Manuals

The following three manuals for OmniLink Merchant Services are provided.

Development Guide

This manual provides necessary information to configure a development environment for developing OmniLinkMerchant Services (cloud-based applications) and migration of developed services to production environments forsystem developers.

Setup Guide

This manual is for an installer who installs TM printers in stores. Provides necessary information for setting up theprinters to use the OmniLink Merchant Services.

Operation Guide (this document)

This document describes printer status monitoring performed daily, error handling procedures, and other aspectsof service operation.

Usage Limitations

Please use our products in environments and systems designed with consideration to safety and disaster recoverysuch as fail-safe configurations and redundant designs, for example, if this product is used in applications in whicha high level of reliability and safety in functionality and precision is required such as in aircraft, trains, ships,automobiles and other transportation-related applications or in crime prevention equipment and safety equipment.

This product is not intended for use in applications that require extremely high levels of reliability and safety suchas in aerospace equipment, trunk-line communications equipment, nuclear power control equipment, and medicalequipment.

Consider your usage environment and requirements carefully before using this product in such applications.

Terms and Symbols Used in the Manuals

Terms

Definitions of the terms used in this document are as follows.

Service provider

A solutions provider who develops a cloud-based service using Epson Omnilink Merchant Service Web API anddelivers it to customers.

Deployment partner

An installer who installs and sets up TM printers in stores, and configures the production environment.

Service

A cloud-based application such as sales analysis, reward point program, etc., that is developed by a Serviceprovider.

Meaning of Symbols

The following symbols are used in this manual. Make sure to understand the meaning of these symbols beforeusing the product.

Describes usage precautions that must be observed. Incorrect handling due to the disregard of thisinformation may result in product failure or incorrect operation.

Receiving Error Notifications

Notifications can be sent via email when a printer experiences network connectivity issues, significant changes inreceipt mapping status occur, etc.

Configuring Notification Email Reception Conditions

The following section describes the procedure to configure the type of notifications to be received and thefrequency of notifications.

A Access the OmniLink Management Console from the following URL, and sign in.

B Click at the upper-right of the screen.

D Click Edit in Notification Subscription.

E Configure the type of notifications to be received and the frequency of notifications can be configured andthen click Save.

Item Description

Connection StatisticsNotifications will be received per the specified Frequency when a network disconnection isdetected.

Receipt Mapping Statistics Notifications will be received per the specified Frequency when the receipt mappingclassification rate changes significantly.

Configuring Receipt Mapping Error Notification Conditions

Administrator can configure receipt mapping error notifications for specific groups.

Item Description

Decline of dataclassification rate (%)

Specifies the rate of decline when comparing the current data classification rate with theaverage data classification rate for the past 7 days. A notification is sent when the dataclassification rate falls below the specified rate.

A notification is sent when the number of prints exceeds the number specified withMinimum print count (sheets/day).

Minimum transaction count(sheets/day)

Specifies the minimum number of prints every 24 hours used as the trigger for notificationsof changes in the data classification rate. A notification is sent when the number of printsexceeds the specified number.

Monitoring Printer Connection Status

The following section describes the procedure to check network connection status for printers. The connectionstatus for all printers can also be output as a CSV file.

o Errors: Displays only printers that have experienced disconnections.

bOutputs connection status data of the last 10 days for the displayed printers to a CSV file.

The name of the CSV file will be output in the following format: OMS-ConnectionStatistics-YYYYMMDD.csv(YYYYMMDD is the date when the file is output).

The following section describes the procedure to check printer print/receipt mapping status. The print/receiptmapping for all printers can also be output as a CSV file.

*If Transaction count is 0, the Data classification rate appears as “N/A“.

Stores: Number of stores with receipts that have been successfully parsed

Overage: Total value increments by 1 for every 1,000 receipts once the number of successfully parsed receiptsexceeds 30,000 (Ex.: 2 if the number of receipts is 32,000)

The following information of the store that the print data is received in the month previous to the displayedmonth is output to a CSV file.

The name of the CSV file will be output in the following format: OMS-Report-YYYYMM.csv (YYYYMM is the yearand month when the file is output).

o Team: Team name

o Group: Group name

o Store: Store name

o Service: Service name

o Stores: Number of stores (1 if the Transaction Count is 1 or more, 0 in all other cases)

o Print Count: Print count

o Transaction Count: Number of successfully parsed receipts

o Active Printers: Number of printers that have received receipt data

o Transaction Overage: Number after subtracting 30,000 from the print count

o Overage Count: Value that increments by one for every 1,000 receipts after the print count exceeds 30,000

The following information appears for each service.

o Stores: Number of stores with receipts that have been successfully parsed

o Overage Count: Value increments by 1 for every 1,000 receipts once the number of successfully parsedreceipts exceeds 30,000 (Ex.: 2 if the number of receipts is 32,000)

OmniLink Merchant Services has 3 user rights. The features available vary by right.

Rights

The following table describes the three user rights.

Updating Printer Firmware/SSL Certificates

Update Firmware

This section describes the Remote Firmware update function of OmniLink Management Console.The functionallows you to update the firmware of TM printer remotely. You can update the firmware just by selecting a targetTM printer, firmware version, and specifying the date and time of update on OmniLink Management Console.

Note:

o OmniLink Management Console provides all data files necessary to update the firmware.

o For information on the latest version of the firmware, please make an inquiry by emailing [email protected] (North America region) / [email protected] (Europe region).

A Access the OmniLink Management Console from the following URL, and sign in.

B From Team & Group , select the team and then the group for which you want to update the firmware.

D In the Devices section, click the printer for which you want to update the firmware.

E Click Printer Setting.

F Click Choose Update Firmware in Firmware Status.

G In the “Choose firmware“ field, specify the firmware version and the time period to update, then click Save.

Note:

o The TM printer will reboot after the firmware update. Make sure that the TM printer is not used while the printer isrebooting.

o If the TM printer is not powered on or not connected to OmniLink Management Console correctly during thespecified time period, the firmware update is not performed.

H When the specified time period has passed, check the update result with the “Status“ message in the“Firmware status“ field.

Updating SSL Certificates

SSL certificates installed in printers connected to OmniLink Merchant Services expire.

Printers with SSL certificates that need to be updated will display the update message (See Step5) on the DeviceDetail screen. When this happens, update the SSL certificate promptly.

The certificate will be updated at the specified time.

The update message disappears once the SSL certificate update completes.

If the specified update period passes but the update message does not disappear, check the power to theprinter and the connection to OmniLink Merchant Services. Then, try specifying the update date and timeagain.

Note:

o If an old SSL certificate expires, the printer will no longer be able to connect to OmniLink Merchant Services. Assuch, make sure to set the date/time and update the certificate as soon as possible.

o The TM printer will reboot after the certificate update. Make sure that the TM printer is not used while the printer isrebooting.

o If the TM printer is not powered on or not connected to OmniLink Management Services correctly during thespecified time period, the certificate update is not performed.

Updating Firmware and SSL Certificates in Batches

The firmware and SSL certificates of multiple printers can be updated at the same time by uploading CSV files thatcontain update information for the firmware and SSL certificates.

Note:Up to 2,000 printers can be updated at the same time.

C Click Bulk Registration and then Download CSV under FW Update.

The name of the CSV file downloaded will be in the following format: firmware_YYYYMMDDHHmmss.csv(YYYYMMDDHHmmss is the date and time when the file is downloaded).

D Specify the CSV file directory and then click Save.

E Open the downloaded CSV file on a PC and then edit printer information as described in “Format ofFirmware/SSL Certificates Information CSV Files” on page 31. Save the file.

The character code is "UTF-8" and the line feed code is "LF" or "CRLF".
