Today!! SETON MINISTRY WEEKEND 2016

What is the Lord asking of you this year? Seton is a wonderful and active parish family of faith. The finan-cial generosity of parishioners enables us to pay our bills. Treas-ure is important, but so are talent and time. A family functions best when all the members help out and take an active part, each according to his/her ability and talent. We challenge you to discern how you can help to build up the Seton faith fami-ly. What is God asking of you? Take a good look at the inside cover of the bulletin to see all of the ministries and societies of Seton. Stop in at our MINISTRY WEEKEND today in the auditorium and see what makes Seton tick!

MERCY BOX Know It–Live It

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING ON IMMIGRATION AND THE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLES Teaching on Immigration Third Principle: A country must regulate its bor-ders with justice and mercy. Undocumented immigrants present a special concern. Often their presence is considered criminal since they arrive without legal permis-sion. Under the harshest view, undocumented people may be regarded as undeserving of rights or services. This is not the view of Catholic social teaching. The Catholic Church teaches that every person has basic human rights and is entitled to have basic human needs met—food, shelter, clothing, education, and health care. Undocumented persons are particularly vulnerable to exploitation by employers, and they are not able to complain because of the fear of discovery and deportation. Current immigration policy that criminalizes the mere attempt to immigrate and imprisons immigrants who have committed no crime or who have already served a just sentence for a crime is immoral. In the Bible, God promises that our judgment will be based on our treatment of the most vulnerable. Before God we cannot excuse inhumane treat-ment of certain persons by claiming that their lack of legal sta-tus deprives them of rights given by the Creator

Next Weekend Second Collection: Seton

Next meeting is Sunday, October 16th at 2 pm in the Chapel to discuss " The Traitor’s Wife " by Allison Pataki (yes, the Governor’s daughter).
