Dear Community,

The Board wishes all of you Mehrgan Mubarak as we prepare to celebrate the Fasli parab of

Meher Yazad, the divinity associated with justice.

According to "A Guide To The Zoroastrian Religion" by Firoze Kotwal & James Boyd, this

jashan is a time for love and also gratitude for life. In ancient times, a cruel and murderous

King Zohak, ruled Iran. He was ultimately defeated by Shah Faridoon with the help of the

blacksmith, Kaveh, and Faridoon and the people celebrated a great Jashan on Mehrgan day. Fa-

ridoon's reign ushered in an era of safety and peace.

We may invoke and ask for Meher Yazad's blessing, with the following kshnuman, taken from

Yasna 16:

"Mithrem vouru gaoyaoitim yazamaide.” We revere Meher the possessor of wide pastures.

We hope to see you all at our Mehrgan celebrations!

CHILDREN’S RELIGION CLASS

It was a pleasure to have Dasturji Khurshed K Dastur come to ZANT & talk to our kids about the “Significance of our Daily Prayers” and “Story of the Iranshah Atash Behram”. He defi-nitely made a great impression on our kids & drove the message home! Thank you Dasturji!

Our next children’s religious class will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Please be at the ZANT Center by 10:45 am so we can have the Prayers & Tandarosti for kids in the Prayer Room at 11 a.m. before the Religious Class.

We are very grateful to our Parent Volunteers for catering lunch for our kids & adults & a monthly Birthday cake, at each Religious Class. We’d like to thank the Mistry (Kashmira & Kavas), Sarkari and Rustomji families for September lunch & dessert!

To support the good work being done by the Weekend Wonders 4 Kidz, please bring your food item donation & put it in the drop-box at the ZANT Center.

VOHU MANAH GROUP

Please join us as we begin another season of Gatha-studies. This year we will take up the Ushtavaiti Gatha. Our experience last year of reading, discussing, and analyzing the stanzas of the Ahunavaiti Gatha taught us the relevance of the precious words of our Prophet Zarathush-tra. We also realized that there is so much depth in the words that it was beneficial to focus on only a few stanzas each month. Please join us as we begin the study of Ushtavaiti Gatha, Yasna Ha 43. Let's learn from each other and enrich our lives. Everyone is most welcome!

ZANT along with India Association of North Texas celebrated India’s Independence Day at Anand Bazar. We sold Falooda and Chai at our stall and our fundraiser was a success.

ZAH is having their Annual Raffle. The Raffle tickets sale is online along with information about the prizes at http://zah.org/?event=zah-raffle-2016. Payment by PayPal would be the preferred option but if paying by check or cash, ZAH should receive the payment latest by November 1, 2016. There are some great prizes to be won and all the proceeds will be going towards our Vi-sion2020 program which includes initiatives like strengthening our Maintenance Reserves, etc. It is a great way to win fabulous prizes whilst supporting the ZAH initiatives.

The results will be drawn on 11/19/2016 during their Annual Fundraiser event (Shahnaz Sidhwa's Play) and you DO NOT need to be present to win.

WEEKEND WONDERS 4 KIDZ

Weekend Wonders 4 Kidz is happy to announce its newest official partner, ZANT!

As the new school year is already here, we are ramping up our food/fundraising efforts to help feed hungry children in the communities in which we live.

Research shows that hunger is one of the most significant problems currently occurring in the United States, with approximately 17 mil-lion children going hungry each year. These kids sit next to ours in the classroom, play with ours on the playground and compete with ours on the soccer field.

Our new initiative to help these childrens' ongoing need will be the Food of the Month Club. Each month through the newsletter or E-flash we will let you all know the one product we will be collecting. Whenever you are attending a function or passing the ZANT Center, please feel free to drop off your donation and we will be happy to pick it up. Of course, funds are always welcome! Donation has never been easier, we have set up a PayPal account that you can use and we also accept cash and checks. Please remember, we are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible. Please like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and lookout for our new website.

The children of the Zoroastrian Association of North Texas (ZANT) have written and illustrated a book on Zoroastrian Festivals. This book is a “must have” for every Zoroastrian home library and we urge our community to purchase this Special Limited Edition for your own family and friends.

Please support our children’s hard work and effort in raising funds for the ZANT Center Operation and Maintenance fund.
