EXPOSITION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST

HYMN

Prayer of St. Francis

Make me a channel of your peace.Where there is hatred let me bring your love.Where there is injury, your pardon, LordAnd where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope.Where there is darkness, only lightAnd where there’s sadness, ever joy.

Oh, Master grant that I may never seekSo much to be consoled as to consoleTo be understood as to understandTo be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peaceIt is in pardoning that we are pardonedIn giving to ourselves that we receiveAnd in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS BY THE LAY FAITHFUL

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged, because the judgments that you give will be the judgments you will get”

—Matthew 7:1–5Lord, close our eyes to the images or words that fail to uplift our priests. Close our ears to those words that we hear that are not of Jesus. Close our mouths to all negative words that we may speak of our priests.

*Response for prayers below: “LORD, HEAR US”

—To refute our own judgments toward the priesthood*

—To correct our own biases*—To refrain from gossiping about our priests*—To surrender our own selfi shness and

negativity towards the Church*—To strengthen our mercy and forgiveness

towards our priests*—To strengthen our empathy and sympathy

towards our priests*—To minimize our misunderstanding of the

priesthood*—To enhance our patience towards our

priests*Lord, we ask You, because we are the hands and feet of our diocese. We ask You for Your mercy so that we will be safeguarded against confusion.

Lord, we ask for strength, so we can continue to stand behind our faithful priests with love and unyielding faith and courage to help defend them when they are in battle. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS(For our parishes in the Archdiocese of Vancouver)

Lord Jesus. We, though many, are one Body in Christ (Romans 12:5). We know that You will hear our prayers. You have chosen your priests from among us. Strengthen your faithful servants to love you more, to proclaim your word and to act in your name. Help them to discover your words and your wisdom through the Gospel. Enable them to listen to You with their hearts and to fi nd a sense of completeness and wholeness through You. In their discouraging moments, help them to remain faithful to Your banquet. Give them strength when they fi nd themselves weak, doubting, discouraged, persecuted or abandoned.

May they live the fullness of Your gospel message. When they sit at the foot of Your cross, or in the Garden of Gethsemane, give them strength, wisdom, joy and a deep sense of their belonging—to Your banquet and to the banquet of their communities. May they know God’s interior love for them. Amen.

A LITANY FOR PRIESTS(Please see attached handout)

We consecrate them to the Blessed Virgin Mary and we ask St. Michael the Archangel for his protection. We also ask St. John Vianney, St. Padre Pio and St. Pope John Paul II for their intercession.
