DEAR PARENTS & CARERS

C ongratulations to Rob Warren, Ryan Dawson, Matt Upright and Aaron Beel for their victory in the Under14s South

West Championship. We very much look

forward to hearing about your next challenge in

the National Championship in April. This is a very

significant achievement and represents a combination of

hard work, skill and teamwork. The best predictor of

success in anything worthwhile is hard work. So well

done boys, we are proud of what you have achieved.

There have been a number of other highlights this week.

These have included hearing a great presentation from

Ebby Webber and Martha Newman about their musical

accomplishments, hearing about the first meeting of our

Air Cadets and, finally, seeing some significant progress

on the landscaping in the middle of the site.

We are all looking forward to seeing the landscaping of

the site matching the quality of the facilities and the

classrooms we now have. From my point of view, our

buildings are a marvel and I know that when the site is

finished they will be a positive statement to, and for,

every person inside and outside our school community.

Mike Johnson,

Executive Headteacher

LANDSCAPING HAS

BEGUN!

T he last stage of the new building works is in progress,

ONLINE SAFETY

UPDATE

F urther to previous messages, we are reminding

all parents and carers to regularly review the

social media accounts that their children are

using. It can often be challenging keeping track of

the accounts that young people have; we

recommend that sharing login details with parents/

carers is a condition of your child holding social

media accounts and having mobile devices. Routinely

we recommend that you:

Review your child’s privacy settings to ensure that

unknown people cannot easily contact them or

access their profiles.

Review friends/followers lists and ensure they are all

known in person to your child.

Review conversation threads with your child and talk

about how they are using social media to

communicate with their friends.

Ensure that any photos of your child that are visible

online are appropriate (taken by them or their

friends).

The social media platform that your child is using will

offer support and advice on keeping young people

safe. We also recommend not allowing your child to

take their mobile phone or tablet to bed with them,

and that they always use social media in a communal

part of the house.

AN UNHEARD CRY A voice that’s unheard,

And tears that are unseen,

A mind people assume is clean.

She’s invisible in a crowd,

She’s quiet not loud,

And people assume she’s happy and proud.

She’s top of her class,

PE, art and maths,

She doesn’t get involved in with those chats.

She struggles a lot,

To keep her grades at the top,

But she smiles and passes it away with a nod.

She tries not to eat,

1 apple a day,

She’s dangerously skinny but still full of the grey.

Eating less and less as days go by,

People still not listening to her unheard cry,

Wanting to scream but she’s just too shy.

When she looks in the mirror she sees a big blob of

fat,

She glances again and describes herself as a rat,

Not realising her eyes are as blind as a bats.

Her parents are starting to notice the weight that

she’s losing,

And starting to notice how little food she is

choosing,

And starting to notice how much food she’s

reducing.

The next day she’s pulled out of class,

The head teacher, looking worried, started to ask,

The questions she’d been dreading and hoped this

would go fast.

He asked, ‘What have you been eating?’

She looked at the ground, pretending she was

thinking.

He put a hand on her shoulder and said, ‘It’s okay,

we are going to be helping

Starting today.’

WINTER

Darkness it creeps,

Over the bustling town,

But everything changes,

Once the sun goes down.

Her name strikes chill to the warmest heart.

Here comes the sister queen,

Leaving only a trail of ice and snow

For she always goes unseen.

Winter! Queen Winter!

Behold her chilling glow,

Winter! Queen Winter!

Over the tree tops she glides low.

In her carriage of starlight,

Among her shroud of mist,

Determined to hold the world,

In her icy fist.

Her eyes are palest blue,

Her hair milky white,

Skin pale as porcelain,

In her cheeks a rosy light.

Frost giants march beside her,

For they do her bidding well,

Ice sprites dance behind her,

To catch her if she fell.

Her gown is made of moon beams,

Her silk’s spun from stars,

Her crown crafted from diamonds,

From the planet Mars.

Where she steps,

The flowers freeze,

Warm wind turns,

To an icy breeze.

When she comes to water,

It shall turn to glass,

As the owls and foxes,

Sit to watch her pass.

Snow it falls about her,

Giving a silver light,

But she steps silently,

Through the magic of the night.

So that none shall hear her coming,

And none shall hear her go,

But all shall wake to find,

Fields covered with snow.
