Guitar Lessons – Fall 2013 LAST CHANCE!

From September 25th to November 27th a teacher from the École de Musique du BSL will run a session of 10 guitar lessons at the Centre des loisirs de Métis-sur-Mer on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

During the first lesson, there will be conversations about why the participants signed up, their expectations and a presentation of the classical guitar and its accessories.From these discussions, the teacher will create a syllabus tailored to the students’ needs which will cover the majority of the following: correct playing posture, the right hand, the left hand, fingering, note learning, chords, practice of easy pieces, and suggestions for individual practice which will increase progress.During the final lesson there will be the possibility of giving a small performance.The lesson content will be adjusted according to the progress of the students.

Maximum of 10 participants for the session (2 places still available, guitar rental offered)Price: between $99.51 and $124.39 per person, depending on the number of participants(Cost before subsidy: $390 per person)

NEW Senior’s Wellness Day

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence and the 50+ Club of Les Boules are joining together to offer a series of 10 health activity days. These will take place on Tuesdays from October 1st to December 3rd

2013, at the Centre des loisirs. The activities will be offered in French and English in two groups simultaneously; Ginette Laflamme and Françoise Rousseau will lead the activities in English and French respectively. These wellness days are aimed at men as well as women.

Schedule:10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Viactive (physical activities adapted for people over 50)11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch (hearty soup and dessert)1 to 2:30 p.m. Jog Your Brain (cognitive vitality workshop for seniors)

There is no cost for the workshops but we ask for a $2 contribution per person for the lunch.

Carpooling will be organised, please let us know if you need transport or if you can offer spaces.

Quilt making for sick children

A quilt making project for sick children is being organized in the region.

In order to be able to buy new material with which to create the quilts, there will be a draw for a quilt (36” x 54”) and a stained glass “sailing boat and fish”

The draw will take place in the fall; 1,000 tickets are on sale for 99¢ each.

Help received to improve the road network

Following the recommendation of Mr. Pascal Bérubé, Minister for the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Member for Matane-Matapédia, Mr. Sylvain Gaudreault, Minister for Transport, has agreed to grant $35,000 to the municipality of Métis-sur-Mer to improve its municipal road network.

This financial help will go towards improvements in the following areas: • Rue Plourde, • Les Boules Hill, • Beach Road opposite the school and at the junction with route 132 by the Petit Miami.
