JUNE 21, 2020 • 12TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Religious Freedom Week 2020: For the Good of All
Beginning June 22nd, in honor of the Feast of Saints Thomas More and John Fisher, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops celebrates Religious Freedom Week. Join us, as we pray, reflect, and take action on religious liberty, both here in this country and abroad.
All people desire to know their Creator. All people have a natural impulse to seek the good and to live in accordance with that good. All people can flourish when they pursue the truth about God and respond to the truth. Religious freedom means that all people have the space to flourish. Religious freedom is both an American value and an important part of Catholic teaching on human dignity. When we promote religious freedom, we promote the common good and thus, strengthen the life of our nation.
Pray for Life, Marriage and Religious Liberty.
FATHERS DAY PRAYER
God Our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.
CONFESSION INFORMATION – We are now back to the regular Confession schedule, however, due to social distancing guidelines the location has changed. Please follow with signs located in the Connector for new Confession locations. Confessions during Mass will conclude at the Our Father to allow both of our priests to distribute the Blessed Sacrament. A priest will return after Mass if there is still a Confession line.
SPAGHETTI DINNER – The Serra club of St. Marys/Sidney Deaneries are hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, June 27, from 5:00 p.m. until gone. The dinner will be located at the St. Remy Hall, Russia and will be available as carry out only. Limited dinners will be served and will contain spaghetti with Father Fox’s famous sauce and a slice of Texas Toast. Contact Heather Borchers for details at (937) 451-8363. All donation proceeds will go toward our archdiocesan seminarians through the Run for the Call fundraiser. Run for the Call helps promote vocation awareness through running, prayer, sacrifice, and raising funds throughout the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The funds raised allow seminarians to go on special retreats for their formation and spiritual growth and also helps with unexpected major expenses that might occur throughout the year.
“When a man walks in integrity and justice, happy are his children after him!” – Proverbs 20:7
HERE I AM, LORDMy name is John Grusenmeyer. My family owns a farm just outside of Tipp City where I grew up and my home parish is Sacred Heart in New Carlisle, Ohio. After graduating from Tecumseh High
School, I majored in Agronomy at The Ohio State University. It was during this time in college while living in a Catholic community called St. Paul’s Outreach that God put it on my heart to look into the priesthood. After visiting the Brotherhood of Hope and the Dominicans, I finally decided to further discern the diocesan priesthood here in my own Archdiocese at Mount St. Mary’s. I just finished my Theology year with 4 years left to ordination. In my spare time I love to backpack, spend time in the woods, garden, travel, and bike. I am glad to be able to spend my summer here at Holy Angels in Sidney.
