Corvettes at Carlisle—2021
This is just a friendly reminder that the election will be held during the next General Membership meet-ing on Friday, November 12th. The nominating com-mittee that consist of Barry Roper (Chair), Gary But-ler, Wylie Dubose and Dean Maddern would like to hear from members wishing to contribute to the Club by taking an active role. The heart of any volunteer organization lies in member involvement, allowing the ongoing tasks of running the operation to be shared by many, not burning out the few souls who consistently say yes. All offices are open! If you are interested in any CCR office, please give one of us a call!

A Message from the President

Dear Fellow CCR Members,
What a great 60th Plus One Anniversary celebration! Penny
Johnson and her committee members did a wonderful job.
Many members also stayed to help clean up. Thank you. It
was a big help and very much appreciated. We had a good
time and many gifts were given away thanks to our sponsors,
Zip Products and CMA Colonial Chevrolet. They are great
supporters for us and have helped each of us in many ways.
The year is getting close to an end, and we still have events
planned, thanks to John Rhodes’ help. He has done a fantastic
job for us this year. Thanks, John!
Be sure to help Barry Roper and his committee to find new of-
ficers for next year. The election of officers is next month and
we need your help.
Pray for our members who have been sick and need your pray-
ers.
No one has volunteered for our after-meeting socials. We are doing the best we can to make our
Members happy. I will have a social planned by the next meeting.
Our next Board meeting will be October 21, 2021 at 7:00 pm by conference call. Our next General
Membership meeting will be October 8, 2021 at 7:30 pm. We will meet at Grace Lutheran Church,
13028 Harrowgate Road, Chester, VA 23831. Hope to see you there.
Call me, Bubba Carr, 804-356-8731 or email me at [email protected] if you need me or
have any questions or concerns.
We are the greatest Corvette Club in the world. Stay strong and keep looking out for each other. Re-
member our sponsors and support them like they support us.
Be safe and remember to save the wave. Life is a Highway of many roads. It is the road you choose,
and I am looking forward to driving my Corvettes with Donna Faye, and my best friends.
Your CCR President,
Bubba Carr

NCM News
After almost eight months with former NCM board of directors member and past board president Jack Matukas at the helm as interim President and CEO, the nationwide search for a permanent chief exec-utive to lead the National Corvette Museum has hit pay dirt. The Search Committee Chair Kai Spande, who is also the Corvette Plant Director, spoke highly of the committee's first choice of many candidates who had extensive experience with not-for-profit organizations. Kai stated, "Sharon Brawner was the clear choice. Not only does Sharon have extensive experience leading one of the most successful museums in the world, but she's also a true car buff who was born and raised in Kentucky. We're looking forward to a bright future with Sharon in the driver's seat." In-cidentally, this very capable lady is the first woman selected as the NCM's CEO.
So who is Sharon Brawner and what's she gonna do with our Museum? Well, her quotes give us some clues. "As a Kentucky native and a true car enthusiast, I have long been a fan of the Corvette. I'm thrilled to be able to bring my experience in tourism, museum, and non-profit leadership to the National Corvette Museum. I'm beyond honored to ac-cept the position of President and CEO, and I know that, together with the NCM team, we can create incredible new opportunities to continue the growth and success of this world class museum."
Page 6 NCM News
Brawner spent just shy of two decades at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum supporting its mission of preserving and interpreting the history of country music. She initially joined that organization's staff in 2001 as director of new business develop-ment. During her tenure, she made a significant impact on many fronts. Under Brawn-er's direction and since the museum's 2014 expansion, earned revenues grew over 42% through 2019. The gross revenues exceeded $42.1 million, having grown from $29.6 million in 2014. In her most recent role as senior vice president of sales, mar-keting, and IT, Brawner had day-to-day oversight of the museum's traditional revenue producing areas including admission ticket, special event, restaurant, and catering sales, as well as product licensing, corporate sponsorships, and retail store sales. Addi-tionally, she led the Museum's traditional advertising, promotions, and other mar-keting communications including the website, social media outreach, and publicity.
Prior to joining the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum staff, Brawner was vice president of sales, marketing, and communications for the Nashville Sounds AAA base-ball team and, before that, served as the vice president of administration for the Nash-ville Kats Arena Football team. Earlier in her career, she spent ten years in the hotel and hospitality fields with the Opryland Hotel, Loews Anatole Hotel, Galt House Hotel, and others.
Brawner is a graduate of the 2019 class of Leadership Nashville and currently serves on the board of Feed America First. For eleven years, she served as a board member of the Tennessee Tourism Committee and was a board member for the TransPerfect Mu-sic City Bowl. Brawner also served as an adjunct professor at Belmont University, teaching a Masters-level class on sports marketing with an emphasis on corporate sponsorships. She is a native of Hodgenville, KY, and attended Western Kentucky Uni-versity.
President and CEO Brawner assumed her full duties at the NCM on September 1st, 2021. So, Hail to the Chief and let us wish her well as she is entrusted with our NCM. Good Luck Sharon, we can't wait to meet you during our next Bowling Green excursion.
Welcome new Members !!!

Becoming a Member of the CCR In 1960, a small group of Corvette enthusiasts began to gather on a regular basis for fun and fellowship. The first official meeting took place in July 1961. CCR is the oldest Corvette club in Virginia with a membership approaching 400. To be eligible for regular membership, you must be a person of good character and own a Corvette. You must attend at least one meeting or event. If you don’t own a Corvette, an “associate membership” is available. Associates can participate in all events and functions but have no voting rights. You’ll make good friends, have fun and learn more about Corvettes. Club meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on the second Friday of each month. After the meetings, there is a social where you can enjoy socializing with other club members. Annual dues are $25 for pilots or $35 for both the pilot and co-pilot (includes spouse or significant other). A membership applica-tion can be found on the CCR website: www.corvetteclubofrichmond.com.

CCR 60 + 1 Celebration September 25
After a year long pause the Corvette Club of Richmond was able to come together to celebrate the
60th + 1 anniversary of the of the Best Corvette Club in the World. September 25th nearly 100 CCR
members joined the party at the American Legion Post 354 on the James River.
There was lots of good food, numerous door prizes and games, music, and fellowship and of course
Corvette of every generation (minus a C3—not sure how that happened).

CCR 60 + 1 Celebration It was a great day , a great event but remember that this would not have happened if not for the 60 +1
organizing committees and many other that pitched in to help. Next time you see one of these folks let
them know how much their efforts are appreciated. After all that is what makes us the
THE BEST CORVETTE CLUB IN THE WORLD
and were still going strong !!!

Tavern on the James
280 Valley Street, Scottsville, VA
ODs: Jeff Kleb & Noël Woodward
** This is the same route traveled and place we dined in October 2019 and November 2020. **
After stocking up on Corvette merchandise at the Zip Products Customer
Appreciation Day and feeling the joy of being part of the CCR communi-
ty after the 60 + 1 Anniversary Picnic, you are going to want to jump in-
to your ride for a late lunch/early dinner at Tavern on the James. The
menu is available on their web page (https://www.facebook.com/
TavernOnTheJames/), and they can accommodate 15 to 50 people with
no trouble.
Tavern on the James is located at the junction of VA Route 6 and VA
Route 20, just north of the James River. The drive is a scenic one
(maybe with some colorful fall leaves) along River Road (Route 6 --
through Goochland, Fork Union, etc.) Folks can order off the menu at
regular prices and will be responsible for their own tabs.
Details: CCR members and friends should meet between 2:00 and 2:30
pm, Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the parking lot of the Food Lion
(11272 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA) and McDonald's (11280 Patter-
son Avenue, Richmond, VA), just west of Lauderdale Drive. We will take
roll, sell some 50/50 tickets (bring $$), have a brief drivers’ meeting,
and depart at 2:30 pm. The drive to Scottsville will take about 1½ hours
along via River Road (Route 6), and we will arrive between 3:30 and 4:00
pm. There is ample parking in the rear of the building by the pavilion
that is used for their farmer's market.
This is a “rain or shine” event. If the weather is bad or you have more
guests than seats in your car, then feel free to drive your OTCs (Other
Than Corvettes).
Please register early because we have to provide an approximate head
count on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
We hope you will join us!

Glen Allen Day Parade October 9, 2021 OD -Lori Dolan
Last month we told you we were doing the little Glen Allen Day Parade again this year. If you’re available October 9th, join us and make sure CCR looks better than the Mustang Club!
I recommend decorating our Vettes in patriotic red, white and blue. If you don’t want to go all out with decorations, grab a flag or two. Check out Party City for flags, garland tinsel, balloons and other patriotic decorations that suit your fancy. Masking tape or blue painters tape can be used safely to attach deco-rations with no damage to your Vette. You can bor-row our tape if you don’t have any.
Meet at our house at 8 am (4148 Old Springfield Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060 – 804-640-9338). Grab some coffee and a quick bathroom break. At 8:30 we'll drive a mile down the road to our staging area where we'll decorate our cars. We'll have to work fast, step-off is at 9:30. The parade route is short -- we drive down Mountain Road and turn into Crump Park where we'll park to undecorate. You can stay and enjoy the day's festivities or you can follow Dave to JJs Grille in the Cross-ridge Shopping Center at 10298 Staples Mill Road. Should be fun!

CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: Another Win for No. 4 C8.R
SEP 26 2021RANDALL SHINN2021, LONG BEACH, NEWS COMMENTS OFF ON CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: ANOTHER WIN FOR NO. 4 C8.R
CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: Another Win for No. 4 C8.R Milner/Tandy pairing comes out on top against Taylor/Garcia in Corvette street fight
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2021) – Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner and Nick Tandy won their second straight race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champi-onship on Saturday – a GT Le Mans (GTLM) victory in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach with the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.
Milner passed No. 3 Corvette Racing teammate Jordan Taylor near the 50-minute mark, and Tandy drove a traffic-filled final stint as the Corvette Racing program won for the eighth time at the southern California street event. It’s the second street cir-cuit win of the year for the Milner/Tandy duo, which also won a non-points race in June at Detroit’s Belle Isle circuit.
Milner won for the fourth time his career at Long Beach while Tandy took his second victory there.
Tandy took a 0.75-second victory over Antonio Garcia, Taylor’s teammate in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette C8.R. The runner-up result did move Garcia and Taylor closer to their second straight GTLM Drivers Championship and a repeat Manufac-turers crowd for Chevrolet.
As is typically the case at Long Beach, traffic played a huge role throughout the 100-minute sprint. Taylor began on pole position with Milner never more than two se-conds behind. The ebb and flow of being passed by faster prototypes but passing slower GT Daytona (GTD) cars caused the gap between the two C8.Rs to fluctuate throughout.
The winning move came at the race’s halfway point as Taylor was balked by a GTD car, which allowed Milner to find some extra momentum and get alongside his team-mate just before the short backstretch. The two Corvettes ran in that order before Taylor made the No. 3 Corvette’s only stop of the race with 41 minutes to go. Milner came in a lap later for the switch-over to Tandy, who rejoined the race in the lead and clear of Garcia by about two seconds.
As was the case in the first part of the race, traffic made Tandy’s lead grow and shrink over the course of a lap. But neither Corvette driver put a foot wrong for the final stint.
Corvette Racing’s next event is the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway on Oct. 8-9
