Orientation Service Day walk leader training | August 2011
What: - Five Kilometer walk for students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Fundraiser for All Hands Volunteers
- CROP Lunch for all participants
Why: To orient new students to
- The college’s value for service
- The Davidson community
- Town and college partnerships
- A Year long theme
Theme(s!): - Davidson College “Civic Engagement”
- Engage for Change “The Communities We Create”
Groups: - Led by walk leader (you!) - Organized by number
- Same as book discussion
- Walk one of three routes red, blue, green
Preparation: - Contact team walk leader ((if applicable) - Familiarize yourself with your route - Plan icebreakers and introductions for your group
Arrival: - Arrive at 8:45 am, August 20th - Check in at ‘Walk Leader’ table - Find seating section that matches your number
Assembly: - Hold up numbered sign so students can locate their group
- Be energetic and set a positive tone - Check names off attendance list
Assembly: - Service Pictures Slideshow with Music
- EFC informational slideshow - Stacey speaks about service at Davidson
- Keynote Speaker
Departure: - Groups dismissed by number
- Exit DFPH and leave Union toward Baker - Please stay seated until number is called
- Grab a water bottle - Keep Moving! - Find a shady spot and lead icebreakers
Return: - CROP lunch in Union Atrium
- Keep students until group announcements - Turn in attendance sheet to OT
- Fill out evaluations
