Life in Portland

Although it’s the 23rd largest metropolitan area in the country, the City of Roses is known for its friendly people, scenic beauty and access to nature. It appears regularly on “best of” lists, including Bicycling Magazine’s top bike-friendly cities, CNN Money’s best cities to live and work and U.S. News & World Report’s best cities for public transportation.

Portland is a pretty place with plenty to do. In minutes you can run, ride or row along the Willamette River. In an hour or less, hike in the woods, taste wine at a local vineyard or pick berries on a family farm. And in just 90 minutes, ski Mt. Hood, surf the Pacific or windsurf in the Columbia River Gorge.

From its perch atop Marquam Hill, OHSU offers a birds-eye view of the city and easy access to Portland’s best destinations. Ride the aerial tram down to the riverfront and head out to explore all the city has to offer. Wander through the stacks at Powell’s City of Books. Grab a bite at a food cart. Meet friends for the jazz festival. And enjoy free concerts and cultural events. Before you know it, Portland will feel like home.
