“God is rich in mercy, because of His boundless love for us.” Ephesians 2:4 tells us God’s love knows no boundaries and neither does St. Mary of the Lakes. New parishioners, regardless of where they live, are welcome and encouraged to register at our parish. Registration forms are available at the doors of the church, in the parish office, and on our website at smlparish.org. (Click on contact us/registration.)
Confessions are heard Saturdays
after 9:00 a.m. Mass and from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may also call the parish office to make an appointment for a different time.
Please call the parish office anytime or
speak to one of the priests after Mass.
Baptisms are celebrated on the second
and fourth Sundays of the month. Parents must attend a Baptism Preparation Session prior to their child’s Baptism. Sponsors also are encouraged to attend. Call the parish office (609) 654-8208, Ext. 110 as early as possible to make the necessary arrangements.
Congratulations to our engaged
couples. Call (609) 654-8208, Ext. 117 to make arrangements for your wedding. We suggest you call at least a year in advance.

someone you know is considering becoming a Catholic Christian or if you were baptized Catholic but never received the Eucharist and/or Confirmation, call (609) 654-8208, Ext.113. There are no tests to pass or fail. There is only faith to give and share.

During the Masses on Mother’s Day weekend, Father Dan gave 50 moms a Kohl’s gift card for having the most children, grandchildren, the newest child and other “Mom” criteria, creating smiles and raised eyebrows along the way. At the end of each Mass, every mother was presented with a long-stemmed rose.
Father Dan hands a Kohl’s gift card to a parishioner-mom who has 27 grandchildren!
Names for the Mother’s Day Card Memorial Board not submitted by the May 4th deadline can be found in smaller version in parish front and back entrances. There were far too many to list in the Bulletin.
Registration is now open for Cave Quest: Following Jesus the Light of the World, a “totally Catholic” Vacation Bible School program. The program runs from August 1st through August 5th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the SML Parish Education Center on Route 70. Check-in is 8:30 a.m. Children aged four (as of June 1) to starting fifth grade in Septem-ber are welcome to join this exciting adven-ture. Visit www.smlparish.org to register or for information.

Director of Religious Education MaryPat Scordato imparts last-minute instructions to First Communicants.
First Communicants with Father Dan, Father Carlos, and altar servers
Father Dan asked First Communicants to come to Sunday Mass dressed in their Communion finery so they could stand for congratulatory applause. “This will be the first and last time you can stand on a pew!” he said, to much laughter.
The Crowning of Mary, Queen of Heaven
First Communicants pray the Hail Mary
before Mass. 556—Page 5
It is imperative and important for you to maintain your mental health, not only for yourself, but also for your family, friends, and colleagues. Here are a few tips that could raise your overall mood and keep depression away.
Track gratitude and achievements in a jour-nal. Each day, include three things you are grateful for and three things you were able to accomplish.
Start your day with a cup of coffee. Coffee consumption is linked to lower rates of depression. If you can’t drink coffee because of caffeine, try another good-for-you drink, such as green tea.
Plan a getaway, such as camping with friends or a trip to the tropics. The act of planning offers something to look forward to, raising your mood.
Laugh! Spend time with a funny friend, watch a comedy. Laughter reduces anxiety.
Go off the grid: leave phone at home and spend time face-to-face with someone.
Dance while doing housework. Dancing reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) and increases endorphins (the body’s “feel good” chemicals).
Spend time with a furry friend. Time with animals lowers the stress hormone.
Work some omega-3 fatty acids into your di-et. They are linked to decreased depression.
Take a 30-minute walk in nature—without your cell phone.
In order to be of service to all parishioners during Masses, ushers should be able to provide CPR when necessary, as well as be able to properly use the defibrillator in church. Anyone capable of providing training, please contact John Fleming at (609) 975-2112 or email him at [email protected]. Training can be performed in the Emmaus Center.
The newly-formed Senior Adult Ministry, although a little light on men, is well on its way, with twenty two women coming together on May 10th to launch this important ministry. The first meeting was alive with ideas, discussion, and the desire for creating a meaningful and long-term ministry. They plan to focus on catechesis, socializing (bus trips, dinners, et al.), corporal works of mercy, fellowship, such as going on pilgrimages, and social justice issues. Kay Murray, Dot Foley, Irma Lorenz, Elaine Jackson and Margie Ritter make up the ministry’s leadership team. The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Emmaus Center.

The Daughters of St. Therese will meet at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 16th in the church. All women and girls of the parish are welcome.
Religion Education classes begin in September and are held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for first through sixth graders. Seventh and eighth graders meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We have a large program at our parish, so the need for Catechists is also great and includes classroom assistants, hall monitors, substitute catechists and office help. But the rewards are also great! If you would like to learn more, call (609) 654-2546, Ext. 310 or email [email protected].
Parishioners can donate $130 for flowers on the altar to honor a loved one or to make a special prayer request. Anyone wishing to adorn the altar, call the parish office (609) 654-8208.
Please help make this another successful clothing drive! Items we accept include men’s, women’s, and children's clothing (all seasons), shoes, hats, belts, ties, handbags, coats, jackets, bed and bath
linens and stuffed animals. All clean wearable clothing and shoes are reused by the less fortunate. The cloth-ing does not end up in landfills, thus helping to keep America green and clean. Please note: We do not ac-cept toys! Place all drop-offs (Monday—Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) in the trailer at REAR of school, 196 Route 70.

Registration and enrollment for the upcoming school year continues at St. Mary of the Lakes School which accepts students grades K-8 with full-day Kindergarten. The school also offers 3, 4, and 5 day-a-week morning/full-day Pre-K. Call (609) 654-2546 for registration packet or set up a tour.
On Friday, May 6th, SMLS Pre-K hosted a Mother’s Day Tea. The children sang songs and blessed their moms while enjoying tea, cookies, eclairs and fruit. The students also presented a card with a book they wrote about Mommy and a vase holding a tissue paper flower.
SMLS sixth-grader Harrison Orr was a gold medal winner in the 2016 National Young Musicians Showcase Competition. Further, he enjoyed the excitement and honor of playing at the winners concert at Carnegie Hall on April 24th. Congratulations, Harrison, on this amazing accomplish-ment!
A big “Thank You” to SMLS students who greeted mothers and all parishioners at Mass on Mother’s Day. Proudly wearing their SMLS uniforms, they warmly welcomed arrivals at the 10:30 a.m. and Noon Masses and their efforts did not go unnoticed! Arriving parishioners felt truly wel-comed as the younger people greeted them. We hope this event will become a student ministry at upcoming Children’s Masses.
Special thanks to Liz Walsh and Jenn O'Brien and all who helped organize another fabulous Blingo Night! It was a fun night out for SMLS ladies, family, and friends with many great prizes, but not many empty seats!

CORNER
St. Mary of the Lakes Knights of Columbus Council 6520 hosts its 9th annual charity golf tournament on Monday, June 13, at Medford Village Country Club.
Proceeds benefit Medford’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Burlington County, two organizations that provide critical services, such as food, shelter, clothing and financial assistance to the needy in our area. We welcome men and women golfers and local businesses to support these vital organizations.
Golf registration is $150.00 and includes greens fees, golf cart, lunch, hors d'oeuvres, sit-down dinner. To volunteer as a hole-sitter, call Dave at (609) 346-4021 or email [email protected].
St. Mary of the Lakes Knights of Columbus Council 6520 will be selling chances to win a $5,000 AAA MidAtlantic Travel Card at Masses on May 14-15.
Each chance costs $10.00. Proceeds of the raffle go to fund a monetary stipend for each of our Trenton diocese seminarians--our future priests. One of our parishioners has won the Grand Prize in each of the last three years. This year, it could be you!
The winner can use the travel card for any travel expense, such as airfare, train tickets, lodging, tours, cruise tickets, or even a stay at an all-inclusive resort. You can even split the payout between two or more trips, or take more than two people, up to the $5,000 value of the Travel Card. The choice is yours.
If you miss the opportunity to purchase a ticket at one of the Masses, call Ken Bodzioch at (609) 744-1417.
Alcoholics Anonymous holds a meeting every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the parish meeting room at St. Mary of the Lakes School. AA stated "primary purpose" is to help alcoholics "stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
The parish-chartered Cub Scout Pack 108 is looking for new scouts. This year Pack 108 spent a night at the Franklin Institute, met a U.S. Secret Service agent, built and raced Pinewood Derby cars, marched in the Halloween Parade, celebrated Scout Sunday with the Parish, went camping and fishing, and learned life skills and core values and so much more. If your family is looking for new adventures and educational activities for your son, Pack 108 is the perfect fit. All boys currently in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to Pack 108’s free rocket launch and recruitment party at Medford’s Freedom Field on Sunday, May 22nd at 3:30 p.m. This party will give your family and son an idea as to what Pack 108 has to offer, including the chance for your son to launch a model rocket into “space.”
For more information on Pack 108, visit Pack 108’s Community Facebook Page, Medford Cub Scouts Pack 108, www.medfordcubscouts.com, or e-mail Pack 108 leaders at [email protected].
Two young men, former SMLS graduates now attending St. Augustine Preparatory School have started a shoe collection campaign called Shoes 2 Share in support of their
Caritas/Service Project for this year. All kinds of footwear are accepted. There is a collection box at the parking lot entrance of the parish for donations during the month of May. Donations will be collected each week. Do you really need that old pair of sneakers?
On Thursday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m. in Pedata Hall, St. Joan of Arc, Marlton, will show the film A Long Way Off.
Savior, breathe forgiveness over all of us. All our
weaknesses thou dost know.
