Fashion Partner Universities
There are five partner schools for fashion students to choose from:
• Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland
• Shih Chien University, Taiwan
• University for the Creative Arts, United Kingdom
• RMIT, Australia
• HTW Berlin, Germany
Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
• In Helsinki, Finland • 14,000 students • Term Dates:
• August – December • January – June
• Language of instruction is Finnish and English • Accommodation
• Organized through the HOAS • Ranges from 250-525 euros ~ $375-$790/month
• Students choose from a wide range of Fashion and non-Fashion courses.
• Past students have taken things like photography, Finnish culture, book making, etc.

• Fashion program is at the Taipei Campus which has 10,000 students
• Language of instruction is Mandarin with some help in English
• Term Dates: • September – January
• February – June

University for the Creative Arts
• Fashion is at the Epsom or Rochester campuses which is about 45 minutes out of London
• Term dates: Semester 1: September – January (possibility of leaving early Semester 2: February – May
• Accommodation Very limited university accommodation Ranges from 88.40 – 107 pounds/week ~ $150 - $180 If they cannot offer you a place in residence, they will give you resources
to find your own place.
• Programs in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Textiles. Students typically follow stage 2 units for most programs and stage one for textiles. Some programs have work experience during the January semester so appropriate visa arrangements need to be made for this.

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
• Fashion Program is at the city campus • Term Dates:
Semester 1: late February – late May Semester 2: Mid July – Mid October
• Accommodation RMIT Village – from $263/week (Australian Dollars) Private shared accommodation from $170/week Homestay $245/week including meals
• Students can take a broad range of courses but must choose either undergraduate courses or TAFE (diploma) courses. The two types of courses cannot be combined in one semester.

Fashion Exchange Specifics
• Register in a nine credit EXCH course at Kwantlen and will take the equivalent of nine credits at the partner institution which will generally count toward your elective requirement at Kwantlen
• You will register in FASN 3200 and FASN 3250 at Kwantlen. • You will do a modified version of FASN 3200 and will
complete your internship upon your return to Canada.
Where Should I Go?
o Consider which school offers a program best suited to your interests and that will meet your elective requirements (2 non-Fashion, one Business, 2 of anything else including Fashion).
o Consider which country or region you are interested in o Think about your budget o Talk to students who have been on exchange and
students who are visiting from these schools
Deciding to Go
Exchange isn’t as expensive as you think.
Additional costs you will face: • Flight – usually $1000 – $2000
• Difference in the cost of living in the host country.
• Extra travelling and spending cash – the amount you spend is up to you.
Scholarships and Awards
KPU Student Learning Enhancement Fund Up to $500 per student per year
One World Scholarship $1,000-$3,000
Premier’s One World Scholarship $5,000-$10,000
Applying to Go
Eligibility Requirements: • Must have completed 30 post secondary credits prior to
departure
• 15 of those credits need to have been completed at Kwantlen
• GPA of 2.67
• Completed application form by the deadline
Fashion students are able to go on exchange during the second semester of third year.
