Hello Friends

We have had two Board Meetings close together so this Newsletter should be a short

one!

The AGM is coming up next month. Are YOU willing to help move our club forward and

become a Board Member? Our priority is getting new members or our club will slide

away like many other clubs are doing. We are down to only 3 -4 people wanting to travel

so if you haven’t let us know regarding your travel ideas there will be a time at the AGM

to do so.

Kevin and I have just applied to join journey Escape to Wisconsin by Bike, and then the Alaska /Japan

FFI cruise. Don’t forget you can apply to join any other groups journey if there is a space.

Our Poster and sandwich board are finished which we will use at local markets. Thank you to Beth who

has put her hand up to be the Paraparaumu market co-ordinator. We are still looking for someone to keep

an eye open for other general fairs and events we could have a table at so we can have a calendar of

places to be seen at. We are again doing the Kapiti Women’s Expo on November 3rd.

Our new sign is due to go up on Te Moana Road Waikanae. You could have your photo taken by it and

posted on your Facebook, Twitter page, LinkedIn, Your Blog, Your interest groups Facebook page,

Neighbourly page, share this with as many people as you can. Ask your friends and family if they have

seen it, a good conversation starter.

The proposed “Social Membership” which we have revised to “Friends of Kapiti Friendship Force “will

be up for discussion at the AGM in November.

If you’d like to send Beverley a few paragraphs on your trip awa y for our members to read in our

newsletter please do so at any time as I know some of you have been or are going to some interesting

places. We will try and instigate a travel discussion from next year at our coffee mornings. We can then

advertise a travel topic to see if that will interest more new people to join us. If you have any other ideas

for recruiting new members please contact a board member.

In friendship

Sue Harris

From our Almoner

We are wishing Margaret Walton a speedy recovery as she recuperates in Keneperu Hospital from her

stroke several weeks ago. Margaret is making good progress in Ward 6 and will return home when

arrangements have been made for the support she will need.

Edith Hall is also in our thoughts – Edith’s husband has been admitted to Elsdon Lodge.

No need to hurry. No need to sparkle. No need to be anybody but oneself

Country Ramble and Barbecue – Sunday 8 December

Starting at the same place (64 Kotuku Drive, Paraparaumu), It will follow a completely different route from last year. Allan and the Chief Fairy have all the plans in hand and we think you will enjoy it.

Meet at 64 Kotuku Drive, Paraparaumu Sunday 8 December Time: 1.30 p.m. For some refreshments and information If you don’t want to join the ramble, just come for the prize giving and barbecue down at QE Park, it’s going to be fun. There will probably be spaces available in some of the cars, so if you’d like to join in the fun, but need someone to join up with, let the Chief Fairy know and we’ll have you sorted in no time. Contact: Beverley or Allan 297 1622, or text 027 24 22594 You will be given a map, and some questions to answer We recommend 3 or more to a car – it’s more fun.

The world only exists in your eyes. You can make it as big or as small as you want.

THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE PLEDGE

As a member of the Friendship Force I recognise that I can make a difference. I recognise that I have a mission.

That mission is to be a friend to the people of the world. As I embark on this adventure I know that others will be watching me.

I know that through my example to my fellow citizens and people of other countries, the cause of peace and friendship can be furthered.

I can make a difference.
