Page 9: Opportunities Within Our Churches · 2015-11-18 · Monday, Nov. 9-Wednesday, Nov. 11 TBC SUMMIT First Baptist Church, Millington Tuesday, November 10 Senior Adult Rally First Baptist

Executive Director of Missions Dr. Mitch Martin andPastor Robert West (wife Jeanette), Pastor DarrylRoberts (wife Jacqueline) and Pastor Jim Mustonrecently took a church planting site visit to Portland,OR. They had the opportunity to experience the life ofchurch planters in Portland by touring four differentareas of Portland where pastors were plantingchurches. They learned that Portland is mostly pre-Christian, that is they have no idea of Christendom, but they are open to evangelism.

Please pray and seek God's direction as to what support your church can be to these pastors. Contactthe Association office at 901-373-6161 for more information

by Stuart McCollough

When Broadmoor Baptist Church began over 50years ago, the area the church was located inwhat was known as the Broadmoor community ofMemphis. That is how the church got its originalname. Last year when the church was preparing

to sell their property and relocate, a new name was needed. Members submitted proposals, acommittee narrowed them down, and church members voted to change the name to Waypoint BaptistChurch. Waypoint is a navigational term used to help reach a destination. It also embodies the factthat Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Pastor Bo Grace came to Broadmoor 12 years ago. A native of Jackson, TN, he received hisundergraduate degree in business from Lambuth College and became a successful business ownerof a consulting company. When he was 30 years old, Bro. Bo felt God's call to ministry. He and hisfamily moved to New Orleans, LA where he attended New Orleans Baptist Seminary. While inseminary, he served as Minister of Evangelism at First Baptist Church, New Orleans. After graduating,

Pastor Bo Grace

he served in the same capacity at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS. Prior to coming toBroadmoor, he served as Pastor at Emmanual Baptist Church in Athens, AL. Broadmoor's campus on Austin Peay Highway in Raleigh was very large. The size of the buildingsand the upkeep was draining the church's resources. The decision was made to relocate to a moremanageable facility that would enable the church to continue to do more ministry. Broadmoor soldtheir facility to Greater Imani Ministries and briefly switched buildings with them until they could find amore suitable location. The opportunity arose for Waypoint to relocate to the Bethel Church facilitieson Stage Rd. in Bartlett. Due to differences in services, they are able to share the building and meetfor Sunday School and Worship on Sunday mornings, a Sunday evening service and Wednesdaynight meal and Bible Study each week. The church's administrative offices are located on the secondfloor of the Mid-South Baptist Association in Bartlett.

Waypoint offers ministries for students and children and have a growingAWANA program that meets each Wednesday night. The ministry they haveseen the most growth in since moving to Bartlett is their Senior Adult Ministry,Young in Heart. They meet every other Tuesday. The church is also involvedwith a missions endeavor in Canada. In their former building, they were able tohave one of the largest food pantries in the city that met the needs of many in thecommunity. They also offered a clothes distribution ministry. They do not havethe space to be able to continue this ministry at the present time but are lookingforward to getting back involved in that area of ministry.

The church presently averages about 150 in worship and is outgrowing the facilities at Bethel. They have seen several salvations and have had several families join since relocating. They hope tosoon be able to move to a larger facility or find property to build a new facility that would allow them tocontinue to grow and to start their Needs Ministry back up by providing a food pantry and clothescloset for the community. Bro. Bo and his wife, Lisa have two sons, two daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys hunting, fishing and boating in his spare time. He is excited about the opportunity to interact and get to knowother pastors through the Focus Church process. He hopes to get a fresh perspective from meetingand fellowshipping with them. Some prayer request for Waypoint Baptist Church include: - that they would have direction for finding larger facilities or land to build - that they would continue to focus of reaching people and making disciples - that they would preserve the incredible unity that God has blessed them with thus far

Fayette Baptist Church Building DedicationSunday, October 25

I want to praise the Lord. Ephesians 5:20 says, "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that weask or think according to the power that worketh in us." I really do not know any other way to describe Sunday than thisverse. Words and phrases that come to mind are "WOW," "SPIRIT-FILLED," "AWE," "OVERWHELMED WITH JOY ANDEMOTION," "BLOWN AWAY," "SPEECHLESS." It was a rough estimate that we had between 800-900 on campus forworship. We had multiple salvations and the food and fellowship were great.
