of this event be a party? If so how do you get in? “

The Halloween Party / Costume contest will be the wrap up. From that it’s all judging & awarding prizes. Anyone can come to the room. I’m not keeping it private. I will open all Scavenger Hunt

Rooms & Official Party Room noon ish on the 31st. I have a thread where I will post the names of the rooms once their open but anyone can search my name probably to find them. Descriptions & titles will determine what is what. If the room does get busy it will be group members first then others asked to come back when it’s not as busy but otherwise come on by! lol. Darkside may have cookies but I have prizes & CANDY! -laughs-

Anything else you would like to add?

COME JOIN IN MY LOVE FOR HALLOWEEN & ALL THE AMAZING THINGS MY 2012 HALLOWEEN EVENT GROUP WILL HAVE... BUT HANG ON BC ITS GOING TO BE AN EPIC RIDE! ;)

When digging through my wardrobe this month pon-dering what to show you as editor’s choice this month. I came across a simple set of pearls. Women tend to not know, or forget the beauty of a pearl. In terms of sheer beau-ty, it is hard to surpass a pearl.

Pearls, if worn appropriately, could be one of your skin’s fin-est assets. Wearing pearl jewelry the correct way will help you look sophisticated and fashion-able, and less like your grand-mother. Pearls can be worn at any age, and still look contem-porary. Their simple, yet elegant

I couldn’t very well leave the men out as fall; it is just as much a time of change for them as the ladies. This is the time of year especially is where you start to see boots re-emerging as more than a fashion statement. They can be worn with almost any kind of pant regardless of body shape or

size. There are not too many of these particular style boots in the catalog and you do have to wade through a few mind bogglers to find the good ones, but there is a good amount of colors available. Make sure to use the try it room before spending your credits on a pair that you may or may not end

up liking. The height of the boots depends on the style that you end up picking out. These universal boots are a must have in any male wardrobe. More importantly, this particular style of boot isn’t just for men; the women can rock them and look good too!

Guide to the Scarf

Page 71: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

The simplest clothing can be given an ex-tra boost of style by wearing the right accessories. A big buckle and broad belt can make the most ordinary pair of jeans look very attractive. The same could be said of scarves. Don’t limit yourself to a scarf’s practical properties; scarves are a pretty way to add polish to your outfit.

Not to mention scarf’s have the added value of providing protection from the sun in summer-time, as well as warmth during the chilling winds of winter time. When tied properly, scarves can even breathe new life into a dress or shirt, cus-tomizing your wardrobe for free. Experimentation and creativity are the keys to wearing scarves in a new and fashionable way. Not only can women use these tips, but men too!

While I usually add a scarf as a last-minute detail when I’m running out the door, I often don’t have time to style it as part of the ensemble – so it can end up looking sloppy. This season, though, I’ve vowed to use my scarves to make an impact, so I’ve been scouring the web for different ways to wear them.

The initial thing you will want to think about is color. There are numerous distinct applications for scarves, so you definitely want to take into ac-count the current colors of your wardrobe and which colors are a lot more formal than others. As always, if you are looking to add a bit more intrigue to your outfit, the color options and de-signs are endless! However before anything ask yourself these three questions:

1. Do I need the scarf to serve a functional purpose? For instance, does it need to keep you

warm or protect you from the sun?

2. What do I plan to wear the scarf with? This is especially important because if you plan on wearing the scarf as an accessory to a suit, a warm winter scarf probably isn’t the best option. Similarly, if you’re wearing a scarf as a funky add-on to a laid back wardrobe, a silk scarf may be a little over the top.

3. Do I need the scarf to be long enough or wide enough to tie and/or style? Some scarf fash-ions require longer scarves in order to tie them the correct way.

If you plan to wear a scarf during the warm days of spring and summer, choose a lightweight, gauzy scarf that won’t weigh you down. While any color works, lighter or brighter scarves are a fun way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe. To jazz up a shorts-and-tee outfit, simply hang a long scarf around your neck without twisting or tying it. For a similarly cool look, wrap the long scarf around your neck once or twice, but pull the loop so it drapes in a wide circle, rather than sitting close to your neck. Wearing an infinity scarf also accom-plishes this same look. When the sun is really beating down or the wind begins to blow, you can wear a scarf to help protect your head, neck and face from the elements.

If you’re using a square scarf, fold it in half to create a triangle, and then simply drape the scarf over your head with the long side of the triangle facing forward, the point facing backward. Tie the two ends of the long side of the triangle togeth-er at the nape of your neck for an instant hair-tamer. To achieve the same benefit while using a

trend | Fashion

Page 72: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

long scarf, drape the scarf over your head with both ends of the scarf hanging in front of your shoulders. Then wrap one end of the scarf all the way around your neck to help hold the in place. Some very long or wide scarves may be used as summertime wraps or bandeau tops to cover-up after a swim. Simply wrap the scarf around your body and tie it in place.

When it’s cold outside, scarves are a great way to stay warm. Choose a scarf made of a material like wool or fleece, and then wrap the scarf close to your head and neck to prevent the wind and snow from getting in. You can fold a long winter scarf in half and wrap it around your neck. Bring the ends through the loop and pull the scarf taut to hold the style in place. You can also create an in-finity-style scarf look by wrapping a scarf around your neck several times before tucking the ends into the loop. Wear the scarf as tight or as loose as you’d like.

Depending on your personal preference, you can wear the scarf tucked into your outerwear or hanging outside of your jacket or coat. Now that we have covered the basics of wearing a scarf, here are a few fun ways to tie them!

The Parisian is the most popular knot. Here’s how to tie a scarf in a Parisian knot: Take the scarf in both hands and fold it over lengthwise; drape it around your neck; insert the loose ends through the loop hanging in front of you and pull them through. You can play with the tautness of the knot and the thickness of the scarf by doubling the scarf lengthwise, if you wish.

The once-around knot is your entry-level knot for all those brisk days when you need a little extra comfort but don’t want to go with complete arctic readiness. The point of this knot is casual warmth. To learn how to tie a scarf in a once-around knot, drape the scarf around your neck allowing one end to be longer than the other. Take the long end and bring it around your neck and let it fall over your chest. If you have a long neck, overlap the scarf in back just a bit so that most of your neck between the jacket and the base of your skull is covered.

The loose once-around knot is more about fash-

ion and having the scarf with you “just in case.” When it comes to knowing how to tie a scarf in a loose once-around knot, the same rules apply as the regular once-around knot: Drape it loosely as though you haven’t the time to finish the job right.

The twice-around knot challenges the Parisian as your go-to knot on those cold days. In fact, if you like the Parisian knot, you might change up your loowk with the twice-around just for fun without sacrificing warmth. Here’s how to tie a scarf in a twice-around knot: Begin as you would with the once-around with both ends hanging in front of you, but make sure one is significantly longer than the other. Take the much longer end and circle it around your neck twice; do this without making the knot too tight. Getting the lengths of the ends to match up or come out relatively close will take a bit of practice, but a knot like this will make all the difference on a cold day.

As a bonus, we have decided to include two other popular knots in this article. These knots you may have seen recently. These two particular styles you will most commonly find with casual outfits as opposed to something more formal. However, this does not mean that you cannot wear either style with any outfit that you choose. Remember there are thousands of possibilities and it is up to you and your creativity to create an outfit that you love!

Take one end of a wide scarf and place it on your shoulder. Take one corner from the other end and make a little knot on one shoulder. Leave the last corner free to give the triangle look.

Although it looks complicated, this scarf style is easy to tie. Just double up the scarf and wrap it around your neck. Take one end and thread it through the loop, rotate the loop, and then thread through the other end.

Well there you have it, some fashionable and fun ways for men and women to wear a scarf! Send us a picture, and let us know how you wear you choose to wear your scarf!

“I believe that one defines oneself by reinvention. To not be like your parents. To not

be like your friends. To be yourself.”

That got us thinking about the necessity of reinvention. Fall is certainly a season of change, with the shift in weather, the return to school, the winding down of opportunity to achieve your year’s goals.

Page 79: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

This fall it’s important to realize the impact of one article of clothing. I don’t think men will ever understand the effect that one article of clothing worn exceptionally well can have on a woman, nor what it can do for his

confidence.

So this month we’ve decided to explore the effects of the blazer and the cardigan.

The blazer is one of the most essential pieces of the male wardrobe. Descended from greatness, it’s a great piece of clothing that all too often gets relegated to the back of the closet as ‘too dressy’. However, it’s not as if you need to constantly be wearing a full suit to be able to make a blazer work for you. The blazer is a true gentlemanly piece of clothing. It’s been worn by everybody, from great heroes like Washington and Bonaparte, to great dandies like Brummell and Wilde; and while they might not have called them blazers, their ‘surcoats’ were the spiritual ancestors of the blazer, as we know it today. They say a cardigan is just a sweater but I say a cardigan can be a very important part of your wardrobe. Investing in a sweater with buttons gives you free range to style it many different ways.

Page 82: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

Originally a gentleman’s only piece that became a part of everyday clothing, the blazer is cut similarly to the jacket component of a suit. The difference is that the blazer is typically a little bit more casual, and the designer is given a lot more latitude in construction. Details like shank buttons, peaked lapels, and other little flourishes are often characteristic of a blazer. The easiest way to explain it is with heritage: blazers in earlier years were part of a school uniform, and sports jackets were worn for hunting and fishing. That’s why blazers have a preppy connotation and are, more often than not, navy blue. These days, sports jacket has become a catchall term for anything that’s not a blazer or part of a suit. A blazer can come in a variety of styles we recommend owning in any of the three styles listed below and at least one sports jacket, whether it’s cotton, tweed, wool, or linen; lined or unlined; brown, black, khaki, or plaid. And yeah, we said at least one.

Not quite the sweater and not quite the vest. The cardigan brings the best of both worlds to the table. With winter right around the corner,

it’s time to start layering. What better way to spruce up your style than by adding a cardigan into your collection of clothes? Well it’s quite simple really; it keeps you warm and serves as a great layering piece, either under a jacket or as a standalone for an outer layer. A cardigan can emphasize the highly regarded silhouette and enhance the desired V-taper guys want from clothes and offer versatility: Can be dressed up and dressed down. It produces very different looks for very different outfits, making it more of a staple. Basically, more bang for your buck!) Let’s explore some of these looks!

The Blazer: Jeans and a dress shirt sort of the schoolmaster look; this works best with a tweed, or navy blazer. Looking every bit the academic, you’ll be evoking memories of fall afternoons on the college quad. Plenty of girls love that semi-academic look, so pair your blazer with a pair of slim Levi’s and a white dress shirt with the collar undone. Ties here is optional, but if you feel the need to wear one, pick a necktie with college stripes or crests to carry the theme. Don’t forget

Page 83: October 2012 Issue #39 featuring Dutch

that perfect final touch, a dog-eared copy of your favorite English lit book.

The Cardigan: Flannel shirt and a medium wash pair of jeans brought together with a more casual-styled belt drives home the rugged look. Combined with the dressy elements of a cardigan and black tie easily ties the looks together. Stick with a black tie, it’s a classic that will never go out of style and makes pairing tie and shirt combos easy.

The Blazer: With black slacks or khakis is a combination that can be surprisingly tricky to pull off. Many men buy a blazer then spend the rest of their life trying to find matching slacks. Here’s a tip: they don’t exist. Blazers are made as blazers, and suits are made as suits, so don’t worry about it. The goal here is a casual look, so go for more contrast rather than entirely matching. Try this on for a look; navy blazer, tan khakis, and a crisp white dress shirt. Not feeling it? Try a tweed blazer, black slacks, and a

crisp blue shirt. Have fun and play around with different arrangements until you find some looks that works for you.

The Cardigan: Modern prep, how the cardigan used to be rocked back in the day, now updated. Gingham button down with a patterned tie, brought together with a cardigan on top. If you know how to wear a vest, this is exactly the same. Nothing different from what guys are use to with the vest except the fact that you’ll be warmer and able to play with more looks. To obtain the same style, unbutton the cuff on your dress shirt, flip it up and push your sleeves up for a more casual vibe. Stay away from actually rolling up the sleeve, its just more a push, the cardigan’s sleeve should hold everything in place. To change it up a bit, have the sleeves pushed up at varying lengths.

The Blazer: A sweater and a button up shirt is a classic fall option, it’s as essential to autumn living as scarves and playoff baseball. The button

up shirt gives your blazer the structure it needs, while the sweater keeps you warm and builds layering. Grab a pair of nice jeans (no holes or distressing here), a plain wool sweater, and a button up shirt. Wear them. Dead simple, but if this option feels a little conservative for you, living it up with a pair of Chuck Taylors to add youth to the look.

The Cardigan: For a style that’s fully dressed up and just downright classy. Some days its just not cold enough to wear a jacket, yet still a bit chilly. Same as above, wear it like how you would wear a vest. It’s a great substitute for one and feel free to throw your suit jacket on top. Think ‘black tie’ event or what you’d wear to work and simply add the cardigan as a layer. Make sure the cardigan is the right length where you can show off a quarter inch of cuff. It adds a nice dash of color to the ensemble that works especially well with dress shirts in vibrant colors!

The Blazer: Recently, fashion forward celebrities have made the blazer an acceptable black tie choice, and for once this is an instance where the average guy can pull it off with confidence. Pair a tweed blazer with a pair of black slacks, formal shoes, a crisply pressed white dress shirt, and a black self-tied bow tie for a very modern, high class look. While it’s not entirely acceptable for the most staid of black tie functions, it’s a brilliant choice for formal night on the town or for those dates where a simple sweater and jeans will not do.

The Cardigan: For those who want to take things to a completely different level. This not only adds a couple of layers, but adds more dimensions to the look, with varying ‘V’ tapers in the outfit. Different shades of the same color for both the vest and cardigan will create dimensions in the look that emphasizes style, without making the whole ensemble too loud. If you want to dress to impress and stand out

from the crowd, here’s one outfit that’ll do just that. Button as few buttons on the cardigan as possible, it’ll create more of a contrast between the two items.

The Blazer: With the sleeves rolled up is another look. With girls, this is called the ‘boyfriend blazer’ look. On guys it’s called awesome. While the title of the entry might have you skeptical, and envisioning Miami Vice, fashion forward men need not fear this option. A larger, unstructured blazer with a flashy liner is needed for this look. Roll up the sleeves, to let the liner show, and wear it as a sort of jacket. Complete the outfit with sneakers, a t-shirt, slim jeans, and a disaffected look. Admittedly a very youth-oriented, fashion-forward combination, but on the right guy it looks great and really gets people’s attention.

The Cardigan: This look is simply casual. A simple V neck paired with a cardigan with the

sleeves pushed up. Pair it with anywhere from a medium-light wash pair of jeans all the way to dark. Just make sure you’re boots align with the wash.

Rugged yet dressy, that’s what this look is all about. This season is all about combining both hard and soft looks together through different layers. Be creative when wearing a blazer or cardigan. Test out different looks! Instead of focusing on just buttoned up or unbuttoned go a step further, play with the number of buttons you have buttoned or unbuttoned. A good rule of thumb: don’t button the last button. It’ll flare out, which gives the same appearance of an un-tucked dress shirt, but more importantly it won’t balloon up in a weird fashion. But more importantly, have fun and enjoy!

When you think of the top 20 most talented and simplistic developers of imvu, krissyangl2’s name definitely comes to mind. She is mostly known for her Asian inspired products as well as how true to tradition her textures stay. This particular room is no different, and fortunately for us she’s created this room multiple times with different effects. Since we are falling for autumn, we wanted to do this room.

The gorgeous mesh she derived from was created by unssky. KrissyAngl2 has textured a beautiful original Japanese temple.

With plenty of room for your own items the room is designed in an open layout with three separate temples that have the ability to hold furniture. What makes this room perfect for the season is her choice of colors. Not only are you surrounded in autumn ambience but you experience the pleasantry of the falling leaves coating the ground. This room is a definite fall must have!
