COMPOSER'S NOTE

I wrote this fugue while a member of the Singing Sergeants of the USAF Band in Washington, D.C. in l972, for a quartet of my colleagues to sing at the retirement party for our crusty but beloved NCOIC, SMSgt. "Red" Brower, who passed away in 2012. It is now dedicated to his memory. The fugue is intended for a full men's glee club sound, but can also be sung one on a part. The divisi at the end are optional—but worth it if the low basses can provide the bottom notes. (NB: This fugue is not endorsed by the US Air Force or the USAF Band, and is intended only as a "college" parody of the famous, rousing “Army Air Corps" song which was the climax of the Singing Sergeants’ Armed Forces Medley encore/finale. It embodies the hope that we will always make music, but one day will stop making war forever.)
