Multan is one of the largest cities of Pakistan, located in southern part of the Punjab at the bank of River Chenab, and is 215 meters above sea level. Multan is also known as the city of Sufis or city of saints. A circular road around the embankment gives access to the city through thirteen gates. Multan is an ancient city with its structure and heritage well preserved. The city is famous for its distinctive features, such as the unique white and blue ceramics, medicated Multan sand, Khussa an attractive style of handcrafted footwear, variety of cultivable Mangoes, hospitality of inhabitants of Multan. The city is well-planned and is very valuable to trade and heritage.Multan has been the Centre of Educational attraction throughout its history, with a number of interested people from all over the subcontinent have receiving education in this ancient city .It is now the center of educational excellence with a vast number of Government and private educational institutes including Bahauddin Zakariya University, which is the largest university of Multan.
The City of Saints - Multan
Bahauddin Zakariya University is located in Multan, Southern Punjab, Pakistan. It is the largest University in Southern Punjab. It was known as Multan University formerly. The University is named in the commemoration of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya R.A. (1172-1262 A.D.) A school of higher learning in theology in Multan was established by him where scholars from all over the world came for studies and research. The university is situated 10 Km away from the City Centre. Its main campus spreads over 960 acres of land. The university is a confederation of 51 departments, institutes and colleges. There are almost 619 faculty members out of which 389 hold doctoral degrees. The university offers a wide variety of programs which include 4 years undergraduate program, M.A., M.Sc., MBA, M.Com, MCS, M.Phil., and Ph.D. It is a rapidly growing university in Southern Punjab, Pakistan and is an Institution with strong performance.
Bahauddin Zakariya University
The Department of Chemistry was established in 1975 and raised to the status of Institute of Chemical Sciences in 2012.ICS offers B.S.(4 years), M.Phil and Ph.D programs. The Institute has 20 highly qualified faculty members. Most of the research programs / projects run by the faculty members are funded by different national/ international agencies. Through collaborative programs, its research activities are also shared with various national/ international agencies.
