enrolled in a division, the race for that division will be cancelled.

(2) A participant’s age is calculated as at the date of the race. Parental consent for the race is required for participants

aged below 18.

(3) Each participant may enrol and compete in only one of the divisions.

(4) When the basic quota of a division is filled, the male to female ratio for the remaining quota will be determined based

on the gender composition of applicants for that division and the other division of the same level.

7. Entry Fee: $20 (A half-price concession is available to applicants aged below 15 or aged 60 or

above, full-time students and persons with disabilities who are able to produce valid

documentary proof.)

8. Enrolment: Successful applicants and applicants on the waiting list will be selected by ballot.

Enrolment details are as follows:

Period for Submission of Enrolment Forms: 12 to 21 August 2021

Interested persons should submit the duly completed enrolment form in person, by post (the postmark

date will be deemed the date of receipt) or by fax (no.: 2660 7910) to Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centre

or enrol online (http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/programmes/programmeslist/districtsports/searchrsprog.php)

within the Period for Submission of Enrolment Forms.

Date of Ballot: 31 August 2021

A ballot will be held at Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centre in the morning on the above date. Members

of the public are welcome to attend and witness the ballot. Successful applicants and applicants on the

waiting list will be drawn and informed in writing. Results of the ballot will be put up at the Centre

and uploaded to the LCSD website 5 days after the ballot is held.

Period for Payment by Successful Applicants: 7 - 17 September 2021 Successful applicants are required to bring along the notification letter, the original or a copy of their

identity document#, a copy of the proof of relevant qualifications and entry fee (cheques should be

crossed and made payable to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”) to

any LCSD water sports centre, District Leisure Services Office or recreation and sports venue with

Leisure Link Services within the specified period for enrolment. Period for Payment by Applicants on the Waiting List: 21 - 25 September 2021 If there are places remaining after the deadline for payment by successful applicants, applicants on the

waiting list may enrol on a first-come-first-served basis at any LCSD water sports centre, District

Leisure Services Office or recreation and sports venue with Leisure Link Services within the specified

period (starting from 8:30 am on the first day of the Period for Payment by Applicants on the Waiting

List). Applicants on the waiting list are required to bring along the notification letter, the original or a

copy of their identity document#, a copy of the proof of relevant qualifications and entry fee for

enrolment. Phase I of Open Enrolment for Remaining Quota: 27 September – 2 October 2021 If there are places remaining after the deadline for payment by applicants on the waiting list, members

of the public may enrol on a first-come-first-served basis by bringing along the original or a copy of

their identity document#, a copy of the proof of relevant qualifications and entry fee to any LCSD

water sports centre, District Leisure Services Office or recreation and sports venue with Leisure Link

Services within Phase I of Open Enrolment for Remaining Quota (starting from 8:30 am on the first day

of the specified period).

Phase II of Open Enrolment for Remaining Quota: 5 - 6 October 2021 If there are places remaining after the deadline for payment for Phase I of Open Enrolment, the quota

for each division may be adjusted flexibly with reference to the number of remaining places. Members

of the public may enrol on a first-come-first-served basis by bringing along the original or a copy of

their identity document#, a copy of the proof of relevant qualifications and entry fee to any LCSD

water sports centre, District Leisure Services Office or recreation and sports venue with Leisure Link

Services within Phase II of Open Enrolment for Remaining Quota (starting from 8:30 am on the first

day of the specified period). Race Day: 10 October 2021

If there are places remaining after the reporting time (i.e. after 9:30 am) on the race day, the outstanding

applications will be processed immediately by ballot.

Notes: a) Identity document#: for Hong Kong residents: the Hong Kong Identity Card, or the Birth

Certificate / Document of Identity for Visa Purposes / HKSAR Re-entry Permit / One-way

Permit for children aged below 11; for non-Hong Kong residents: valid travel documents

such as passports and the Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and

Macao)

b) Late / duplicate submission of enrolment forms or submissions without all the required

information will render the applicants concerned disqualified from the ballot.

c) Each person may submit 1 enrolment form only.

d) No change of competitor will be entertained once payment of entry fee has been made.

e) Telephone reservation is not accepted.

9. Ranking: The competitors of each division will be ranked according to their finishing time.

10. Prizes: The number of prizes will be determined according to the number of competitors as

follows:

11. Rules: The events will be governed by the notice of race, race instructions of this race and the

general instructions of the Hong Kong Canoe Union.

12. Notes to Competitors:

(a) Reporting time:

i) Competitors are required to report to the Centre between 8:45 am and 9:30 am, and

should produce the original of the identity document used for enrolment, receipt and

proof of relevant qualifications for verification. Recognised identity documents

include the Hong Kong Identity Card, the Birth Certificate / Document of Identity for

Visa Purposes / HKSAR Re-entry Permit / One-way Permit (only for children aged

below 11, copy also acceptable) and valid travel documents such as passports or the

Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao (only for

non-Hong Kong residents). Children aged 14 or below may produce the original or

a copy of their identity document. The original of a valid photograph-bearing

student identity card / student handbook should also be produced if the identity

document supplied does not bear a photograph. Craft and relevant equipment will

be allocated by the Organiser by ballot during the reporting time.

ii) Failure to provide proof of relevant qualifications will render the competitors

concerned disqualified.

iii) If there are places remaining after the reporting time (i.e. after 9:30 am), the places

will be allocated to other interested persons on the spot by ballot.

(b) Personal Safety: Competitors must bring a waterproof whistle, and wear their own

heel-toe-covered shoes and the buoyancy aid supplied by the Organiser.

(c) Arrangement of Boats: All competitors must use the kayaks and paddles provided and

allocated by the Organiser. Those who change the equipment

(except spray skirts) without prior permission of the Organiser will

be disqualified. All competitors, save those in the Junior

Divisions, will be provided with spray skirt by the Organiser but

may also use their own spray skirts. The Organiser reserves the

right to claim for compensation from the users for any damage to

its equipment.

(d) Appeal: No appeal will be allowed. The referees’ decision on the spot shall be final.

(e) Race Instructions: These will be uploaded to the website of LCSD before the race (i.e. 5

October 2021)

13. Race Cancellation: If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above or the Black

Rainstorm Warning Signal issued by the Hong Kong Observatory is in

force at or after 7:00 am on the race day, the races will be cancelled and

shall not be rescheduled. If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1, the

Red Rainstorm Warning Signal, the Strong Monsoon Signal or the

Thunderstorm Warning is issued at or after 7:00 am on the race day,

competitors are required to report to the Centre. The centre staff will

decide whether the races should proceed as scheduled, adopt the

alternative courses or be cancelled in the light of the prevailing weather

conditions.

14. Meals: Competitors should bring their own lunch.

15. Insurance: Participants should take out an insurance at their own expense.

16. Enrolment Form: Available at all LCSD water sports centres and can be downloaded from the

website of the LCSD’s water sports centres

17. In case of safety and public health issue, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel the races

without prior notice to the competitors.
