VGL Brand Characteristics

In line with the growth and continuing development of VISA Global Logistics, new branding guidelines will be released worldwide over the next few months.

This new look brings elements of silver and grey into our colour pallete to join our VISA blue and green. This mature colour pallette communicates security, reliability and a premium service.

Consistency is key in communicating our brand to our clients. Keep an eye out for this new branding throughout our comapny and start using them in your communications.

Colours are a part of our soul. They tell a story and set the right tone of voice. It is who we are and give us our personaity. It is what we want others to recognise us by.

IT NewsWelcome to the latest IT News!

First of all, we would like to extend a BIG welcome to Adam King who has filled the position of IT Support Analyst for the VISA Global Group. Adam is working very closely with Paul on improving Day to Day support matters, as well as assisting with Server Work… Welcome to the VISA Family Adam!

In other news, there is a lot of behind the scenes work happening to prepare VISA for its next round of Server and Application upgrades. This is scheduled for later on this year so stay tuned!. In the coming OTM issues, IT will be providing some hints, tips and tricks to assist you in your day to day workings… For now, here are a few shortcuts to assist you in your work day.

This issue, we reveal the Secrets of the Windows Key.

Over the years, many people have asked me what the “Windows Logo” button on the keyboard does. For those that don’t know it, this key in generally located on the bottom left corner of your keyboard, located between the CTRL and ALT Keys, and has the Windows Logo embedded on it that looks like this , thus why its called the Windows Key.

Anyways, enough boring history, here are some cool things you can do with the windows key.

• On its own opens the start menu

• + E Opens Windows Explorer, so you can view all your network drives

• + D will minimise all windows and show your desktop screen

• + A directional Arrow will move your Active application around the screen

• + P (For laptop users only) Will quick bring up the Presentation settings allowing you to connect and external screen/projecter/TV/etc

Cantarella Bros are known in Australia as pioneers in pure coffee with brands such as Vittoria Coffee and Aurora Coffee. They are known for introducing a true coffee culture into the Australian market. They have also been long term partners with VISA Global Logistics.

So when Cantarella Bros identified the opportunity to bring a new product offering, a high quality coffee pod system Espressotoria, to Australian consumers through an eCommerce platform, they came to VISA Global Logistics to work together to create a true solution to make this endeavour a successful one.

As part of this partnership VISA Global Logistics drove this project through alliances with trusted suppliers and our own 3PL solutions. We achieved this by interfacing the Espressotoria website through to the VISA Global Logistics warehouse management system, enabling us to create an eParcel manifests for Australia Post and organising the physical pick and pack of the product. VISA Global Logistics was able to deliver a complete logistics solution for Vittoria Coffee within a three week period.

This highlights just one example of VISA Global Logistics’s ability to create and develop solutions for our partners through project management expertise and our unique ability to bring services to the market quickly and efficiently.

eCommerce Case Study


Costco ResultsVISA Global Logistics was part of the Costco tender process through 2012/2013.

We came 2nd overall out of the 36 freight forwarders that were invited to be a part of the tender.

Although we didn’t win, it’s a fanstic results we should all be proud of.

Thank you to everyone in the VISA team who helped throughout the tender process for the hard work and expertise you put in.

Visa Brisbane Exports office have move to the next level in outwards exports in both Air and Sea. We currently have shipments on the go into countries including Russia, Mauritania, Kazakhstan, Mongolia & Chile. Nothing is of the ordinary as one specific client is mining equipment of which is being sent to the furthest, most remote areas on earth. The shipment sizes vary from 100kgs to 10 x 40’ SOC containers worth a staggering 7 million in one shipment!

It has all been a steep learning curve but the team has pulled together and from the words of our clients “ a pleasure to deal with and have saved our butts on numerous occasions”

Brisbane Exports Growth

Our new facility in Auckland will be completed on 7 June 2013. They will relocate to the new facility on 28 & 29 June and will begin operations from the new facility on Monday 1 July 2013.

This new facility has a dramatically increased warehouse capacity, as well as now providing the full suite of warehouse services. Some of the highlights of this facility include:

• 4,000 pallet brand new warehouse with undercover pack & unpack facility,

• Offering full suite of pick & pack and cross docking services, underpinned by “Paperless” WMS

• Airfreight Bond

• FAK Packing & Unpacking for International & Coastal movements.

• MAF approved facility (AQIS)

• Own branded transport operations

• Strategically located in Penrose, 500 metres from Metroport (Tauranga rail head) which handles 50% of the import & export container traffic for Auckland

New Auckland facility Italy UpdateThe Italy team had a guided tour on board the MSC Corinda, a massive 14000 TEU vessel for 14 of our customers.

The visit began with the entrance to the port of La Spezia where the security officer came on board of the bus we had arranged from Vicenza and escorted us explaining all the various security procedures of the port. After the port tour we were escorted on board the ship where we waited for the third officer and two managers of MSC that led us inside the ship starting from the engine room to end up in the cockpit.

Robert Pelsky and Edward Yao had a very full program to fulfil when they made a visit to Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand last month. The boys were taken to 32 sales visits in one week but managed to keep their energy up and have come out with some very positive outcomes already.

Of course, it wasn’t all work and Rob and Ed were able to let their hair down and take in the action at the New Zealand leg of the V8’s, meeting VISA sponsored team Tony D’Alberto.

The boys from Shanghai thanked everyone for their hospitality and effort into putting together a great programme.

Whirlwind sales tour - NZSouth East Asia UpdateDid you know we had a representative office in Taipei, Taiwan?

VISA Taiwan is ideally located in the centre of Taipei City and close to the main industrial sites. Keelung, one of Taiwan’s major Ports, is only 30 kilometers to the north of Taipei. VISA Taiwan offers the best possible connections to all parts of Taiwan.

George recently visited this area to catch up with our Taipei team and to tour the facilities of one of our current clients, Brother. VISA Global Logistics has won the 2013 - 2014 Australia container movements and continues to partner with this great company.

Perth’s rising starJennie Williams, customs broker at our Perth office, currently holds the role of WA President of the CBFCA. The CBFCA WA Conference was held 5&6 April at the Hyatt Hotel. With the full allocation of 2012-2013 CPD points up for grabs the convention was well attended by Customs Brokers.

Each presentation was highly informative and topics ranged from Customs Integrity, Brokers CPD Training, Broker Obligations, The new direction for Perth Airport, The changing face of DAFF plus other current issues.

Record numbers attended the Ball and Jennie, as current WA President for the CBFCA, accepted a cheque for sponsorship for the Ray Melling WA Student Achievement Award from Jeanette Melling.

Footscray Run for the KidsFrom the Footscray office we had four participants in Melbourne’s Run for the Kids race raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday appeal:

They are also starting a project with Ballarat University working with an intern - Yi Chen - who is looking at logistics optimisation software.

Yi will be working with Melbourne and Sydney transport departments and looking at ways of improving efficiency.

Sydney makes their cup count

Melbourne Easter Pizza FestThe Melbourne office got together in the boardroom with enough pizzas to feed an army to celebrate Easter and a raffle with 13 prizes to end the day.

Community and Celebration

On Thursday the 23rd of May the Sydney office got together for a morning of tea, cakes and fundraising as they make their cup count for cancer at their Biggest Morning Tea event. Everyone chipped in and brought something along for the team to enjoy, which meant a lot of leftovers at the end of the event! The Sydney team managed to raise a fantastic $243.85 in their fundraising efforts.

Here’s how every cup counts: $100 Can help provide free accommodation to cancer patients, their families and carers during treatment.

VISA Community Sponsorships - Sydney Cricket Club

It was a strong year for the Sydney Cricket Club, who have been partners with VISA Global Logistics for the past 3 years. They finished the 2012/2013 season with two teams as premiers, two teams as runners up in their grand final and 4th overall in the Club Championships.

The Club’s Cricket Operations were wonderfully managed by their hard working General Manager, David Kelly. David took on the responsibility of coordinating key changes to the process of recruitment, Academy programmes, venues and volunteers.

The ‘proof is in the pudding’ and they are seeing positive results in the Club Championship position along with the fact that three teams qualified for finals with fourth grade finishing as minor premiers.

In the next few months the club will be having a very busy time with a host of events including their awards night, the Cricket NSW Awards Night, annual Golf Day and the UK tour for the Ashes.

As they look forward to the 2013/14 season, the club plans to build their financial position and improve in all areas. Their major ongoing goal is to win the 1st Grade Premiership, Club Championship and see some of their team play for NSW and in the Big Bash!

The VISA/SCC PARTNERSHIPFor the past 3 years, VISA Global Logistics has partnered with Sydney Cricket Club in an ongoing sponsorship. This sponsorship supports members of Sydney Cricket’s Junior Scholarship program where players are brought from the Country to the City and provided with educational studies from the University of Technology Sydney.
