Alpha – Got Questions?
We all have questions throughout life – and sometimes faith has an
answer (and a hope to offer).
Have you ever been confused by Christianity? Do you wonder about the pur-
pose of prayer….if God already knows what on your mind? What does the church really believe
and teach about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? What’s the purpose of the church? We all
have questions about faith throughout our lives….and so we’re offering Alpha.
Alpha is an experience designed for younger adults curious about Christian faith, who want to
seek the truth, and who want a place to learn more and ask questions in a non-intimidating
environment. You may be fairly new or have questions about Christianity, or perhaps you’ve
been around Christianity much of your life. Either way Alpha is for you.
Plus there will be really good food! The basic outline is that we’ll eat, have a talk, and discuss
what was said. Come with a body, mind and spirit that is hungry for faith. Tuesday’s 6:30-
7:30. All are welcome!
Tuesday, October 10 – Is There More To Life Than This?
October 17 – Who Is Jesus & Why Did He Die?
October 24 – What Is Faith and How Can I Have It?
October 31 – Why and How Do I Pray?
November 7 – How and Why Should I Read the Bible?

DAZZLING DIVA TREE … FOR AVA As you know, our community lost an amazing little girl on September 11th when Ava Hutchinson lost her battle with brain cancer. She brightened the world with her smile and her charisma and changed everything/everyone she came in contact with. Ava loved everything girly: pink, purple, sparkles, glitter, emoji’s, makeup, jewelry, nail polish, tiaras, and boas. In honor of Ava and other B-F students who have been touched by Blank Children’s Hospital, the B-F Middle School is coordinating and partic-ipating in the creation of a Dazzling Diva tree for this year’s upcoming Festival of Trees and Lights (the annual fundraiser for Blank Children’s Hospital’s Advocacy and Outreach and the Child Life Program). All of the buildings in the Bondurant-Farrar Community School District will be joining efforts to complete their Dazzling Diva tree. Morris Elementary students will be helping to string glittery, beaded garland, while Anderson Elementary students will work on ornaments and pillows. We Care girls and BFMS 6th graders will make tiaras and a tulle tree skirt; and Mr. Vandehaar’s BFHS art students will add the crowning jewel – a tiara tree topper. Once all the decorations are created, they will be wired to a tree, lit, and proudly displayed for all to enjoy. To make this display a reality, they need a substantial quantity of several items. Please review the list below to see if you are interested and willing to help/make a donation.
Unused makeup/cosmetics (they will be sealing/spray painting these items, then turning them into ornaments and sculptural pieces for the tree) Bon-bon/mini nail polish (in various colors of pink)
Costume jewelry (example: dangling earrings, glittery bracelets, strings of pearls/other glittery necklaces, chunky necklaces, etc.) Clear PLASTIC bulb ornaments
Pink, white, or pink/white sparkly feather boas
Pillow stuffing/filling (loose filling in a bag or pillow forms) Monetary donations to go towards purchasing diva materials (make checks payable to: Anderson Elementary Student Council). Please feel free to place your check in the Offering or give your check to Tamara or Cindy Tendall. Cindy will deliver all donations before October 12th. THERE WILL BE COLLECTION BOXES AT EACH B-F BUILDING WHERE DONATED ITEMS CAN BE BROUGHT and they will accept donations through FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12th. If you no longer have children at school and are interested in donating, feel free to bring items to church through October 8th. Cindy Tendall has created a box for drop off and will make sure donated items are delivered to school before October 12th. Any support is greatly appreciated! By helping create this tree, not only will Ava be honored and remembered, but her school community and classmates will get to put their creative juices to work and see what they can accomplish through teamwork and heart.

Happy fall, to you all! Our year is off to a great start in
Preschool! Everyone is settling into a routine and learning
all of the rules. We’ve been working on singing new songs,
reading new books, and creating new art projects. All of
the kids have done so well! They are adjusting wonderful-
ly… and so are the teachers!
We are ready for fall and all of the exciting things that it will bring to preschool!
October is a very busy month! The Bondurant Public Library will be visiting our classes.
The preschooler’s will also meet with Pastor Jason twice a month for chapel time. And,
since it is Fire Prevention Month, we are expecting a visit from the fire truck!
Pictures are scheduled and, we will wrap up our month with our Fall Parties!
That is it for October. Again, it will be busy but so much fun for the preschoolers! If you
see any of them, be sure to ask them about it… I know they would love to tell you
about how much fun they are having!

MISSION NEWS DMARC CALL FOR HELP! On September 12th, a DMARC representative was interviewed by a KCCI-TV reporter and reported DMARC food pantries have many empty shelves. Current usage is the second highest, and donations are down about $90,000. They know there are 25,000 people in Polk County who still need food, and 38% of those served are children under the age of 18. Families are coming back again and again hoping there will be food.
How can we help??? The best way to get involved is to donate money, because a $1.00 donation can buy up to “6” times the amount a customer can buy at a grocery store because DMARC purchases in bulk. When those items arrive at the warehouse, they are automatically distributed to all “13” food pantry locations.
As you write your offering check(s) in the coming weeks, please remember those who are less fortunate. Simply make your check payable to the BCC and note in the memo portion of the check how you would like your donation divided. Kristin will total all of our donations and mail a check(s) to DMARC, and you will receive credit at the end of the year for your taxes. Cindy made an impromptu Moment for Missions in church on September 17th sharing the above information. She was amazed to learn the congrega-tion placed $278 in the offering designated to DMARC. This is a great start! We are blessed with a caring and generous church family. THANK YOU! … SCHOOL SUPPLIES Dear Bondurant Christian Church,
Thank you so much for your gift of school supplies! Your contributions helped to complete several school bags for our students. Your support helped our children begin a new year of learning!
Thanks again. Bonita Wiley, School-to-Home Coordinator, B-F Schools

RECONCILIATION OFFERING
The Special Offering is used to fund our
Church’s mission imperative to become a
pro-reconciling and anti-racist church utilizing
experiential education, inclusive worship and
intentional dialogue. Our efforts to promote
healing, relationship and restoration in the
whole family of God are enlivened by funds
from this offering. Through it we are able to
provide programs for leadership development,
curriculum for dialogue and learning, and
partnerships within the Church and our
communities.
Recent events have reignited the conver-
sation about human brokenness evidenced in
the sin of racism and perpetuated in our insti-
tutional structures and systems. Your gener-
ous giving to Reconciliation Ministry is trans-
forming lives and strengthening Christ’s wit-
ness in the world showing that we love one
another, even as Christ continues to love us!
PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH
It is a great time to let Pastor Jason
know how much we appreciate him with
kind words, cards and/or a monetary gift.
If you are interested in giving him a mone-
tary gift, please place your contribution in
the offering by October 22 or mail to the
church by October 25. Checks should be
payable to the Bondurant Christian Church
with a designation for Pastor Jason on the
memo line. Cash can be placed in an
envelope marked “Pastor Jason.” Kind
words are always appreciated and will be
accepted throughout the year. Monetary
gifts will be presented to Pastor Jason
on Sunday, October 29.
