EVENTS

EVENT HIGHLIGHTSAnnual SI Economic Development ConferenceLaunched in 1998, the Annual Economic Development SI Conference is the most visible and effective program offered by SIEDC. The Conference is an all-day event that includes seminars, business-to-business vending, networking events and keynote speaking sessions that provide an unparalleled opportunity for interaction among businesses on and off the Island. The Conference is the only economic and business conference held on Staten Island each year and draws over 125 vendors and over 2,500 people. Prior to 1998, Staten Island never hosted an economic development conference.

The keynote sessions are of great interest to business leaders, providing them with the opportunity to hear from speakers such as: New York State’s Attorney General Andrew Cuomo; New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg; NYC Deputy Mayor Robert K. Steel; Staten Island Borough President James P. Molinaro; Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue; Randy Levine, President of the New York Yankees; Howard J. Rubenstein, President of Howard J. Rubenstein Associates; Kathy Wylde, President & CEO, Partnership for New York City; Greg David, Editor of Crain’s New York Business; Deputy Mayor Daniel Doctoroff; Barbra Corcoran of the Corcoran Group; and Speaker Christine Quinn.

BUILDERS & DEVELOPER’S CIRCLE: The Builders & Developer’s Circle is made up of commercial and industrial property owners who are developing their sites, fostering new capital investment and the creation of jobs for Staten Island residents. Capital projects in which SIEDC has partnered with local developers include: St. George Station, Waterfront Commons, Atlantic Salt, Staten Island Terminal, Corporate Commons I & II, Bedford Construction Corporation, May Ship Repair & North Shore Business Park.

LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE: The SIEDC Leadership Institute is a membership group that serves as advisors to the 40 Under 40 Leadership Group while at the same time enhancing their own leadership skills through a series of seminars and training sessions. The Leadership Council meets monthly to network and exchange ideas on how to improve the business climate of Staten Island through various programs and events.

GREEN & CLEAN COUNCIL: The Green & Clean is a unique membership open to Green & sustainable companies, businesses, and organizations. The focus of the company’s activities must be on the advancement of Green technologies, Green industry, or the development/continuation of Green business practices within that company.

LAND & BUILDING’S COUNCIL: A membership group exclusively devoted to the marketing of available and developable Commercial and Industrial properties from SIEDC’s priority list of sites. The membership is made up of the owners and agents for these sites.
