DECORATIVE GARDENS AT BOWLING CLUBS It is a pleasant experience to see floral arrangements at bowling clubs. Photos 1 & 2 were taken at our own club in Oshawa. We are grateful for those volunteers who spend their time tending our gardens at the club (Howie Taylor, Rob Steffen, and others). Photo 3 was taken at Georgina Garden LBC shows “Old” bowls serving a new purpose. (photo submitted by Suzie Palmer). Photo 4 shows the scourge of the garden this year. Known as “Japanese Beetle”, these insects have no natural predator and attack and eat roses, lilies and other plants The insect thrives in hot sunny summer weather so this year has been particularly good for the beetle but bad for farmers and gardeners.
