CAPE SCOTT PROVINCIAL PARK The Siksika (Blackfoot) First Nations have opened a superb historical center on their reservation. There’s a museum, plus guided tours and trails through quintessential prairie landscapes. BLACKFOOT CROSSING HISTORICAL PARK A small prairie village and national historic site cataloging the history and culture of the Doukhobors, a religious sect (championed by Leo Tolstoy) who settled here after their exile from Russia in 1897. VEREGIN Nunavut's frontier on the frontier, this remote national park juxtaposes bleak tundra landscapes with an abundance of unusual wildlife spearheaded by polar bears.
