causes pain due to nerve compression.9 This condition is commonly known as fourth compartment syndrome. Muscle resection with partial section of the extensor retinaculum has proved to be the most efficient procedure to relive the symptoms.9, 10 Extensor digitorum brevis manus may be associated with capitate-hamate synostosis, extensor synostosis or with ganglion. Tendon of extensor digitorum brevis manus can be used in a surgery of tendon transfer for malfunctioned extensor pollices longus muscle. But this may limit as it is really difficult to define the tendon of extensor digitorum brevis manus muscle through a small incision.11
Conclusion: Extensor digitorum brevis manus muscle is a supernumery rare muscle over dorsum of hand. Possibility of presence of muscle is worthy to prevent misdiagnosis such as ganglion or soft tissue tumor. Existence of muscle arouses interest in procedures like tendon transfer or graft transfer.
