china: First 10 kV transFormer substation project with ormazabal’s complete solutions in northeast oF china

Ormazabal China has won the frame bid for 4.65 million Euros of transformer substations in Liaoning province, northeast of China. This is the first transformer substation project that Ormazabal China will supply in this region.

The whole project requires a total amount of 125 sets of Ormazabal’s transformer substations. With the development of Smart Grid technology within the group, the transformer substations Ormazabal supplies will help the grid get smarter.

Ormazabal China has won the bid for more than 5 million Euros in Shandong province. The project requires both switchgear and outdoor cubicles. As a foreign brand, Ormazabal was ranked as No.1 bid winner for indoor switchgear and No.2 for outdoor cubicles.

Ormazabal is a well known foreign brand in Shandong province and this project will strengthen the leading position of Ormazabal China in this region.

Ormazabal China has won the frame bid for more than 5 million Euros from China Southern Power Grid (CSPG). The contract contains manufacturing and supply of Ormazabal’s secondary distribution switchgear for outdoor application for the China Southern Power Grid.

This is the second consecutive year that Ormazabal China wins the big project from CSPG where Ormazabal China will continuously supply its GA/GAE type gas insulated switchgear panels and outdoor enclosures to Guangdong province and other CSPG’s regions in the south of China.

Malaysia: ormazabal keeps growing in the malaysian market

Recently Ormazabal’s Malaysian partner Infrakomas Sdn. Bhd. has successfully finalized the retrofitting and motorization of over 80 nos. GA type gas insulated switchgear.

Malaysia is one of the most important markets for Ormazabal outside Europe. Since the early 1990’s over 60.000 f.u. of gas insulated secondary distribution cubicles type GA, GAE, CGM and CGMCOSMOS, have been installed into Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)‘s electrical networks both in Peninsular Malaysia, also in Sabah and Sarawak.

Malaysia: First order For ormacontainer

Ormazabal has received the first order for its ORMACONTAINER model 33/11kV mobile/containerized substation equipped with medium voltage GIS cubicle for TNB, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the main electrical utility of Malaysia

Usa: 10m usd contract For iberdrola usa

Following to the achievement of getting the IEEE Certification and UL approval for its CPG family gas insulated switchgear panels in February 2012, Ormazabal has now been awarded a contract of 10MUSD from Iberdrola USA. This important contract includes manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning of CPG type primary distribution switchgear to Iberdrola USA’s 38kV and 15kV substations in the states of New York and Maine.

Based on Iberdrola USA’s substations’ modernization scheme, Ormazabal’s CPG.0 and CPG.1 type switchgears will be installed into the substations of New York State Electric & Gas Corporation, Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation, and Central Maine Power Company.

TUrkey: commissioning oF 100 cpg cubicles in ankara

Ormazabal has successfully completed the delivery, installation and commissioning of over 100 nos CPG family GIS type primary distribution switchgear in the distribution network of the Baskent Elektrik AS, the main electrical distribution utility of the capital city of Turkey, Ankara.

chile: project “smart-city chilectra”

Ormazabal has supplied its first LV/MV remote controlled substations for the project “Smart-City Chilectra”in the central region of Santiago. It consists of a first delivery of 35 CGMCOSMOS cubicles with ekorSYS protection, metering and control units.

Chilectra (www.chilectra.cl) is the bigger electrical utility in Chile in terms of energy sale. Its area of influence covers 33 towns in the Metropolitan region, where the capital city Santiago is included. It is responsible of supplying electricity to about two million customers.

swiTzerland: new substation in egolzwil

Ormazabal has delivered again primary distribution switchgear for a new substation in the Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.

After a previous successful experience in 2010 in Dierikon (Lucerne) where we led a similar project for the local utility CKW, recently Ormazabal has supplied a complete solution of 15 GIS cubicles CPG.1, double busbar, 24 kV / 2000 A / 25 kA 1s, IAC AFL for a new substation of CKW in Egolzwil (Lucerne).

argenTina: “prosap” project, transFormer substations miraFlores and las piedritas

Ormazabal Argentina has supplied two transformer substations to our final client Secheep (Servicios Eléctricos del Chaco Empresa Provincial). This delivery is part of an ambitious project, called “Prosap”, for rural electrification in the productive areas of the province of Chaco, Argentina.

This supply consists of two turn-key transformer substations 33/13,2 kV for protecting, telemanagement and remote controlling. Inside of both of the concrete substations, PFU-5 type, MV cubicles are installed: 33 kV CGM.3 type with ekorRPGci protection units and a RT; and 13.2 kV CGMCOSMOS type with ekorRPGci protection units, the transformer and other auxiliary equipment.

France: ormazabal at edF’s “concept grid” Facilities

EDF has installed in its facilities of Renardières (Department of Studies and Research), a mini-network called “Concept Grid”. Its aim is to test and validate technical solutions of the future Smart Grid networks.

Ormazabal France has participated in the development of this innovative project by providing a switching substation and a transformer substation Preforma-PF (PAC type) which integrates MV circuit breaker cubicles.

France: mV cubicles For the port oF brest

Ormazabal France supplies its MV Equipment for the operation of the floating turning gates at Port of Brest no 3 Dry Dock, one of the largest European dry dock facilities

The electrical works included the modernization of the existing MV equipment. The supply was awarded to Ormazabal and consisted of MV cubicles type CGMCOSMOS and LV/MV tropicalized Distribution Transformer.

Key to this supply was equipment’s reliability for assuring a correct and on time operation of the floating turning gates. Additionally, harsh environmental conditions, in an industrial and marine environment, were as well main decision criteria. Then, integral insulation equipment, such as CGMCOSMOS range, was clearly the choice.

Thailand:10 years oF uninterrupted energy to the world’s largest buddhist temple

After installing its CGM.3 type gas insulated switchgear cubicles incorporating Medium Voltage automatic transfer systems (ATS) to bring electricity to several palaces and temples in Thailand, Ormazabal also contributes to the uninterrupted energy supply to the world’s largest Budhist temple, Wat Phra Dhammakaya.

This is one of the many projects that Ormazabal and its long term Thai distributor Eletech have jointly realized by using the maintenance free CGM family gas insulated switchgear and Ormazabal’s intelligent medium voltage automatic transfer system for 24 kV and 36 kV distribution networks.

Malaysia: cpg panels For substations in hotels

Thanks to the professional support and technical assistance of our local partner Infrakomas Sdn. Bhd., since the beginning of 2012, Ormazabal has also secured four separate orders for its medium voltage GIS panels type CPG for the TNB’s primary distribution substations in three leading hotels in the Klang Valley.

argenTina: cgm.3 cubicles at the “rooF oF the world”

Ormazabal Argentina has delivered CGM.3 cubicles for the feeder facilities of the mine Lama by means of its installer/customer Chichoni. This is the first worldwide pioneer cross-border mining project between Argentina and Chile, named Pascua Lama.

The headquarters of these facilities are in Lama, in the province of San Juan in the argentinian side, 1200 km west from Buenos Aires at 4,800 meter above sea level, therefore it is the highest altitude where Ormazabal has installed its cubicles to date.

The mine concessionaire company is Barrick Gold, a multinational corporation established in Canada, which extracts gold, silver and copper from this deposit.

cyprUs: desalination plants equipped with ormazabal switchgear proVide 50% oF the potable water need in cyprusDesalination plants are inevitable choices for the islands like Cyprus because Cypriot rivers are fed entirely from the runoff of winter precipitation; in summer they become dry courses.

Dhekelia, the first desalination plant in Cyprus, started into operation in 1997. It was equipped with Ormazabal’s CBR type air insulated medium voltage switchgear. After more than a decade long continuous operation, these air insulated cubicles have been replaced by Ormazabal’s CGMCOSMOS type 24 kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) panels.

Larnaca, the second desalination plant that entered into service (2001) is also equipped with Ormazabal’s CGMCOSMOS cubicles.

OMan: cpg.0 switchgear For the substation oF a Ferro-chrome plant Recently Ormazabal has been awarded a new contract in Oman, for installing the main distribution substation of a Ferro-Chrome plant in Sohar.

The substation will be equipped with 10 panel 33kV GIS switchgear of CPG.0 type. Thanks to cooperation of its local partner, ONEIC, Ormazabal has installed more than 10 GIS substations in Oman for the last two years.

BUlgaria: new substations For the metropolitan oF soFia

Ormazabal has supplied the MV switchgear for 4 new substations for the second Metrodiameter of the Sofia Metro (Bulgaria).

This project consists of 3 traction substations [2x3000kVA 10/0.65-0.65kV] and 1 distribution substation [2x630kVA 10/0.4kV] equipped with MV gas insulated cubicles type GAE-1250.

Uk: earls hall wind Farm

Ormazabal in close collaboration with our partner EPDL Ltd. is supplying turn-key electrical equipment for another wind farm in the UK, Earls Hall Wind Farm is located in a private area of land approx. one km west of Clacton-on-Sea in Essex (U.K.).

This Wind Farm is made of five REpower MM92 2.05MW turbines with an overall height of 125 metres. The total installed capacity will be of 10.25MW. It will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of at least 5,500 homes annually.

Our Customer is FREEDOM AGRILEK, UK-based electrical subocontractor and we will supply him with five prefabricated transformer substations each including a 2,500KVA 36kV step-up transformers and necessary CGM 36kV cubicles.

gerMany: the tallest wind power station in northern black Forest:ormazabal proVides Flexible switchgear For pilot project

Boasting a hub height of 138 meters, EnBW commissioned its tallest wind power station yet in Schopfloch near Freudenstadt (Baden- Württemberg).

The undertaking lasted six months, from pouring the concrete foundation to producing the first kilowatt hour. In realizing the project that serves as a test bed for up to 400 wind power stations in Baden-Württemberg, the engineers at EnBW relied on switchgear from Ormazabal. The tower of the “wind giant” and the nearby local transformer station use a GAE 1250/630 plant to switch and distribute an electrical supply of 20 kV. This solution is ideal for connecting to utility networks thanks to its compact construction and high reliability.

France: complete solution For prouVille wind Farm

Ormazabal France participated in the extension of the Prouville wind farm providing the first delivery in France of an Ormazabal substation of 7.40 m length and 2.60 m width, as well as the cubicles for the substation and for the turbine mast.

This is the 3rd project of Ormazabal France with EPDR , the renewable energy subsidiary of EPD (Electricity of Portugal) and the first installation fully equipped with Ormazabal products.

This project means the first collaboration between Ormazabal France and Ormazabal Polska, due to the manufacture of the concrete enclosure in our new Polish factory , whereas the integration of the electrical equipment (MV cubicles, automatisms and a 8 MVA passive filter) was performed in our factory of Ormapost in France.

spain: inauguration oF the onda solar rooF in castellon, the biggest in the Valencia region

Ormazabal took part in the inauguration of the Onda solar roof, a 4 Mwp photovoltaic installation on the biggest roof in the Valencia region (Spain).

This solar plant combines the functionality of a big industrial building with the maximum use of its roof for photovoltaic energy generation.

It consists of a roof of 24,080 m2, with a power capacity of 3.85 Mwp that can generate annually 6,000,000 kwh.

Ormazabal has contributed with the following equipment installed in PFU enclosures under the roof:

• 1 Switching remote controlled substation (Iberdrola standards)• 1 Network connection substation (Iberdrola standards)• 4 Transformer protection substations: 1600 kVA, 1000 kVA, 1600 kVA and 630 kVA

spain: ormazabal at the alhama de murcia solar rooF in murcia

Similar to our participation in the Onda solar roof in Castellon (Spain), Ormazabal has supplied the MV equipment for another solar roof in Alhama de Murcia, the biggest in the Murcia region (Spain).

This solar plant has a roof of 17,379 m2 with a capacity of 2.90 Mwp.

The configuration of the supplied products by Ormazabal is equivalent to the Onda solar roof in Castellon, that is, PFU enclosures with the following functionality:

• 1 Switching remote controlled substation (Iberdrola standards)• 1 Network connection substation (Iberdrola standards)• 5 Transformer protection substations for a total power of 4 MW.

Currently this facility is operating at full capacity.

Uk: Fallago rig wind Farm

Ormazabal, in collaboration with our partner EPDL Ltd., is supplying MV electrical equipment for Fallago Rig Wind Farm, the third biggest Scottish onshore wind farm under construction.

Located in the Scottish borders, it will provide renewable electricity enough to power approximately 90,000 homes.

It will consist of 48 V90 Wind Turbine Generators manufactured by Vestas (Northern Europe) Celtic Wind Technology Ltd.

These wind turbines will employ Ormazabal 33kV CGM fully gas insulated extendable cubicles.

china: new manuFacturing Facilities

Ormazabal Zhuhai Switchgear has moved from its old facilities to a new factory in Zhuhai. The new factory has more than 6.500 m2 closed area and around 1000 m2 open area to assemble GA/GAE type gas insulated secondary switchgear as well as metallic outdoor enclosures and cable boxes.

Following to the start-up of the our new factory in Kunshan, closed to Shanghai, in June 2012 to produce SF6 gas tanks for GA/GAE type, this second plant will be another milestone towards the growth of Ormazabal in China, which maintains its third factory in Beijing where metallic type transformer substations are manufactured.

Being established in China on 1986, Ormazabal has installed more than 100.000 f.u. gas insulated secondary switchgear into the Chinese market and it adds mo than 10.000 fu every year.

Ormazabal Zuhai (OZS), the head-quarter of Ormazabal China has obtained PCCC certificate in May 2012, after passing the audit by Power (Beijing) Product Certification Centre Co., Ltd. With this achievement, OZS has gained the qualification to enter the eastern market of China, such as Shanghai and Jiangsu province, where PCCC certificate is a must.

PCCC is the first professional organization in China which specializes in certification and audition for Mechanical and Electrical Products. PCCC certification also takes energy-saving and environmental protection into its considerations.

Exciting insights into the Smart Grid – New Minister of Economics for North Rhine Westphalia visits Ormazabal

The Minister of Economics for North Rhine-Westphalia, Garrelt Duin, visited Ormazabal in Krefeld. With a delegation of local politics, chamber of commerce and economy he toured Ormazabal‘s modern factory and development department. Thomas Hartkämper, General Manager Germany, gave him a warm welcome and some information on Ormazabal. Being specialist for medium voltage and renewable energy applications Ormazabal is an interesting dialogue partner for the new minister. In a lively discussion the minister and guests talked about the „Energy revolution“ and the resulting needs for the German distribution network and participating businesses. Hartkämper’s request for a „masterplan for the German energy distribution network“ was well received by the minister, who was well impressed with Ormazabal’s Europe/Africa Headquarter in Krefeld.

Ormazabal has attended the ERDF’s “Matériels et Métiers” 2012 Forum in Toulouse (France)

This ERDF’s Suppliers Exhibition took place on 5-6-7 June in Toulouse, where more than 1,100 people visited the event.

The visitors could see the Ormazabal product portfolio available for ERDF in France, such as prefabricated transformer substations, type CTC-R (PRCS), CTC-RA & RB (PSS type A & B), CTO (PUIE); MV cubicles CGMCOSMOS (functional units: -TT and –DDB); TPC pole-mounted distribution transformers, etc.

argenTina: ormazabal at clade 2012 congress

Ormazabal has been present in the “II Latin-American congress for electrical distribution” in Rosario, Argentina from 24th to 26th September 2012.

Ormazabal gave a technical paper about new equipment for automating distribution networks, highlighting our Smart-Grid experiences.

The attendance was mainly electrical utilities, universities and electrical equipment manufacturers from Argentina and surrounding countries.
