In 1670 Rene-Robert Sieur De Salle was probably the first white man to reach the Ohio Region
In 1763 France surrendered their claim of the Ohio Region to Great Britain
Then in 1788 in Marietta the first white settlement was established
In 1795 Indian wars in the Ohio Region ended with a treaty against Greenville
Finally in 1803 Ohio became the 17th state on March 1st
Geography
Ohio is in the eastern part of the midwest region
In size ranked 35th Area: 41,330 square miles It borders Michigan on the north,
Pennsylvania and West Virginia on the east, West Virginia and Kentucky on the south and Indiana on the west
