CAPTAIN MIKE SHELLENwww.OkeechobeeBassFishing.com

863-357-0892

— Cpt. Mike Shellen

Great fishing is going on as we move toward fall and cooler weather. Shiner fishing is providing most of the larger bass but anglers are catching good numbers of bass with artificial baits also. Worms and senkos are working for plastics and top water baits and lipless crankbaits are working for hard baits. From Har-ney Pond all the way East to Tin House cover anglers are finding bass both on the outside edges and also back in the marsh. The water levels are dropping and as the water gets lower more and more of the bass will appear toward the outside edges. Anglers using a flipping or pitching presentation are taking bass to 8 plus pounds using creatures style baits.

Blue gill are still being caught in and around the patches of hydrilla, anglers using a popping bug are still able to catch both small bass and some good sized blue gill. Specks are being caught in limited numbers in the river around the weir. As the water con-tinues to cool the speck bite will take off for those anglers fishing the river during the dark hours.
