In taking on humanity, Jesus became like
us in all ways but sin. He experienced
heartache and sorrow, joy and affirmation,
challenge and rejection. He suffered many
things, but His message never wavered. He
came as a servant in our midst, willing to
accept His human lot, to transform all
things with His submission to the will of the
Father. His message to His disciples is
clear: If you want to follow Me, you must be
a servant to all.
"For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45
First Reading: Isaiah 53:10-11 The suffering servant will find light in the fullness of
days
Second Reading: Hebrews 4:14-16 Jesus shared in the challenge of humanity
Gospel: Mark 10:35-45 Power is found in serving the needs of others
October 21, 2018 29th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
How far can $5.00 take us? Sure we can buy a cup of coffee, maybe a burger. However, all costs are going up and $5 per week seems to be not enough.
Your donation is used to pay utilities, hosts & wine for the Masses, 3 full time employees, 2 part-timers & 2 visiting priests. All collections for other charities do not remain in the parish. We need more funds to make up our half to build the hall. We are thankful for all those who come religiously and give donations to the church.
We knock on your hearts to give a bit more.
If you haven’t registered yet, please drop by the office and
pick-up donation envelope to support your new parish.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is collecting clothing; all seasons (men, women, and children) to be given to those in need or to be sold to help support their Special works in the community. Please bring your donation to the St. Vincent de Paul truck on the weekend of Oct. 27-28, 2018 The truck will be open at the back of the parking lot before the 5pm Mass (Saturday) until 2:30pm Sunday. Don’t leave anything once the truck is gone. They DO NOT accept appliances, baby furnitures, books, construction materials, dishes, mattresses, video & audio cassettes. Please don’t bring your donations before Oct. 27 & after Oct. 28 since we don’t have the space to store them. Tie your donation bags for easier handling and prevent spoilage.
