“Knitted with love ...”By now you should have seen the Clock Tower Poppies at the roundabout in the heart of town. It is all the inspiration of Tony and Jenny Evans. With help from Nailsworth Knitters and countless dozens of others from home and further afi eld (Fife, Northampton and elsewhere) 7,000 woollen poppies were created over 27 metres of cloth. Guides, Rainbows and

the Senior Section all volunteered their support and soon there were knitting circles throughout Gloucestershire as FB did its job and news of the venture went viral! The knitting and its result is quite an achievement! Look out for some blue poppies too, as members from Leves will be over for the annual Remembrance Service at St. George’s.

They stand shoulder to shoulder - heads bowed in silent memory of comrades lost in battle. Red poppies on a dark green background lie in a circular wreath, a symbol of birth, life, death.

Some weep, others lean towards each other in silent comfort, some watch with wide eyed wonder not yet sure what it all means.

Across the nation the clocks ring out

eleven times.Traffi c stops. Silence falls. Two minutes to remember.A bugle sounds the last post. Flags

dipped in remembrance are raised heralding a new today. Voices are raised in songs of praise. Reading of faith and belief bring meaning for many who stand there. SKM

A word from the MayorBudgeting We are working through our budget so that we can set the Precept for next year. If you are interested in the process and the outcome, keep an eye out on the agendas of forthcoming meetings (on our website 5 days before the meetings) and come along!

Questions for Councillors?

On Saturday 18th November at 10:00-12:00 in The Mortimer Room (next to the Library) the Town Council is holding a surgery. I will be available along with Cllr. Anne Elliott and representatives from District (Norman Kay) and County (Steve Robinson).

Electronic BankingAt the last council meeting we agreed to change to Internet banking. Monthly payments can then be made electronically and more effi ciently. With fewer cheques written these days, many people will already be familiar with Internet banking.

Town Awards

Each year the Mayor awards individuals or groups that have made a difference to the town. The awards are for Youth, Sport, The Arts and Outstanding Contribution to the Town. To suggest someone worthy of an award, please email me with their name and a few words as to why you think they

are worthy of consideration. You can also call me, or leave a message at the Town Hall on 833592.

Parliamentary Constituency ChangesThis time last year I asked for your views on the proposal to change our constituency to The Cotswolds. I am pleased to say that after consultation, new plans have been published and it is now proposed that Nailsworth stays in Stroud constituency.jonathan.duckworth@nailsworthtowncouncil.gov.uk07813 641732

Aden Remembered - 50 Years onIt is the 50th Anniversary of the withdrawal of British Troops from Aden. A ceremony is being held in Gloucester Cathedral on Sunday the 26th November, attended by the Lord Lt. Dame Janet Trotter, accompanied by other Senior Officers and Members of Parliament.

The war in Aden affected our small market town and surrounding valleys. The generation born in the 1930’s and in particular the1940’s were too young for conscription to National Service. These young men, with a sense of adventure, formed the backbone of the new regular armed forces in all three services, many serving in Aden. A dozen or more lads joined up from Nailsworth in the 1950’s,

four from Park Road. They grew up within a few hundred yards of each other: David Gardiner, 3rd Carabineers (Tanks); Ken Jones, RAF Flight Engineer; Denis Sparrow, Royal Marines Commando and Eric Slaughter, Royal Engineers. The remaining names, Flight, Bathe, Brown Philps, Blick, Furley, Dangerfield and Watson, came from all over our valleys.

During those final years in Aden, they served up in the Radfan Mountains, along the Border with Yemen, often fighting an unseen enemy and driving along rough dirt tracks, their vehicles often being blown up. As the rebel tribesmen were slowly beaten, they came

out of their mountain fortresses and moved down into the streets of Aden to wage a terrorist battle lasting four years. British men, women and children were injured or murdered on a daily basis and thousands of Aden nationals were killed. Aden the Forgotten WarDennis Sparrow has written four books covering all of those years, with factual accounts by Nailsworth personnel who were there. A team from Price’s Mill Surgery is setting off on a 500km cycle through Vietnam and Cambodia next month, hoping to raise £35,000 for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, a charity that funds research into treatments that have the potential to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s Disease. This time last year none of the team were cyclists, but now they regularly cover distances of 50 miles and more in training. In addition the team has also been training at the gym, spinning, running, boxing, walking and swimming - all to get fit.

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive,

degenerative, neurological condition for which there is currently no cure. It affects 130,000 people in the UK, with 5% being under the age of 50. Its symptoms vary, but it most commonly affects balance, movement, mood, sleep, speech, memory and concentration. It also causes tremors, pain and stiffness and symptoms progress over time. To find out more about the challenge, please visit: www.facebook.com/cureparkinsonsdisease

To donate, please visit: www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/cyclopaths15 . Donations are also

welcome at the surgery. To find out more about The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, please visit: www.cureparkinsons.org.uk

The Nortonwood Community Orchard has produced its biggest crop of fruit this year. First planted in 2010, the trees have taken some years to come into fruit, and 2017 saw several of the traditional Gloucestershire apple trees show fruit for the fi rst time. Apples grown are; Northlands Leech, Ampney Red and Rheads Renette.

One of the very old trees from the original garden has sadly blown down in the recent high winds, but the 15 trees that were planted six and seven years ago are fl ourishing. Help is always needed to keep the weeds down around the base of the trees, coppicing hazel, pruning the fruit trees and more. The British Waterfowl Association is holding an exhibition of the UK’s fi nest domestic waterfowl on Saturday 5th November at from 10am until 3pm at Stratford Park Leisure Centre, Stroud. On display at this year’s National Waterfowl Exhibition will be 600 ducks and geese, a wide variety of different breeds, information

on keeping waterfowl and expert advice from top exhibitors. You can also fi nd information on Indian Runners and other unusual breeds! Entrance £2.50 / £1.50 and children (U.12) free with an adult.

In our October issue we included an article about Wilfred Powell’s 90th Birthday, his memories of the War and working on the Nailsworth buses. His daughter has written to us as follows:-

“Thank you very much for the lovely

article and photograph of my father. In the article it said that he had a second Brother, who survived smallpox and malaria, but was lost during the war in Borneo. He did, however in fact survive the war, to return home from Borneo.

Although he suffered for many years as a result of Malaria and small pox, I never heard him once complain and he was a wonderful uncle to us all. As a family we have always been so grateful to those who gave so much for us”

Several members from the locality enjoyed a CNFC excursion to the Channel Islands, where they took part in various tours of Guernsey as part of the annual

commemorations to honour the memory of Royal Naval personnel who died in a tragic WWII incident. Closer to home, Mike Hemming, a local historian, will

talk about how to ‘read’ houses from the 1830’s onwards at the Club’s next meeting at 2.30pm on Tuesday 21st November at The Hub, Minchinhampton. Visitors welcome.

Nailsworth Climate Action Town group has invited David Drew MP to discuss how we can break down the barriers preventing action in areas such as domestic emissions reduction schemes

and community energy projects. We will ask how far off are we from getting a political consensus on national and local action, in the light of the Government’s Clean Growth Strategy just published.

Nailsworth’s carbon footprint - how well are we doing? Please come along with your own questions and ideas - everyone welcome. For more information contact: Richard Erskine NCAT secretary, 0779 9343824

Noel Noel

Remembering Loved OnesSunday 5th November at 3.00 pm Messy Church

“Remember, remember – it’s the Nailsworth Noel on 24th November and we can’t wait!” We had so much fun last year helping everyone dress up and ‘Get in the Picture’ that we’re delighted to be able to do it again. This fabulous evening really kick-starts the Christmas celebrations, although Advent itself doesn’t begin for a few more days.

Of course, you might ask why we are there. It’s about shopping, the fun fair, the free music, the mulled wine and mince pies and surely not churchy stuff! Well, yes, but there is a reason that all that happens and it’s not just about supporting our town. Christmas is about, well, the clue is in the name! It’s about the birth of Christ and events

like the Nailsworth Noel help us to get ready for that. There will even be some carols. We are there to join in the fun and the preparation for Christmas. There’s nothing we like better than a bit of fun, so come and join us.

We will be in the Mortimer Rooms with our costumes and scenery. You just need a camera and either your family or friends, or both! Come and create a personal Christmas scene from the greatest story ever told. Which will you choose? The angels visiting the shepherds, or the wise men travelling, or perhaps the full Nativity scene complete with baby Jesus? We’ll take your photo with your camera and then give you a goody bag to take away with a blank

card on which to stick a print of your picture, or you could get clever and print directly onto your card! Or try one of the online retailers that let you upload a picture to make your personalised Christmas cards. Because this is the ultimate Christmas card, you’re right in the middle of the real Christmas story, exactly where we all belong. Whichever picture you choose to take, enjoy the evening and say a thank you to the baby that made it all possible, Jesus. See you on the 24th!

On Sunday 5th November at 3.00 pm in St. George’s there is a special service for those who have lost loved ones, to listen to poetry and Bible readings, sing hymns and light a candle in memory of someone loved and lost. This is open to anyone who would like to make a memory on that day. There

will also be the opportunity to add a name to be read out during the service. There will be tea and cake after the service.

Christ Church, 10.30am Sundays, or call Helene on 07956 657759

St George’s, 11am Sundays, or call Mike 01453 836536

... And don’t forget Messy Church on 12th November at 3.30pm on the theme of ‘Remembering’. Food, and games galore as always!

‘Allo, Allo’ “A blooming good year had by all!”

The Nailsworth Dramatic Society is delighted to present the 1980’s BBC wartime sitcom ‘Allo Allo’ with its dubious foreign accents and sledgehammer double entendre. Fans of the TV series will see their favourite characters including Rene Artois, the cowardly cafe-owner with an eye for the

ladies who became caught up in the madcap escapades of the French Resistance; Rene’s tone-deaf wife, Edith; Major-General von Klinkerhoffen and the Gestapo officer, Herr Flick. The script is a 1992 stage play by the original writers David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd, which ran at the London Palladium.

Director Jenny Smith said, “ ‘Allo Allo’ works really well as a stage play and we are having a lot of fun rehearsing

it. The audience is going to be laughing all evening. What a great tonic for the cold dark November nights!”

Performances: Wednesday 22 November - Saturday 25 November 2017 at 7.30pm nightly. Tickets are on sale online at www.ticketsource.co.uk or via Nailsworth Computer Shop.

The Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society has been as busy as ever this year with area and national demonstrators giving talks and exhibitions. Money has been raised for the British Heart Foundation and there have been outings to wonderful gardens. Perhaps the highlight was when the Society won the Nailsworth Art Festival award in recognition of its services locally. The Christmas Open Evening will be held at Wycliffe College on Wednesday 13 December with a glass of wine and mince pies. Tickets £10.00 from Claire Frances Hair Design (Cossack Sq.) / 01453 758496 / 01453 835752.

New members are also very welcome. Please call for information.

Nailsworth Art Festival

Nailsworth Festival 2018 - Tell us what you think!

This event raised a stunning £1,000 for The Door Project and St. George’s. Over 500 visitors came to view art, glass, pinhole photography, sculpture, photographs, embroidery and more. Many exhibits were purchased and BBC Gloucestershire made a broadcast, which encouraged many to visit from far afield. Suman Kaur (BBC Art winner) was a great attraction with her informative talks

and drawing lesson and it all made for a very worthwhile and happy weekend. Many thanks to all who supported with art, the volunteers and catering staff and also to our sponsor restaurant, Amalfi, for the excellent canapés on Preview night! The Art Festival returns in 2019 and will give everyone a chance to produce new art of all kinds for us all to enjoy. Get designing!

The 2018 Nailsworth Festival will run from Saturday 19 May - Sunday 27 May.

The Committee is busy planning the Festival events and would like to hear more from the people of Nailsworth on

what kind of things you would like to see at the Festival. What do you like about the Festival and what could be better? Are there any new activities that we should be considering, and would you

like to organise a new activity? Please share your thoughts at:

Herringbone aloneHerringbone (behind Bruton’s) is under new management, but fear not - all the traditional goods are available still and some new ideas too! Sarah Honeychurch is the new owner, and has travelled far and wide to get here! Born and brought up in the USA, she came to

Nailsworth with her parents in 2004 and after various adventures and businesses around the country, she moved back to bring up her children. “I have always had a love of sewing and making things, and when I saw that Herringbone was available I jumped at the chance to have

my own shop and see what I can offer.” The opportunity appeared suddenly, and Sarah dived straight in to keep Herringbone open and bring lovely fabric to the people of Nailsworth. Dressmaking and quilting fabrics are available as usual and scraps for quilting,

vintage fabrics and organic cottons are all on their way!

Sarah is keen to build links with local embroidery and quilting groups (of which there are many!) and has also started a Sewing Café every Tuesday evening in the shop, from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. It’s a place for people to socialise with tea and cake whilst working on their own projects and a chance to meet with other local makers, chat about sewing and share ideas, and it’s only £5.00 per session. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential! Sarah is also available for alterations and repairs so please ask how she can help.

Open: Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm. 01453 833855 / [email protected] / www.herringbone.co.uk

Upstairs Downstairs

The Upstairs Downstairs Cafe at the top of Fountain Street is now very much up and running. Wendy Halliday and Anne Weaver, both well known in the town, have taken on this popular spot and with years of experience in cooking good, honest, traditional breakfast and brunches, this venture should be a resounding success. Traditional full English, or a vegetarian breakfast, bacon baps and more traditional fare are served

from 8.00am. Choose coffee or tea from the Rijo range and the start of the day is complete! Brunches and lunches consist of all our favourites - sandwiches with a choice of popular fillings, toasties, sausage rolls, pasties, salads, quiches and so much more. The menu boards have it all, just pick and choose! Teas, specialty coffees, soft drinks and locally made cakes are available all day and almost everything on the menu is available to

take-away.Whether upstairs or downstairs, the

place is bright and homely. Upstairs is more bistro and cafe style and downstairs, seating up to 18 people, is ideal for slightly more formal sitting or perfect for meetings both large, small or just for a quiet time with a coffee and your laptop!

Wild Garlic celebrates its 10th Birthday this November and Wilder is about to turn one!

10 years ago Matthew and Hannah Beardshall opened Wild Garlic in Cossack Square. “It has been a whirlwind time with a new business, ever enlarging family, changes to menus, changes to decor, opening ‘Wilder’ last year in Market Street and also enlarging the number of letting rooms available. Our highlight was probably having the celebrated Jay Rayner visit us ‘ad hoc’ and the review he wrote later, “A good restaurant that not only serves good food, it makes the world a better place”. There have been many awards in the last 10 years, and with the support of Nailsworth and folk further afi eld, Wild Garlic and Wilder hope to keep more people fi lled and happy!

Beaudesert Park School

S C H O O L S

October was especially busy at Beaudesert. In addition to the many lessons, trips and performances on the school calendar, the Autumn Fair attracted visitors from afar. Proceeds divided between The Nelson Trust and Allsorts - both Stroud-based and doing excellent work with local children. The school also hosted a group of 14 boys from Mumbai, India

as part of a two week sport, education and culture tour. From one of the most underprivileged areas in Mumbai, the boys are part of the OSCAR Foundation, which engages the children in sport, with a particular focus on football. One of their patrons, Lucinda Sowerbutts, conceived and organised the tour from her Gloucestershire home, having met the charity’s founder in 2015. Beaudesert

became one of five UK schools which fundraised for 18 months to raise money to provide this life-changing experience for their Under 14 counterparts. One of the tour highlights was the OSCAR v Beaudesert football match. Pupils, parents, press and school staff all cheered the boys on, the OSCAR team continuing their unbeaten run to win 2:1.

Horsley Primary School

October means harvest time and to celebrate, all our children participated in a Thanksgiving Assembly. Songs, poems and dance were performed confidently by all the children, especially our new crop of reception children in Foxes class. Rev. Mike Smith set a challenge for the children: next time they find themselves in the supermarket doing the weekly grocery shop with their parents, try and be grateful and thankful instead of grumpy! The wonderful produce that was kindly donated for our harvest display has now been packaged up and

delivered by small groups of children from Otters Class (years 3 & 4) to the older residents in the village. Foxes class have enjoyed learning sessions, walking in the local woods, building dens, exploring and discovering wildlife while noticing features and patterns of change. Four of our budding mathematicians represented Horsley in a Maths Challenge held at Dean Close School. Our talented year 6 pupils Felix, Maddie, Pearl and Lailya worked in pairs over a two hour period to solve a series of mathematical problems. Out of the 21

schools taking part, Horsley achieved a very respectable fourth place.

Just to remind you, we will be holding our annual Open Morning on Thursday 16th November between 9.30 and 11.30am. If you would like to come and look around our lovely school, we would be very happy to see you and your children.

The children are continuing with the ‘Up, Up and Away’ theme, with a visit to Nympsfi eld Glider Club, kindly arranged by one of our parents. This was a great opportunity for the children to learn about aeronautics, and to sit in a glider and an old American crop duster plane.

We recently celebrated Harvest Festival with a school and parish Mass: a wonderful occasion with harvest donations given in aid of Stroud Food Bank. The congregation enjoyed tea,

coffee and cake kindly organised by our PTA, with monetary donations of £109.07 going to Macmillan Nurses. Our new PTA committee has brought many wonderful ideas to the table and revitalised the 100 Club. We have a couple of numbers still available if you are interested!

Do you have a child who will be starting primary school in September 2018? We are a small school in beautiful surroundings, offering a well-rounded curriculum and many extra-curricular activities. We

Nailsworth’s Class of 2017 – Inspired by the challenge!Nailsworth Primary School is celebrating outstanding end of primary school results! 87% of last year’s Year 6 class achieved or surpassed the expected standard in Writing, Reading and Maths compared to the national average of 61%. This puts Nailsworth in the top 5% in the country for these subjects. A full standards and progress report can be found on the school website at:

www.nailsworthschool.org.uk/index.php/ about-us/schoolperformance/

Commenting on the results, Vince Southcott said, “We are thrilled with how brilliantly our year six pupils performed. Huge thanks to my staff, for being really focused on creating interventions to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. We have worked hard on identifying any gaps in their learning,

with lots of practice at core skills of writing and maths to create confident learners, ready for secondary school. Our students are resilient learners who enjoy taking on a challenge and we offer them an exciting curriculum that inspires them to be the best they can be.”

There is an Open Morning on Tuesday 7th November from 9am -12noon. There is no need to book, just pop along!

Eclipse – USA Style18 years ago, I was caught up in the excitement about a total eclipse that was visible from the UK. I took my son camping in Devon and we had a great time, apart from the disappointment of the eclipse. All we saw was the clouds going dark, then light again.

Well, we had another opportunity, as we were planning a holiday of a lifetime to see my business partner in Toronto and there was an eclipse due this year. I hatched a plan to get to the area likely to be the quietest and least likely to have cloud cover, an area west of Idaho Falls looked the best. We stayed with friends in Salt Lake City and then drove north

for nearly 6 hours, to find my chosen patch of wasteland that put us in the centre of totality.

I think arriving at 3:30AM, having met none of the predicted traffic, was a bit early for the family, so we tried to sleep in the car. As dawn broke we could see how isolated we were, and we set up. More people arrived, and the event began, the eclipse progressed slowly, with more of the sun’s disk being obscured, it became cooler and darker. However, nothing prepared us for the sudden darkness of totality and the amazing deep blue colours across the sky. All round us there was what looked

like a 360 degree sunrise, an orange band right around the horizon.

We stayed to the end, it seemed rude to pack up and go so soon after totality, but that’s what many did. So we missed the traffic and relaxed after a mind-blowing experience. Jonathan Duckworth

Permission has been granted for improvements to planning considerations for fl ats at Tanner’s Piece. There is also renewed discussion about parking charges to help control parking in the town, raising revenue lost to central

government, and preventing cuts to services and voluntary groups. Financial rate relief for small businesses in the area has been agreed and there is discussion as to how town centres can be supported in the face of increasing online

shopping and the loss of banks etc. from local towns. Priority sheltered housing is also being covered in committees. For more information contact Stroud District Council: 01453 766321 / Steve Robinson 07437 466622.

A few months ago a lending library was set up in the phone box on Shortwood Green. Local residents contributed books and DVDs available for loan, as clearly stated on the signs. Initially there were over 100 DVDS and 50 books. The phone box has now been completely

stripped of all DVDs, clearly an abuse of a community resource and its generosity. It’s possible they have been removed and sold on for personal profi t. It’s sad when something relying on community spirit is spoilt by loss of trust and dishonesty.(Name supplied)

The Nailsworth Subscription Rooms has its Annual General Meeting on 29th November at 7.30pm, at the Subscription Rooms and everyone is welcome to attend.

SDC is coming to town to hear your views on the District’s Local Plan in the Mortimer Room on Wednesday 8th November 3-6pm. The Local Plan helps

SDC to decide on future developments in our area. The public consultation runs until 5 December and the full document can be viewed and downloaded at

www.stroud.gov.uk/localplanreview . A paper copy can be viewed at the Town Council offi ce.

Shortwood UnitedWhat a difference a month makes! Since the thrashing by Salisbury there’s been little turning back. Suddenly the team has found form and results are starting to show. It’s down to the team commitment of management, coaching and players and the smiles on their faces speak volumes. This is not the perfect deal as yet, but it’s a start and all great things have to start somewhere! Who knows what the season will bring?

What is certain is that from recent matches the young and new players have shown their worth and when brought into the fi rst team as cover for the more experienced players, they didn’t let the team down.

For example, the recent Cup victory over Didcot and Jack Freeman’s stunning early headed goal was the result of a fi ne, fl oated, far post pass from

Jordan Morris and there could have been more goals! Didcot came back strongly and were physical and powerful. A month ago Shortwood would have

crumbled, but now the resilience was there and the formation worked. Harry Burns ran himself ragged up front; Adam Price was a commanding midfi elder and Harry Pickering in goal continued to be safe and in complete control. Everyone was terrifi c!

What a boost to win that one! Paul Meredith is getting his new charges playing the Shortwood way - fi rm passing in triangles, keeping the ball on the fl oor and attacking sensibly and creatively. It’s quite an easy game really! If you want to watch a quality game of football, there is no better place than at Meadowbank: easy, free parking with no queues, a fi ne and friendly clubhouse and bar and really good hot food for those chilly afternoons!www.pitchero.com/clubs/shortwoodunited

A Great Day Out with FGR - Last month my son and I joined the Supporters coach trip to watch FGR play Notts. County FC., with its ground on the banks of the Trent and opposite the ground of rivals Nottingham Forest and recorded

as the oldest Football League Club in the world. One would have thought Nottingham Forest was playing against the County, rather than a team from Nailsworth, as our contest drew a crowd of 13,500! Notts. County had made the encounter a Community Day out with tickets at £10 or less and many free. The local Army Regiment was on hand with displays. There were bouncy castles, a brass jazz band, stalls, a community choir and meat pies!

The football ground is at the junction of the river and the Nottingham/Beeston canal, where I witnessed a family of local supporters arriving by motor launch. As I helped them through the entrance lock, I wondered whether one day this might be the way to arrive at FGR’s new stadium at Eastington! FGR shared in an exciting game, leading for most of the match, only to be pinned back with a last minute equaliser by the home club. It all provided for a great day out. Myles Robinson

Elsie’s inside view! (FGR Sports Ambassador)In early October, Dad and I went to the Notts. County away game. Notts. County FC is the world’s oldest football league club, formed way back in 1862. They are currently top of the table and we were bottom of League 2, so we decided to checkout the game. We were welcomed at New Lawn by FGR fans waiting for coaches to pick them up. We only filled one coach but made sure our scarves were on show in the windows!

We soon arrived at this historic stadium, on Notts. County’s community day. Free tickets were given to local schools and there were lots of activities outside the ground; stalls, helped and supported by the army and a mini bouncy castle, which I was tempted to go on, but didn’t. Although we were greatly outnumbered by Notts. County fans, which made me feel a little intimidated, anyone we did talk to was very welcoming and kind. The stands in the stadium have been updated, but Notts. County have kept the original turnstiles - a good way of preserving its history. This was my second away FGR game and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them and hope to go to more. New Lawn is like my second home, so it’s good to see other stadia and what the opposition fans call home.

Inside the stadium felt huge! We were

in a top corner of one of the stands and had a great view of the game. Stewards told us about the rivalry between Notts. County and Nottingham Forest, which was clear from inside the stadium. They also explained the different areas of the

ground; the family stand was colour coded underneath, so the kids wouldn’t get lost and knew which section they were in. The game began and although Notts. County stood their ground with a whole stand chanting and clapping, we made our mark and chanted as loud as we could, especially when we took the lead only 26 minutes in, with Omar

Bugiel’s amazing goal. The home fans certainly went quiet after that! During the rest of the match, I felt FGR were incredibly unlucky and didn’t manage a second goal. Notts. County equalised in the 96th minute!

Overall, it was a great day and we all came back feeling very proud of FGR. We nearly beat the team at the top of the table! We came away with a point which pulled us out of the relegation zone and if we keep playing like this, I believe we can get a few more wins under our belt and climb up the League.

Come on you Rovers!!!
