In order to consolidate our growth and expansion into different market segments Ormazabal acquired EPDL in 2012. Now Ormazabal UK provides standard and tailor-made MV and Smart Grid Solutions as well as knowledgeable customer service and support throughout the UK and Ireland, through our highly innovative engineering team, R+D, manufacturing and logistics facilities.

WIND FARM GRID INTERCONNECTION SOLUTIONSCASE STUDY: RhyL FLATS OFFShORE WIND FARM

Rhyl Flats Wind Farm is located 5 miles from the North Wales coast covering an area of 3.9 square miles. Ormazabal UK provided all the MV switchgear used to interconnect the 25 turbines off shore.

The switchgear, protection scheme and SCADA control were all integrated onto a single base frame designed to fit directly into the turbine transition piece. The switchgear was packaged and installed within the transition piece off shore for up to 12 months prior to the turbines being installed. Providing
