The tranquil garden is a whimsical “island” designed to both calm and

delight the senses amid a busy downtown setting.

Bridgestone America’s Akron Technical Center • AkronEnvironmental Design Group | Akron www.envdesigngroup.comEnvironmental Design Group succeeded in creating an innovative campus designed to embrace Bridgestone’s “One Team, One Planet” philosophy of sustainability, as well as being respectful to the company’s history and foundations. A series of Japanese gardens were

incorporated into the design to honor Bridgestone’s founder Shojiro Ishibashi and his heritage.

Washington Park Redevelopment • CincinnatiHuman Nature, Inc. | Cincinnatiwww.humannature.ccThe Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation partnered with the Cincinnati Park Board and Human Nature, Inc. to expand and transform Washington Park, a previously dangerous and run-down area, into a civic gathering space. Downtown Cincinnati’s first urban dry wells, five intensive green roofs, a two-

acre green roof above the garage and an expanded urban forest all are sustainable design strategies.
