OverviewThe Operations Manual provides computer control personnel and computer operators with a

detailed operational description of the information system and its associated environments, such

1 GENERAL

1.1 Introduction and Purpose

Describe the introduction and purpose of the Operations Manual, the name of the system to

which it applies, and the type of computer operation.

1.2 Project References

List, at a minimum, the User Manual, Maintenance Manual, and other pertinent

documentation.

.1 Run In*entor"

List the runs showin the software components, the job control batch file names, run jobs

and purpose of each run if any portion of the system is run in batch mode. #or onlinetransaction"based processin, provide an inventory of all software components that must he

loaded for the software system to he operational.

.2 Run Seuence

Provide a schedule of acceptable phasin of the software system into a loical series of

operations. !f the system is a batch system, provide the e$ecution schedule, which shows,

at a minimum, the followin%

• $pected run time in computer units

. 0ia'nostic Procedures

Describe the dianostic or error"detection features of the system, the purpose of the

dianostic features and the setup and e$ecution procedures for any software dianostic

 procedures.

List all error codes and messaes with operator responses, as appropriate.

Provide detailed information needed to e$ecute system runs. #or each run include the

information discussed in the subsequent sections.

3.5.1 Control Inputs

Describe all operator job control inputs " for e$ample, startin the run, selectin run

e$ecution options, activatin an online or transaction"based system, and runnin thesystem throuh remote devices, if appropriate.

3.5.2 Primary User Contact

!dentify the user contact *and alternate if appropriate+ for the system, includin the person-s name, oraniation, address, and telephone number.

3.5.3 Data Inputs

Describe the followin if data input is required at production time%

• Disposition of input source and created data

3.5.4 Output Reports

!dentify the report names, distribution requirements, and any identifyin numberse$pected to be output from the run. Describe reports to be produced from the system run

3.5.5 Restart/Recovery Procedures

Provide instructions by which the operator can initiate restart or recovery procedures for

the run.

3.5. !ac"up ProceduresProvide instructions by which the operator can initiate bac'up procedures. 0ross"reference applicable instructions with procedures in the continency plan.

3.5.# Pro$lem Reportin%/&scalation Procedure

Provide instructions for reportin problems to a point of contact. !nclude the person-sname and phone numbers *that is, office. home, paer, etc.+.
