A Message From Our Executive Director

The more information we learn from scientific research and our partners at Masterpiece Living, the more it is confirmed that physical activity is paramount to successful aging. Recently, I personally committed to a 90 day fitness plan of resistance and cardio training. One of the main

reasons is a study published on April 15th, 2013. Researchers and physicians in Finland conducted a study of 210 seniors with Alzheimer disease. The groups that exercised for one hour to four hours weekly showed significant benefits including reduced fall risk and lower overall cost of health care than the control group that did not exercise. So many of you have found the benefits of exercise and are demanding more classes, and we are happy to deliver. Starting in June, Susan Briscoe will start a new class called, “Inspire” (read more details inside this newsletter) and another added Floor Yoga Class with Diane McKinzie. We hope you will try these new classes and continue to age successfully. Remember, it’s never too late to improve your health!

What Are Those Red Bikes Across from Chuys?

B-cycle is a bike-sharing program in Fort Worth. It is a zero-hassle, zero-emissions way to get around town. It’s free and spontaneous, but also practical. Imagine a bike that is always ready to ride, where and when you want to ride

it. The tires are always inflated and the chain is never rusty. A bike with a basket to carry your knapsack. A bike with front and rear lights and a bell that fits people tall and short. A bike that’s there whenever you need it, and gone when you don’t. That’s a B-cycle. And it’s powered by the ultimate alternative fuel: you. The cost to use a B-cycle is divided into two components: a membership fee and a usage fee.

Fort Worth B-Cycle Rates: 24-hour membership: $8 7-day membership: $20 30-day membership: $30 Annual membership: $80. *Students, Seniors and Military receive a $15 discount. For more information, please go to fortworthbikesharing.org
