October 2011 The rooster crows as the first light breaks forth over the eastern mountains. The day’s work begins at the crack of dawn. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 9:00am, moms come and prepare the center; cleaning, cooking and setting up. Ministry in motion happens when God is at work. It takes a lot of activity to get things done, action in the present continuous tense. Besides the cleaning and cooking there is praying and playing, teaching and learning; all in a loving, Christ centered atmosphere. Jamil, our new high tech intern greets the kids with Christian music and gets them doing a holy hip hop to Hill Song’s latest hits while the moms are preparing to serve the meal. When I introduced Jamil to the kids and moms, I told them that Jamil’s name in Arabic means ‘good looking’. In Spanish that translates to ‘Guapo’. The name stuck and he will forever be known as Maestro Guapo. This past month God provided and LSMI was able to outfit the kids with school supplies such as notebooks, pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, crayons, compasses, rulers, scissors, glue sticks, Elmer’s glues, magic markers, crayons and pencil boxes. The children expressed their gratitude with many thanks, gracias, gracias! By the way, we are still collecting back packs. State side back backs cost substantially less and hold up much longer than those available in Mexico. If you want to purchase a few please sent them to our Texas office. Quality back packs are worth the wait. We couldn’t get anything done without people pulling together from both sides of the border. We have Mexican moms week in and week out lending a hand alongside ex-patriots and all of you on the home front that blanket the children and us with prayer and keep the supply coming.
