Rainstorm by Barbara Lehman. (2007). Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company. A lonely boy in a big house finds a mysterious key that unlocks an adventure. Simple and sweet. 

  

 Good Dog, Carl by Alexandra Day. (1985). New York: Aladdin Paperbacks. Carl the dog babysits a curious and thrill-seeking baby. Follow all of Carl’s adventures with Carl’s Afternoon in the Park (1991), Carl and the Kitten (2011) and more.
