RESPIRATORY PROTECTION PROGRAM

CONFINED SPACE GRAIN BIN ENTRYThe Grain Safety program is in tended for workers and m anagers in the grain industr y. This includes grain elevator s, farm operator s and workers, grain hauler s, and agr icul ture business owners. The m ajor focus of the program is on safety in confined space work areas including entr y, r espirator y protect ion, and prevention of grain dust explosions. space entr y and lock out procedures.

The OSH A respirator y standard requires a wr i t ten respirator y protect ion program for si tuat ions in which PELs of air borne contam inants could be exceeded or when the em ployer r equires use of r espirator s by workers. Train ing wi l l assist agr icul ture based em ployers who require respirator use to com ply with the OSH A respirator y protect ion program standard.

The goal of the tr ain ing is to in form agr icul tural producers and em ployers of agr icul tural workers about agr icul tural r espirator y exposures and diseases that are com m on in the agr icul tural envir onm ent.The course wi l l cover r espirator y hazards associated with agr icul tural exposure with an em phasis on select ing the cor rect r espirator.
