OH-MI GIS User Group

At the 2012 Ohio GIS Conference

Started in 2002 by former Fulton County GIS Supervisor, Roger Freytag.

Met 1 - 2 times a year in the beginning and now we try to meet quarterly.

Main purpose is to give local GIS users a chance to meet, share information, and ask questions in an informal, supportive atmosphere.

Our meetings also support users by providing opportunities to give presentations, co-host, and present map displays which can be used to meet some of the GISP criteria.

We currently operate only through email notifications.

There are 119 people on the email list. Average attendance is around 10 – 20. We have a mix of members from

educational, public and private organizations. We are always open to new ideas and

interests and encourage our members to get involved with planning and facilitating meetings.

OH-MI GIS User Group would LOVE to create a web site to promote ourselves and offer support to more GIS users, but volunteers are definitely needed before this can happen.

We have plans to add many new Utility GIS Users to our email list and support them with 1 – 2 annual meetings focused on both Utilities and beginning users.

Continue on with local, quarterly meetings and presentations.
