Kimmel Center Cultural Campus
Dear friends,
Welcome to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, home to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Academy of Music, and Merriam Theater. We are thrilled you have joined us for an event today – and hope that you, too, experience the transformative power of the arts through the diverse tapestry of programming that we offer to our community all season long. Our summer is already jam-packed with exciting happenings, including the much-anticipated run of Hamilton, August 27 through November 17, and we hope you’ll follow along with us through it all.
Sending the kids to summer camp? So are we! Returning this summer for two weeks is the Kimmel Center’s ShowStoppers Musical Theater Camp, an experience for students looking to grow their skills in dance, voice, and theater. We’ve also joined forces with our neighbors at University of the Arts for Philly’s second annual “Creative Jazz Institute” – bringing local, national, and international middle and high school jazz students to the Avenue of the Arts, July 8 – 20. Learning from UArts’ & Kimmel’s staff, plus professional musicians, attendees have the opportunity to learn both on the Kimmel Center’s and the University’s campuses.
We are a home for arts milestones and “aha” moments and we present a variety of family-friendly programs for all ages. Looking for summer fun? The Kimmel Center is a supporting partner of the Wawa Welcome America Gospel on Independence performance on June 30, as a powerful, 100-voice Philadelphia Men’s Fellowship Choir performs in front of Independence Hall! Brand new this year, as part of Wawa Welcome America’s week-long 4th of July events, we are excited to invite the Philadelphia community to the Kimmel Center Great American Party on the Plaza on July 2, celebrating our independence and highlighting the broad range of free and educational programming we offer all season long. With Broadway performances, face-painting, giveaways, and a Hamiltunes sing-along led by our ShowStoppers musical theater students, the Party on the Plaza is an event you surely do not want to miss!
As always, stay up-to-date on Kimmel Center happenings by connecting with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and subscribing to our weekly e-newsletter, Ovation.
Warmly,
