Dear Team,
Thank you. It’s been a wonderful year working with you. We’ve achieved great milestones; we’ve opened new offices, tendered for a number of big companies, welcomed new team members, run successful campaigns, increased awareness of our brand both internally and externally, increased air freight and business in China. Without each of you doing your part, we wouldn’t have achieved these milestones - on behalf of the Partners , you all need to be congratulated.
2013 will bring a range of new initiatives - a new website, an internal library of sales tools, social media campaigning, new offices and a host of advertising and PR commitments that will position us as a company that can certainly cater to logistics needs across the entire supply chain.
The Partners and I take this opportunity to wish each of you and your families a safe, healthy and happy Christmas and holiday period and we look forward to working with each of you in the New Year.
Be safe, George & the Partners

Or off it as the case may be, so we can ship it to
underprivileged communities!
Bikes4Life gets local communities together to work on cleaning and
repairing bikes and has done since that moment a young boy from
a tribe in Uganda begged founder, Ebony Butler, for a bicycle for
Christmas.
Ebony’s sentiment in response was “Why send just one bike, when
we could ship a whole container load of bikes?”.
An interview on ‘The Project’ between Dave Hughes and Ebony
Butler one night revealed that Bikes4Life had 500 bikes ready to be
shipped to Northern Uganda in one month’s time.
The 500 bikes were primarily going to expectant mothers to bring
clean water to their families, a 50km journey from some dwellings.
The closest medical amenities in this region are 2 hours away by
foot and some of Bikes4Life’s donated bikes were custom-made
with trolleys to aid the ill to hospitals and doctors.
ENTER VISA GLOBAL LOGISTICS
VISA Global Logistics contacted Bikes4Life regarding the logistics
side of this project to find knowledge and a budget surrounding
were lacking.
The Directors were more than supportive in this instance – “Let’s do
it!”, they said. VISA Global Logistics was involved.
JRT Transport arranged for the delivery of an empty container to
the Bikes4Life warehouse, Port Melbourne. The true efforts, huge
participation and philanthropy shown that day with volunteers
packing the bikes into the container was admirable and absolute.
Everyone involved in the collection of bikes and repair works
spanning a 2 year period was in attendance. The container was
brought back to VISA Global Logistics, Yarraville, and was ‘dressed’
with sponsor details – main sponsor VISA Global Logistics, Expat
Deli, JRT, Man With A Van and Cotton On Foundation – and it was
‘tagged’ by a graffiti artist.
The container was off to the Port of Melbourne Authority and onto
the Maersk Line, where the container was filmed being lifted onto
the ship. The Captain of the ship also gave his assurance that the
container would arrive at destination safely.
It’s an astounding achievement that this 40’ container with 500
bikes began its journey from Melbourne, reached Tanjung Palapas,
was discharged in Mombasa (Kenya), trucked inland 3,000kms
through Nairobi (the world’s most notorious land of corruption)
into Kampala in Northern Uganda where the bikes were distributed
by Ebony and the Bikes4Life team. The bikes were definitely well
received!
Following the journey, the empty container was converted to a
bicycle workshop attracting youth from various regions, giving
them the opportunity to learn about and repair bikes, applying
themselves in a positive way.

WHAT’S NEXT?
Bikes4Life volunteers in Sydney have repaired 400 bikes to be shipped to Uganda at Christmas time.
This will be the second container shipped to Uganda by VISA Global Logistics. Bikes are going to young victims of
war and communities who have lived through over 2 decades of insurgency.
The container will be decked out to become a bicycle workshop for former child soldiers in Northern Uganda.
WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
Get down to 171 Gibbes Street, Chatswood, on 23.12.12 to help pack the bikes into the container.

Movember The ‘Mo Bros’ did their part for raising men’s health

BARRY THE CAT!!Meet Barry the Cat, an undesirable omen that
appears on the desks of those who slip, bringing
embarrassment and dishonour.
He’s been in the lives of Footscray’s I.T. office for
the last couple of years, only becoming known to
the rest of the team in the last few weeks - as an
entrant in weekly raffles to benefit his I.T. team.
Celebrating a country of fresh produce and
multiculturalism, Melbourne ditched home lunches
for an office “International Food Day”. Each staff
member brought in a plate of food to represent a
country and lunch was held in the boardroom. It
was a great initiative to get together, eat well and
put on a couple of kilograms.

Australia’s Tidbinbilla, located 35km southwest of Canberra,
accompanies Madrid and California as the third site on planet
Earth to host a 34m space antenna, known as DS34. The site,
also home to Deep Space Station 35, is building the satellite to
generate uninterrupted communication to space, interplanetary
space probes, satellites and even the Mars Rover. It helps to form
an international network of antennas, each approximately 120
degrees apart, that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions
and radio and radar astronomy observations for the exploration
of the solar system and the universe. The network also supports
selected Earth-orbiting missions.
Strategic placement permits constant observation of spacecraft as
the Earth rotates, and helps to make the DSN the largest and most
sensitive scientific telecommunications system in the world. Over
the next 10-15 years, the planets will align in such a way that the
Southern Hemisphere will have the best overall view of the existing
spacecraft spread out across the Solar System.
One Small Step for VISA Global Logistics One Giant Leap for Mankind
VISA Global Logistics played an instrumental role in the
transportation of DS34, shipping a combination of 30 high cubes,
open tops, flat racks and bolsters over 18,000km via road, sea
and road from Spain to Tidbinbilla. The 2.5 year project can be
tracked here as a live feed monitors the progress of the satellite’s
construction http://www.cdscc.nasa.gov/Pages/Antennas/dss35.html
Well done to the VISA Global Logistics team.
