Message from the OPAOntario Mining & Exploration Directory 2014

Garry Clark Executive Director, Ontario Prospectors Association

The New Year is here and hopefully the economics of our industry are better than 2013.

Our industry is always optimistic and knows that the cycle will turn again! Ontario is one of the best political jurisdictions to explore and possesses world class geological environments. The upcoming changes to Map Selection from Ground Staking should improve the competitiveness of Ontario.

There have been some great successes in 2013 that have been over shadowed by the dismal market conditions.

Projects like:

• ProbeMinesLimited,BordenGoldcontinuestoaddgoldthroughtheirexploration efforts in the Chapleau area;

• WesdomeGoldMineshasaddednewzonestotheRiverGoldMineandkeepmoving forward;

• NorthAmericanPalladiumaremovingforwardatCanada’sonlyprimarypalladium producer with the new shaft accessing the higher grades;

• HarteGoldCorp.movesforwardonitsSugarZoneintheWhiteRiverarea;

• DetourGoldCorporation,DetourLakeMinewentintoproduction;

• WallbridgeMiningCompanyLimited’sBrokenHammerCopper/PGEprojectin Sudbury continues to move forward.

The Ontario Prospectors Association wish success and prosperity to all the Explorers,MinersandSuppliersin2014.

Dryden, Ontario – Your exploration and mining base, in the heart of a vast

frontier. Located on the TransCanada highway in central Canada; Dryden

sits in the emerging gold belt for Northwestern Ontario, offering tremen-

dous potential for mining. The Dryden Regional Airport is a full service

facility capable of handling all types and sizes of aircraft, equipped with

an Instrument landing system (ILS), a fully automated weather observa-

tion station, and staff that is dedicated to assist enterprises grow. Growing

numbers of mineral exploration companies are settling in Dryden to tap into

the existing resources and infrastructure.

Laurentian Goldfi elds Ltd. continues to explore the Van Horne Gold

Property located southwest of Dryden. This site has one of the highest con-

centrations of gold showings in the Kenora District, and is well connected

to Highway 502 and the TransCanada Highway 17 for excellent year round

access to needed infrastructure and support services. Exploration and sur-

vey work to date has identifi ed both high-grade and bulk-tonnage drill ready

targets on the property; suggesting a large, robust hydrothermal system with

potential for high-grade and bulk-tonnage gold deposits.

One of the leading exploration and development companies in north-

western Ontario, Treasury Metals Inc. is excited about creating opportuni-

ties in the region. Treasury Metals, a TSX-listed exploration and develop-

ment company, is advancing its way through the mine permitting process

with the company’s fl agship Goliath Gold Project. Goliath Gold Project

Satellite Communications in the Mining IndustryReliable satellite communications is essential to remote mining operations. Voice over IP (VoIP) and Internet access are rapidly becoming as important to miners as food and a warm bed. There have been exciting new satellite technologies over the past few years and we thought it would be a good idea to interview the C.E.O and founder of one of Canada’s leading satellite companies to see what’s new.

In 1992, Rick launched on to the national stage when he founded Galaxy Satellite, which morphed into Galaxy Broadband Communications and became one of the country’s leading satellite service providers. Galaxy specializes in providing data and voice services for oil and gas, construction, exploration, production, office and camp morale. Galaxy’s head office is located in Mississauga, Ontario, with Canadian sales offices in Edmonton, Alberta and Prince George, British Columbia, in addition to an American sales office in Dallas, Texas. Prospector: Rick, why don’t we start with the question what’s new in satellite communications? Rick Hodgkinson: I think the most significant change that I have seen in this industry is that the Internet has become an indispensable part of our modern economy and for remote operations satellite has become a virtual lifeline. It has always played a critical role in remote communications but now it is integral to the business itself. We have customers in the mining industry that if the internet link drops, the drilling stops immediately.

Prospector: So it’s not just about email and surfing the web anymore? Rick Hodgkinson: No, but that’s still an important aspect. We are seeing more and more customers approaching us for better solutions. Their existing satellite solution is no longer meeting their needs and adversely affecting operations, or worse, camp morale. They know they need something better but don’t know what. That’s where our experienced sales engineers really show value as they sit with the customer and after carefully understanding their needs, which are all unique, we suggest a proof of concept or trial at our facility or their site with their applications.

Prospector: Ok, so based on your experience with satellite what would you recommend our readers consider?Rick Hodgkinson: Firstly, don’t be blinded by speed claims. Secondly, the old adage you pay for what you get applies. Make sure you are getting a QoS network, Managed Services and engineering support. Now, that said, at Galaxy our biggest challenge is responding to the questions “so why is your price so much better than what I am paying now?”

Prospector: Then why is your price less?Rick Hodgkinson: Simple; we have deployed the latest, most efficient technology to get the most bits of data from a satellite signal and we use the most powerful satellites. If your reader has an older large C Band dish and are looking to upgrade their service levels I say keep your C Band but supplement with a newer Ka or Ku Band technology. This way you get a fully redundant service, on two different satellites that will deliver close to 100% reliability and for a price that is dramatically less than upgrading the old dish. A true win-win scenario; more throughput, higher reliability and lower cost overall.

2013 Ontario Prospector Award Winner for the Borden Gold Project

Probe Mines Honoured with the 2013 Ontario Prospector Award For the Borden Gold Project

Advertorial

Little did Dr. David Palmer, President and CEO of Probe Mines Limited; realize what he had on his hands when he originally acquired the Borden Gold Project property, located near Chapleau, Ontario.

Having already made a significant discovery with the Black Creek Chromite Project in the James Bay Lowlands in 2009, Dr. Palmer liked the idea of adding a grassroots property to the portfolio, especially since the Borden property was easily accessible to infrastructure.

The project rapidly evolved. Since the discovery in 2010, continued drilling has outlined a pit-constrained resource of 4.3 MM oz at 1.03 g/t Au average grade at 0.5g/t Au cut-off, with 85% of the total pit constrained resource in the indicated category. This includes a consistent higher-grade core of

2.34 MM oz @ 1.7 g/t Au average grade at a 1.0 g/t Au cut-off.

With over 517 drill holes completed, representing over 150,000 metres, the mineralized zone has now been identified over an area 3 km long by up to 200 metres wide and to a depth of 500 metres. The discovery of a new, High-Grade Zone in the southeastern part of the deposit in December 2012 consists of an intersection of 51metres that graded 10.3 g/t Au and also includes 25 metres at 17.8 g/t Au. Drilling has confirmed the continuity of the High Grade Zone which has currently been delineated up to 1,000m along strike to the SE of the initial high grade intersection, and remains open along strike. The high-grade zone will be included in the next updated NI43-101 Resource Estimate.

Probe has also identified potential for new discoveries within the Borden Belt that extends to the Northeast of the Borden gold zone and the Company recently acquired over 350 square km of additional unexplored ground comprising the East Limb Property.

Along with prospectors Jack Robert and Mike Tremblay, Dr. David Palmer and the Probe exploration team were recognized with the prestigious "2013 Ontario Prospector Award" for the Borden Gold Discovery, during the recent annual awards ceremony held in Sudbury on November 5, 2013.

With the dwindling number of significant gold discoveries globally, the discovery and evolution of the Borden Gold Project in mining-friendly Ontario will potentially play an important role in the Province's already rich gold mining history.
