MINUTES OF THE GUILD MEETING

CENTRAL KENTUCKY HOMEMAKERS QUILT GUILD MEETING

September 24, 2019

Dodi Fouts brought the meeting to order. This evening was very busy with the swearing in of officers for the year 2019-2020. Mary Ann Burch, President, Debbie Brown, Vice President, Judy Kikendall, Secretary, and Debra Miller, Treasurer.

The Fall Retreat at Peaceful Haven is October 8-12, Mary Ann and Debra took reservations of $40.00 for those attending this event.

Charity blocks were turned in and we have 46 blocks to turn into Quilts for the kids. We were divided into several groups and each group was given four blocks with the same theme. Now comes the challenge to create a cute quilt for a child.

The program for the evening was our Birthday celebration. Food and drinks were provided.

The regular Guild meeting will be October 22, and will be in the room down at the end of the hallway. The programs for the evening will be showing KHQS quilts. We will also have the judging of the Christmas stockings this evening.

If you haven’t already heard, the Quilt Box in Dry Ridge is closing. All fabric is on sale 30% off. They will not be going any lower. They just announced the closing last Tuesday and when I was there yesterday the store was about one third empty. There are still a lot of nice fabrics. Their target closing date is December 21st, but I think they will sell out before that.

I saw this article in the September issue of American Quilter. These are new products which have recently come on the market. They look interesting, but I haven’t had a chance to try them. If anyone does try any of them let me know how they work and I will put a review in the newsletter.
