1. You can access Trinity Lutheran Seminary’s Student Account Management (TLS SAM) at https://tls.empower-xl.com. Alternatively, you can point your browser to the main Trinity Lutheran Seminary (www.tlsohio.edu) and click on the SAM link at the top right.

2. Once you arrive at the Student Account Management page, you will be greeted with a login screen. a. Enter your Seminary-assigned username and password. (Are you still using your default password?

You really ought to change that to something more secure.)

3. Once you have logged in, click on the Student Records tab at the top left to access additional options.

4. The left submenu column is titled Registration. Click on Register for Courses to proceed.

5. A Registration page like the following will appear. Click on the Add Courses button on the left side.

6. You will be redirected to a listing of available courses for the upcoming semester.

a. All sub-terms within the semester are listed (for example, Spring Semester will include J-Term, Full-Semester, Session 1, and Session 2 courses).

b. Courses are sorted alphanumerically by Department Code and Course Number.

7. To make your selections, check the box to the left of each course you want to take. a. The system assumes by default that you will be taking courses for credit. If you wish to audit a

course, you can toggle the Enrollment Type in the next box to the right. b. In the example below, four courses have been selected for credit. Let’s see what happens when we

click the Register button at the top.

8. After a brief processing message, this screen appeared. Three requests went through, but one is still

pending. Click See Detail to find out why.

9. This student hasn’t met the pre-requisites for one course so it appears under Pending Registrations. a. For Pending Registrations, the options are to Delete the request, leave it intact (and submit a

Petition to take the course without the appropriate pre-requisite), or ask to be on the waitlist (which wouldn’t make sense in this case since the issue is not lack of seats).

b. Note: Some courses such as New Testament Options have differing pre-requisites based on program. For example, MDiv students must have first completed Greek whereas MTS students are not required to do so. If your course election is being blocked due to a missing pre-requisite that should not be applied to your program, email [email protected] to request an override.

c. Additional reasons a course may appear under Pending Registrations would be schedule conflicts (two courses overlapping) or attempting to repeat a course that has already been completed.

10. Click on View Schedule on the right side. From here, you can print a copy or export to a calendar.

a. Students who will no longer receive mailed or emailed copies of their schedule as it is readily available through SAM.
