“O spirit of love! how quick and fresh art thou . . .. . . Even in a minute, so full of shapes is fancyThat it alone is high fantastical.”

Welcome to Illyria, a modern ‘fantastical’ temporary place—like adesert concert festival or New Orleans Mardi Gras or a resort destinationwhere there is no cell service—but where the party has been going ona little too long. Illyria needs shaking up and when Viola is shipwreckedon the shore, she’s just the one to do it. At its core, Twelfth Night exploreshow people get stuck in roles that no longer suit them. They keep pur-suing tactics that are doomed to fail. A little fresh insight and perspec-tive is all they need to be free of these ruts they have fallen into. LikeShakespeare in his own time, we use contemporary costumes to expresscharacter and we see Illyria through contemporary eyes. Twelfth Nightis an exploration of LOVE in all its strange and diverse forms, some-times contradicting our ideas and ideals of love. For better and worse,we find things must be hidden to be revealed. The truth will set ourcharacters free. The party will end so that people can get on with theliving part of life.
