How your team can participate in October Build 2011 When is October Build 2011? The first 2 weekends of October: Friday, September 30 - Saturday, October 1; Friday, October 7- Saturday, October 8. Teams are asked to work at least 2 of the 4 project days if possible. Workdays are from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Who does October Build help? RTNO assists low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled, single heads of household with minor children, and first responders. We focus on 8 neighborhoods throughout New Orleans including Broadmoor, Esplanade Ridge/Tremé, Faubourg St. Roch, Gentilly, Hollygrove, the Lower Ninth Ward, McClendonville, and Mid-City. Who participates? Volunteer teams from local businesses and organizations. How many volunteers do we need? Teams must include at least 10 volunteers. Each volunteer site can accommodate up to 20 volunteers per day. If you have more than 20 team members, let us know and we will make special arrangements for your group. What does a House Captain do? The House Captain is the point person from your business or organization. House Captains are responsible for organizing a volunteer team and overseeing the workdays on their site. RTNO will host a training session for House Captains on Wednesday, September 7. What does RTNO provide? RTNO will provide site selection, staff support, on-site port-o-lets, water and water bottles, and any supplies and tools necessary, plus training for House Captains. RTNO will also sell commemorative October Build 2011 tee-shirts. What do teams need to provide? Volunteer teams must designate a House Captain and are responsible for arranging their own transportation to site and bringing lunch and snacks. Can our team be a sponsor? Many of our teams choose to sponsor their project. Their contributions fund our October Build projects and operating expenses.
