Why ORCID?

A permanent global unique ID for researchers, resolving the name ambiguity problem

Help reduce the problem of entering research output data into many research information systems

Help increase the visibility of research output

NTNU Communication Plan

Our targets for creating ORCID records are all full-time faculty of NTNU

The faculty will receive an official letter of notification from NTNU President to explain the benefits of creating ORCID records

Educate and outreach consistently with e-papers, web pages, and workshops

Subject librarians will take the initiative to collect information on faculty

Create ORCID records regularly by batch record creation

Confirm that faculty members have claimed their records successfully

Assure continuous communication and outreach

Provide ongoing maintenance and creation of ORCID records for new members.

Integrate the collection of ORCID records into the NTNU Institutional Repository and the RAE (research assessment exercise) system
