The “Lie/Bet” screen…The last two questions are based on a valid and reliable problem gambling screening instrument which has been

used for many years; saying yes to either of these is highly correlated to a potential gambling problem and indicates a need for further assessment by a trained counselor.

Does this mean that youth who gamble also drink, smoke, use drugs,

and are delinquents?

Spacebar to advance slide

Page 32: Oregon Problem Gambling Awareness - For General Public

NO

… and those who use drugs, drink, smoke, and are depressed, are at higher risk to develop gambling

problems.
