Opening creditsFrom the links above, we researched into what credits

were included in the opening sequence of the films. We needed opening titles in our main task as we had to create the opening to a thriller movie, and opening credits were part of the requirements included. In researching the already existing thriller openings we found that the credits appeared in two ways – by either fading to black or by imbedding the text into the scene. Since we only had around 2 minutes for our opening we decided to embed the text into the image rather than fade to black.

From the research, we took notes into what credits appeared most frequently, below is the list of the ones

we found:

• A film by...• Casting by...• Music by...• Director of photography...• Screenplay by... / written by...• Cast – just names on their own• Producer...Executive producer• In association with...• Editor...• Film name• Costume designer...• Based on...

How we applied them

We looked for shots that were stable and that the main focus could be on the credits, but that did not detract from establishing our films setting. We then looked at the most frequently used opening credits (to make our main task more realistic, and used those credits for our piece.)We also decided to make up the names of our producers etc as we all had a part in the creation of the main task, and didn’t want to imply that the names on the credits were directly related to what our roles were within the production.

Our Credit choicesAs we only had just over 2 minutes for our opening credits as

well as telling the beginning of our story, we decided to keep the credits to the minimum, only using the most common ones
